For sanding technique - 10 strokes one way, turn it around, 10 strokes one way, turn it around, and so on. Not back and forth though. It works for me and is extremely accurate in keeping the bottom even and not sanded on the ends only.
Hi Marco, I love Yamaha vintage guitars. I have some Yamaha like G225, G231II, G228 and G235II. I sold the G231II and G235II. Also I have two very wear Yamaha guitars: G220-1 and the top of line G280A. That series was only marketed for the japanese and asiatic market.
@@-all-or2ul Yes off course! Now is without saddle because I had to change it. But as soon as possible I'll send you a video. I want to ask you about if is so difficult to obtain a Yamaha guitar like a G245, G245S, G255S, G255SII or G260S? Thank you for your answer Marco!
Im late in here, but a ton of wisdom in this video. I play blues on nylon classical guitar, only problem is, when you lower the action the break angle of the strings is reduced and tone is affected.
Hi again, what tuner machine heads you recommend for my old yamaha G231? Can you do a video on measuring the Head Tuner Machine for proper replacement. I'm still having trouble with guitar staying tuned. The tuner machines look longer than the ones you recommend from ebay? Thank you
Hello, your video is great. But I have a guestion. Is a guitar playable at all if it is not intonated, if guitar does not have total intonation. For example, if we have optimal action and guitar is in tune in open string position, is that enough, or we need that also in 12th fret? Thanks a lot.
You are right, open strings in tune is not enough. The guitar has to be in tune all accross the fretboard. I don't know what you mean when you talk about intonation. But what I mean when I talk ik the video about fine tuning is being able to tune the guitar in such a way that it is in tune all accross the fret board. As for me, I have never owned a luthier guitar. For all second hand guitars I have owned, I have had to find a different way of tuning in order to get it tuned all accross the fret board. For some I was never able to tune then satisfactory all accross the fret board.
Low, normal or high tension does not affect the neck. High tension strings will pull up the soundboard a bit higher resulting in higher action. If I find the action on the guitar a bit high with normal tension strings I would sand down the saddle. If I still find the action too high after I sand the saddle I would try low tension strings since their pull on the soundboard is minimum.
Thank you. I viewed your work because it is specific to a Classical Yamaha Guitar. I am a beginner on G231 Yamaha with bad strings, nut and saddle. Are classical guitar saddles supposed to be flat or rounded?
What are the string's brand you are using? I have D'Addario Pro Arte light tension - so I heard you say light or low tension strings. I have a G231, not the G231ii. So what would you recommend (it is a full size classical 52mm nut, 660mm scale). I also like those bridge nuts you are using - are those available easily?
Hi, Thanks for your instruction video. I have lost the original saddle of my Yamaha G250-S and I have trouble in finding the right replacement bone saddle. What are the exact sizes of the saddle ? Does it have G-string compensation ?
I have a G245SII (1982) and was wondering if there is a significant difference in sound compared to the G250S/ G255S or G260S? Is it worth getting a G250S, is the sound much better than the G245S? Or are they very similar? Thanks
The series made between 1981 - 1985 has scale lenth 65 cm, the bass strings on these guitars are usually not as strong as the series made between 1977 - 1981, this series has a scale lenth of 65.8 cm
Hi Just bought aG250s cant work out the year the serial number is 1022178 or 76 . I was told it's 76 but going by the serial number chart I found online it a 71 .
Well intentioned video; however, the presenter's voice is so weak, it is drowned out by the background music. Videos generated for You Tube should be auditioned thoroughly before uploading them.
No sound is fine. The background music stops at about 4 mins after that the commentary is clearer. He's clearly not a TH-cam pro, so cut him some slack and leave your negativity elsewhere.
Very practical approach, thank you! Amazing playing at the end of the video.
Those guitars look to be in very good condition. Good finds! I like those old Yamahas.
For sanding technique - 10 strokes one way, turn it around, 10 strokes one way, turn it around, and so on. Not back and forth though. It works for me and is extremely accurate in keeping the bottom even and not sanded on the ends only.
Thanks for the advice, did not know that.
Thank you for your useful tipps. Really nice playing at the end - quite inspiring. Just swapped my g-240 with a g-255.
Your welcome, good swap by ther way.
Nice tips and very nice playing demo
Nice guitar after you put in the work. Very informative video. BTW nice guitar playing as well.
Beautiful instrument. Thanks for the video.
Thank You! Very interesting.
Great vid...love my classical.
Well done Sir ....BRAVO !
Goeie video. Bedankt!
9:40 what are these little stones? I've never seen that. Looks to me if string changing would be much more easy with them?

Wouw I have never heard of the G280A model. You should make a video about that one.

This is a link with a Yamaha guitar G280A. th-cam.com/video/S_CIso7DMEg/w-d-xo.html
A fellow collector - My line up is G225 (x2), G235, G245 and G245SII. I buy whenever they crop up on local second hand sites.
Good video. Informative.
Thank you for the insights 🤗
This guitar really sounds great.
It sure does.......:)
20:15 what song is this? Its very beautiful and your rendition was excellent
Nice video but volume is too low, can't hear what is being said.
The intro music cuts out about 3 mins in, after which the commentary is a lot clearer
Im late in here, but a ton of wisdom in this video. I play blues on nylon classical guitar, only problem is, when you lower the action the break angle of the strings is reduced and tone is affected.
Try lowering the action and using high tension strings
Great video. 💙

Hi. Thanks for the great explanation. I know the first piece you played was Carcassi but what the flamenco piece? It was brilliant.
2 years later and they still haven't replied with an answer...
Is g240ii have a trusroad?

What do you call the ending of strings at 9:10? It's a very interesting accessory.
It is called a stringtie or string tie
@@-all-or2ul Thanks so much :)
When you say you use low tension strings, why is this? Does it not affect the neck if different strings are used than the ones the guitar came with?

You can do this for your G231, classical guitar saddles mostly flat, but rounden is also available. The one on my G250S is rounded.
Very nice video, very helpful, thank you for posting. Just wanted to ask out of curiosity, what are the names of the pieces you played at the end?
excellent job, thank you!
Your welcome

Saddle size is usually about 80 x 3 x 9mm. I always buy one with at least a G string compensation.
Thank you for such a great video. I have just bought a Juan Hernandez that I want to make sound like you do :)
You can do it...just try.
13:01 are you doing cocaine

Ok.....well as far as I know the G250S was only made between 1977 - 1981 so I think your serial number is 78 and not 76.
Yes, your guitar was made in February 2 1971 and was # 178 (or 176) in the line of production.
Is there for sale, if so what's the price
check the volume BEFORE posting it
Yes you right, got to do better next time.
Watch more than just the INTRO before complaining. At approx 3 mins the background music stops and the audio is a lot clearer. Be patient.
Can't hear your voice and that music doesn't help. Couldn't watch ... sorry. I was interested.
Six minutes in and you haven't touched a thing.

TH-cam viewers should watch more than just the intro which has intro music playing. At 3 kins this stops and the commentary is a lot clearer.
I can barely hear this guy. He is playing the background music way too loud........totally unnecessary
The background music totally stops after a few mins. Patience is totally necessary.
fix the volume on your mic before you fix the guitar...
Fix your attitude. The background music stops after 3 mins of this 22 min video.
Poor sound.
