Look out for Hobby's at the end of summer around lakes and large ponds where the adults and that years young will feast on dragonflies as in the video before the long flight south. On the smaller waters i have watched them many times in early autumn flying a circuit,round and round. If it is still or a light wind you can hear them crunch the dragonflies as they pass a few feet overhead. Fantastic bird.

Just watched a video where a hobby hawk tried to invade a kestrel nest with chicks. The female kestrel attacked it and they fought for 35 minutes. The kestrel killed the hobby hawk and fed it to the chicks.

Where I am (Taiwan) the confusion tends to be between the more common Peregrine Falcon and the (rare) transient Hobby.
Was trying to figure out what I saw when I was out on my walk - was absolutely a buzzard now 😅
