1- Pull up (back, torse): to gain stability and even a more professional look.
2- Port de bras: Practice the positions in front of a mirror and try to connect each position while dancing so it looks like dancing, not doing ballet steps only.
3- Same as 2, dance with your head. In adagio, etc.
    4-Plié.
5-Practice your variation a couples time in a row in order to handle the cardio.
6- Turnout (idk how to explain just watch the end of the video lol)

Another way of trying to pull up is like imagine your bones are drilling down to the ground and your muscles are getting pulled up, it’ll help with your balance so much. Not only that but if youre standing on one leg during tendu, adage, or whatever you’re doing, NEVER sit on the leg you’ll look super short and try to keep your weight off of your hips and imagine your hips are going up into your armpits 😂😂😂 that’s the best way I can explain it

Can you make a video on stretches to do to get a little bit of hyperextension (like enough to make your legs look really pretty when dancing on pointe). I've heard that it's good for dancers to have a little bit of hyperextension, and I have none.
Also, how can I get higher arches/ flexible ankles?

    • @yeeyeeheehee7924
      @yeeyeeheehee7924 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hiiii, so I know this comment is old but I wanted to answer anyways. Hyperextension is kinda genetic, it has to do with how you're built but really engaging muscles helps with a cleaner extension and more defined lines. For pointe, it's really the feet that are important. For higher arches, do calf raises and releves because it strengthens them and the calf pulls up faster for pointework. You do NOT want flexible ankles, you want strong ankles. Flexible ankles will be injured quicker so aim for flexible feet and strong ankles.

its so interesting hearing you describe pulling up cause its like.....both different from how i was taught and the same if that makes any sense? i like the idea of separating the upper and lower body, at our studio we're taught to think of our ribcage as a vest and to "zip up" the vest when we dance

I have used this tip ever since and it has been so incredible. It’s a strange concept but I always have perfect balance whether it’s on flat or pointe. So if you are the person who commented this, you are a life saver

Hi everyone! I was wondering if you could give me some dance advice! Here’s the problem: I’m a dancer and I’ve been dancing for ten years. I’ve had multiple knee injuries and have to have knee surgery. I’ve been in and out of dance for this and other health reasons for the past two years, and I haven’t danced since last September. I can’t have my surgery until after all this Covid-19 stuff passes, and after that I have to wait six months until I’m healed. I’ve been really anxious about getting out of shape, and I was wondering if y’all had any tips for things I can work on that aren’t super straining on the knee. Thanks 💙💙💙

Hi! One of my friends had a really bad ankle injury, but she still wanted to do ballet and get better. In about 6 months she did barre on a yoga ball, so she basically just sat there and did the port de bras that we did standing. After the 6 months she came back so strong and stable, because not only had it helped her arm and head movements, but also her core stability. Really recommend doing class sitting on a yoga ball!

This was really helpful. Whenever I'm dancing, I'm constantly wondering why I'm wobbly, or can't get higher extensions, etc. This will really help me focus on a few things, and improve a lot more overall

Truee.. i can relate so much when you talk about stamina.. i have low blood pressure and when my stamina is going down of course my technique kinda slacks off, so my teacher yells at me saying "pull up, etc etc". But i just can't because i'm already so tired. So i tried some cardio exercises from youtube, and i can feel at ballet that my stamina is just going ⬆️ and i can do my movements/technique better. So long story short, improve ur stamina guys!!

with the turnout one, (ik I'm late sorry 😭) but actually your entire turnout comes from your hips and if your feet aren't over your knees and you're turning out from your knees instead then it'll hurt your knees long term, my ballet teacher taught me about that. You're not actually turned out if you turn out from your knees, also the part about the extentions, when you place your leg where it's supposed to be, not too far back like you're forcing yourself to turn out and your hip is out of place, then your turn out will be automatically better when you're putting your leg where it's actually supposed to go

The turnout tip made me examine my own posture. I've struggled with tucking in my butt while not clenching so much I can't lift my legs. Can you perhaps do a tricks video on that?
