  • This is the first part of two part mini series I have been working on iclone 8. There were countless bugs and errors and render failure that I had lost count. The Iclone 8 render engine is an absolute nightmare. My plan was to render on Ultra HD 4K but after wasting 12+ hours of failed renders I had to downscale to 1080p.
Feel free to ask if you wanna know anything, and if you like what you see please subscribe and stay for part two and more cinematics and tutorials in the future.

Brother, you keep honing your skills, really great work on the characters, the textures, the lighting and the fx... I feel that the camera work could be improved if you use a wider mix of lenses, you are using mostly wide lenses and very normal ones too, long lenses tend to feel more cinematic. Shoot with 50mm, 70mm, 90s 110s 140s 210s even 400s. Change your camera to those lenses and try framing different things.
Also shoot both objective and subjective angles, objective angles are the ones were you place the audience as a third person, subjective ones are were you place the audience in a way that they connect more with the characters and their experience.
Closeness to the eye line plays a big role in that respect.
You can try wide angles for crazy moments. Dutch angles for uneasiness.
Also this scene could have benefited from a slight drifting on each camera, like slow lateral tracking, slow dolly ins maybe fast ones on the fx part like a fast push, orbiting a Character slowly pivoting on him.
Also more extreme angles over the shoulder, over the hip, feet level, zenital, birds eye view, extreme close ups, etc
Since iclone is real time you could try a different take on the cameras for this piece thinking on making it more cinematic.
Watch league of legends cinematics or devil may cry, observe the camera work closely.
I hope this helps, great work man!!!

Thanks for the feedback mate, but this are the angles I actually wanted to use in this one thats why its precise what you see, I guess its person to person and based on taste. Still I will keep your suggestions in mind for my later cinematics, cheers.

@@worldofzen3d hey I just noticed one word changed from framing to freaking and it gave my comment a very different tone...sorry if it came out bad like that 😅
Sounds good, still I think this has a lot of potential to look a lot more cinematic but it's good that you follow what you like, cheers man

the effect (lens/depth) at 0:16 it doesn't feel right IMO 🤔also the focus feels messed up, if you instead hidden the background maybe with fog and darken the surrounding area it might work out better but putting the scene into Micro or Macro (I don't use it unless its a small tiny object I need to zoom in for a scene) it felt here like LEGO or something.

I always struggle with DOF in iclone 8 and still sucking hard, looking for some tips and tricks to overcome this issue as it basically ruins my render.

@@worldofzen3d no need to feel bad about it, use it for closes up (and very important scenes (and not from far away!) for example, in an interview, the focus will be at the speaker and the background will be slightly blurred, another example a bunch of heroes surrounded by something evil and they are all gathered in the middle of the scene like in a circle - in here you can play around with DOF to focus at different locations (foreground or background) make us (the viewers) hooked up to the scene and feel the danger thats happening. another tip you have your camera focused at your character maybe talking about feeling something happening then you can switch your camera far away from the character but you could keep them on sight but slightly far (to make the viewer feel the danger is actually happening close to them) while focused at the ground (DOF) for a quick scene like a hand coming out of the ground (zombie arm or something) with some freaky sound effect this quick switch with DOF makes your scene very interesting and in focus at whats happening. experiment with iclone parameters if they don't work as you wish you might need to do it out of iclone (I personally working in a big 3D animated project so I will use DOF in few shots just to blur things around)

@@worldofzen3d another quick tip simply watch movies how they use it and when they use to get better at it and gain more in depth & experience its priceless tip.
