A Kekkei genkai can not be learned it is a something that runs in a bloodline (Or if your a jinchuriki and you learn how to control the tailed beast) like the Uchiha Clan if you are a Uchiha you would awaken your sharigan later on the same thing for the Byakugan. 8:57 - I think the reason that Neji didn't do what you're suggesting here is because if Kidomaru saw that Neji had dodged/deflected the arrow, he would have immediately cut the connection to the arrow and fired another arrow, and kept this pattern up until he had exhausted Neji and killed him. When Neji let the arrow hit him, Kidomaru thought he had landed a lethal blow, and wasn't being nearly as careful as he should have, and didn't cut the connection to the arrow, which allowed Neji to take Kidomaru out. Just my theory though.

@@galatic-wyvern2993 It's been a long time since I've watched the fight, so I can't be 100% sure, but I'm fairly certain that Kidomaru had cut the connection to arrows he had previously fired before, so Neji knew that any dodged/deflected arrow would simply be a waste of energy. Remember, at this point in the fight, Neji was pretty tired - not necessarily low on chakra, but physically tired - having fought for quite a while dodging arrows, fighting the giant spider and so on, so he wasn't in peak condition. Any wasted energy would be a liability. He needed to end the fight as fast as possible.

I know this comment isn't that relevant anymore, but by letting the arrow hit him, it gave kidomaru a false sense of relief, lowering his guard and keeping the string attached to him. If neji avoided or deflected it, kidomaru would quickly break the string and try again. Neji was in a tight spot, and that was his best play even if it was flawed, especially when looking outside in

Neji was out of chakra when he fought Kidomaru. Kidomaru even mentioned it right before he shot that last arrow with the spin on it, he realized that Neji was emitting all of his chakra out just so he would be able to detect the arrows he couldn’t see in his blind spot. Not to mention he was already gravely wounded and even tho the arrow did hit him, he was still fast enough to make it miss his vitals while hurt and out of chakra.
Actually, the reason neji got hit with the arrow is because he used up almost all of his Chakra on rotations against kimimaru and his spider. He used the last of his Chakra within the thread to hit Kim with gentle fist internally.

This is just a minor nitpick, but Neji had very little chakra towards the end of his fight with Kidomaru because he was constantly emitting chakra in a sphere that had a radius of 15 whole meters. He was dumping most of his chakra out so that he could sense or divert projectiles that were in his blindspot.
MichaelRGB And he couldn't use the rotation, because his movements were slowed by Kidomaru's webs.
I also think he needed the arrow to hit, because if it hadn't kidomaru would have just severed the threat and prepared the next attack without ever giving Neji the possibility to send his chakra that way ... I mean the vital part of this strategy was for the threat between kidomaru and the arrow to stay connected for long enough. If he'd just let the arrow miss - even more so if he'd than hurried to grab the threat, Kidomaru would have just severed it.
Also I thought the fact that the Hyuuga Rotation was able to deflect physical attacks by the juubi should have been mentioned.

Maybe, but Hidden Lotus Rock Lee would definitely blast Neji to pieces before the latter does full rotation. Byakugan itself grants no reaction speed buffs, and even if it did, seeing an attack coming is useless if the attack is too fast for your physical reaction time.

Yeah... I was sad to see how the Byakugan didn't have some further power like the Sharingan. I feel like that was a mistake considering how the other doujutsu have so much power and such varied power. it would have been nice if Neji had fully proved his genius by awakening some type of lost power which is how he saved Naruto and Hinata, thus tying together the relationships. Oh well.

The entire point of rotation is that it bypasses the blind spot, furthermore he already had a field of chakra in his blind spot to sense what was there and slightly alter the trajectory of the arrow (another pivotal moment you are conveniently forgetting), like… come on guys, lee stomps negative difficulty.

True, we haven't seen Neji at full strength against a credible opponent, in Shippuden at least. What episode/chapter does Lee say that? If that is true, then that would mean that Lee would have to approach Neji in a fashion similar to how he approached facing the Madara/Obito/Juubi, where going all-out is the only way to win.
Unfortunately, side characters don't get too great a development in this series.
Neji was needlessly killed off and there is little to no proper or consistent scaling of Lee's 5th or 6th gate in shippuden.
Yeah the biggest issue I have with Kishi is completely throwing away all the amazing side characters he had introduced in favor of plot armored sharingans and bijuus basically. Huge waste and pitiful result tbh.
Anyway Lee says (thinks) "Neji, this technique was for defeating you...but I'll show it now", Chapter 86 page 1. About the 5th gate Extreme Lotus. Now there is a lot we can take from this statement.
1) Neji had never seen Lee open the gates, judging from his reactions in the previous chapter. And yet Lee thought that technique was necessary to beat Neji, not just 4th gate, not Initial Lotus, not dropping weights. He thought it was necessary to beat the Neji he knew. He didnt even know about Hakke Rokujuunyon Shou (a technique Neji wasn't even supposed to know).
2) Lee says "but I'll show it now", assuming that it's relevant for Neji to see it, since if he knows about it he might be able to defend against it. Meaning Lee can't simply count on outspeeding Neji with 5th gate, not to an extent that would prevent Neji from using Kaiten at least (and no, Naruto never broke though the Kaiten, Neji got caught off guard and initiated the spin way too late, awful timing since he underestimated Naruto). Kido's arrow wasn't blocked in the same way for many possible reasons, I don't think it would be able to pierce the rotation but it's entirely possible (and likely) that it was simply much faster than a 5th gate attack, and/or Neji had to get hit to have Kido drop his guard.
3) "This tech WAS for defeating you". "Was". Meaning he's doesn't think he can rely on Extreme Lotus against Neji anymore. Either because he has now revealed it and it won't work w/o surprise, or because he thinks he'll end up too injured afterwards to be able to try it again in the foreseeable future (in which case the fact he was going to rely on something so self-injuring to beat Neji proves it was absolutely necessary), or both.
I really dislike how Neji was the only one to make it Jonin at the start of Shippuden but was in NO WAY more useful and by extent stronger than the other players. Byakugan had infinite possible applications and we might see some in Boruto but the damage is done, and it was such a waste.
I even suspect Neji was killed off because Kishi didn't know how to manage him in Boruto in case Byakugan actually became useful, he didn't know how to justify that the Hyuga GENIUS ended up so far behind the few major characters.
The only reason I feel like he thought that was because he'd never fought neji without his weights or let alone the gates open and had been finessed for some years by this game guy. I feel he was just conditioned and if you remember after every loss he had to hear a speech about how he's trash and nejis a genius and he cant change destiny and blah blah. I think Lee under sold himself because he sees neji as such a big figure

The way i interpret Guy's speech about the differences of the gentle fist and furious fist, is that with equal stats, the gentle fist user wins hands down. But Lee has outgrown that thing, his base power and speed has gotten up to the point that his attacks compensate for the disadvantage in their styles.
That is why Lee trained so hard, because he realised (or maybe Guy told him based on his duels with Kakashi) that you can compensate for hax skills like that by increasing your base power and speed. They cant use their hax jutsu if they got pummeled into submission faster than they can process that they are being pummeled.

1. Neji didn't use rotation in his fight against 🕷️ guy for many reasons . But ultimately it was because his opponent knew about his blind spot. He was using his chakra to detect the area for his attack. So he could have a chance to dodge it or at least to suspect the attack.
2. There's nothing that says Neji can't tank one of Lee's punches . His rotation was able to block a tentails tail. I think Naruto's attack stopped rotation bc his kunai stopped the rotation of his chakra . Brute Force doesn't really seem to be a definite factor but that's just speculation .
3. I might be remembering this wrong but I'm pretty sure Nejjs rotation was compared to Gaara's ultimate defense after the during his fight with Naruto . The same ultimate defense that tanked multiple hits from 5 gate Lee .
4. Neji is a durable guy , the only reason he got one shotted from Naruto is bc he was exhausted to a point he could barely move in the first place . His second fight shows more of his durability.
I think Neji would probably lose to Lee , but it would high difficulty. If Lee is able to hit him in time before he can't take the pain from the gates . But let me know what you guys think.
Neji would put up a good enough fight to pressure Lee at up to 2nd gate, but once Lee opens the 3rd gate Neji gets speedblitzed to death. If he doesn't, Lee would open the 4th and 5th gate and at that point Neji has no chance.
Gaara's Sand Armor is automatic while Neji needs to actively use his Rotation. If he's being pinballed in the air by Gates Lee there's no way he can do Rotation. Not that it matters because he'd be long dead the moment Rock Lee starts pinballing Neji and that takes fractions of a second. Neji's Rotation is powerful, but his body is just flesh and bone which Lee can disintegrate in an instant.

Its probably also worth pointing out that Kakashi and Guy have been fighting to be the strongest forever have they not? Is it not first at the last gate or 2 that Kakashi would agree he is outclassed? In other words he should have been able to keep up with the speed to some degree.
The hyuga clan never got a lot of time under the spotlight. And I honestly thinkt that was in part not to make them seem stronger then the uchiha. I do think the special powers that the Uchiha would gain from the Mangekyō Sharingan would be hard to deal with, but still I also think that would be countered by the strain the power takes. So up to having a eternal mangekyou sharingan I do not think they where ment to be far behind the Uchiha at all. So I really think they where downplayed hard. Its not like the Mangekyō could have been keept that good a secret even more so from the huyga clan who would care about their rivals eye powers. Then again I may be wrong about that.
All the same. As I view them as a rival clan to the Uchiha (I alwyas found it really strange and stupid that they did not get a 2nd stage to their eyes but as they never had one of them become a main caracter I guess it had to be that way)

I am not saying Lee would loose tho. Against the 7th gate I am sure Neji shuld have had a hard time. And the 8th would probably be a stomp. Then again, if his defence thingy would return the force used against him back at Lee using it. I guess they may both get messed up.

The only reason why I even heard about Football this year is because of the Sponge Bob half time show. After that it faded into irrelevancy.

But if Neji somehow is able to land a hit on Lee and starts shutting down his chakra points then he wins I guess
WyArYUGei N1 he doesn’t use chakra if neji were to damage his internal organs than neji could win.
Neji would need to shut off enough points to stop the 8Gates and then paralyze/kill Lee, since Taijutsu is the least chakra-demanding style. However, Lee's speed would make him impossible to hit, while a single attack from Gates Lee would fucking disintegrate Neji.
@@sethpoplin37 Taijutsu still uses chakra. It's the most fundamentally basic maneuver in the ninja world, using chakra to enhance physicality.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 Yes, all humans in Naruto run on chakra to survive. Taijutsu generally just uses the least chakra to perform because it's usually punching and kicking and other physical attacks instead of weaving chakra.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 What he means is that, there are lots of situation in the manga where characters claims they use taijutsu instead of ninjutsu or else, to explicitly save their chakra. Meaning that taijutsu is a way to fight with the least amount of chakra.
Exemple :
- Sasuke in the 1st part, trying to fight Temari only with taijutsu before catching up with Gaara when their running away in the forest.
- Danzo using kicks on Karin, because he wanted to save chakra in his fight with Sasuke.
At least it sounds relevant for basic taijutsu moves.
Lee obviously uses more for the gates attacks. But even with base moves and without his weights, he has crazy speed. That's good enough for him to dodge some gentle fist attacks, gauge the ennemy and look for the moment to open the gates. As soon as he opened them, Neji, in all his due coolness, is screwed.
