Sometimes I think about how many members of The Academy thought that Natalie Portman learned all of ballet in a couple months for the movie Black Swan. And then I see a real ballerina and you can see the LIFETIME of training in every muscle 😭
@ComaBerenices it's Mary from Ballet Beautiful, she has a business and teach classes with the exercises Natalie did Victoria secrets models are some of the students, and some has dancers bodies Natalie did a lot for her, she always mentions the coach work
Joy B I’ve seen videos with Sarah Lane here on TH-cam and that’s where I really learned who Natalie’s double was. They totally gave the impression that Natalie worked her ass off to dance those solos bc she worked for 6 months, 10-12 hour days to become balletic for her role, but it’s always lazily implied that she managed to get en pointe and dance in just 6 months of basically ballet boot camp. Obviously Sarah Lane is named in the end credits but they totally should have given her far more recognition for her role in the film. It wouldn’t exist without her dancing (which was absolutely beautiful!).
