As soul crushing and depressing as it was to watch as a Jackets fan, seeing a young Cam Atkinson on the board as mere "trade bait" makes up for it. I wasn't following them as much back then as I do now, so I never knew it was a possibility. But Atkinson was such an integral part of that scary Jackets team few years later. And because what goes around comes around, he was traded this year for... Jakub Voracek! And so far, it feels like a win-win trade

@@bradenkalke2500 I've only ever met one in real life. A Facebook friend texted me to inform me there was a guy with a Jackets jersey at my favorite bar. 30 minutes later, I was there with my own Jackets jersey and took a picture with him.

That Johnny Oduya trade was big for the hawks. I remember as a hawks fan thinking it was not enough of a splash but he helped solidify the D. A lot of people forget that 2012 the hawks looked like they were on the verge of being a one and done team that wins a cup and starts declining but that next season the pieces fell into place and they dominated. For a the next few years

The Preds fleeced the Sabres on the pick that became Saros. They got lucky that Saros has become what he's been since Rinne retired, and that they could have drafted someone who never played an NHL game, and the Sabres missed on Tom Wilson, Tomas Hertl, Teuvo Teravainen, and ANDREI VASILEVSKI.
More like just great scouting, honestly a 4th round pick is 4th round if you scout and draft smart.
Ah Saros, the goalie I was praying my Oilers would draft at the time as they had 3 picks, one in the late 3rd round and 2 in the early 4th round and Saros on the table….they never took him!! 😔
Plus the Predators also have Yaroslov Askarov whose draft comp was Vasy so they are set at goalie.

@@SirManfly Also if he doesn't... think about it, if he doesn't pan out they still have a really good goalie in Saros and a good backup option in Connor Ingram. They are set at goalie unless they do something really stupid.
I feel like it's not fair to say a team won a trade because the 4th round pick they got turned into a great player. Yes, the trade likely contributed, but it's fairly likely that the other team wouldn't have drafted that same player, so it's less an element of the trade and more an element of good scouting/development. For instance, on June 22, 2003 the Sharks traded a 2004 6th round pick for the 205th pick (7th round) from Philly. The 205th pick had previously been Atlanta's. The Sharks ended up with Joe Pavelski as a result of that trade and Ladislav Scurko (the player Philly took with the 6th) played a couple more years in Junior before going to Slovakia and bouncing between their top league and their 2nd/3rd tier leagues. Obviously looking at the careers of the players who were eventually drafted, you'd say the Sharks won that trade, but if the Sharks couldn't make that trade happen they likely could've moved for another comparably located pick for a similar price and still gotten Pavelski, and it's unlikely that Philly would've picked Pavelski with that pick.

Hodgson had a lot of problems within the Canucks organization (as revealed in the book ice storm) who were prepared to offload him on Buffalo. Either the Sabres genuinely felt they could turn his career on again or they missed the red flags. Sadly for Hodgson it just never worked out.
I love the Saro's story as everyone seems to get hung up on his size. As a fan of Mike Vernon I'm always rooting for the little guys!

Never would've imagined someone makes a video about Kassian, dude is just a goon who isn't really a good defender or a point scorer.. people overrate him because he had excellent years carried by McDavid and Draisaitl, in bottom 6 he has been a scrub tbh... Yeah I might get hate from Oilers fans, wouldn't surprise me, but the fact is they could've done way better than him.. the results speak louder than words, no need to be salty towards me, I didn't build your shitty team

It's kind of late to pitch this idea now, but it might be cool for each year you could post a video of the trade deadline 10 and 20 years ago. So today could be 2012 and 2002. Next year you could do 2013 and 2003. Not sure how exciting deadline day was back before the salary cap, but they could be fun to look back on?
