Convict cichlids are the best for a reason. They're unkillable, extremely smart and breed like crazy. I love them. This video demonstrates how intelligent and hardy they are.
It’s interesting how wildlife sometimes benefits from our trash. There’s a pond near me that has a turtle who likes to hangout in a sunken traffic cone.
I'm doing some research to build a rock-based tank for my pair. But this video just shows the current tank they're living in is EXACTLY their natural habitat as well, without the beer can though lol. ( it is a tank built for a pair of apistogramma )
Hi, if you watch the small clip from the Rio San Jose th-cam.com/video/znz89M0YrVw/w-d-xo.html you will find their natural habitat aswell. Also the movie of A septemfaciata is a comparable habitat of A nigrofaciata. Keep an eye on that you create some small caves, as the are cave breeders. Success.
@@cichlidsinthewild thank you. the video of the A septemfasciata is very inspiring. i did create a small cave and the female seems to like it. will need to collect some rounded pebbles in medium size to rebuild and create a stream atmosphere in the future :)
@@cichlidsinthewild yeah i fell like my couple is a bit of rebellious... 9 days ago they layed eggs on the open surface of wood, today in the new scape, the breeding couple chose an open rock surface over the rock cave i created...
Convicts are stunning little cichlids with a huge character!
Yes the are, bust most species out of the genus Amatitlania have character. Watch the movie's of A. sajica and septemfasciata.

Interesting channel, Hans. I appreciate the simplicity and seeing fish in their habitats.
Cute little pair
Super cool
