There was a Nyjah documentary that was planned for release right after the Olympics if he won or medaled. He unfortunately did not medal so the Ty Evans doc never was released but his Shine On part was supposed to be with that doc. Would really like to to see that and hope they complete it at some point. Maybe extend it until his retirement so we see all his achievements! Definitely need more docs on top skaters because many are interesting dudes (Evan Smith, Yuto, Decenzo, etc.).

I 100% agree bro. I started skating at 5 and it was the funnest thing ever! Tore some cartilage at 19 and had to stop skating. Thought about getting back out there and then tore cartilage in my other knee at 22 and doctors said I couldn’t even run or jump off things. Really don’t wanna risk it but life got a lot less fun and happy after not being able to skate. I still watch the videos too
I turn 31 this year, Ryan has been such an inspiration ever since I was a little kid. This dude deserves everything out of life. God bless ya Ryan!

@@APR702Nah. My Generation as a 1990 Born Product was the Original Crews, the OJ Tony Hawk Games Cast and the more famous Videos. Sheckler and the rest came along when we were already in high school. His Heroes were Our Heros rather than him. He's more the Hero of the kids born in the late 90s. Millennials have an Insane Split. Born Pre-95 and Post-95 had such an insanely different upbringing. It's two generations slammed together really due to technology advancing exponentially. For the post 95 Millennials, sure Sheckler was popular when they were at the right ages. But Pre-95 it was the OG 90s Skaters.
I respect the hell out of Sheckler and he's 5 months older than me so same ages....but we were going to the same Summer Skate Camps at YMCA watching the same classic skate videos back then so he wasn't a Hero.
Nyjah also has always been pretty controversial so doubt he was many people's heros.
There was some talk about Ryan/Tony being mainstream skaters not accepted by "real street rat" boarders but Geoff Rowley is the other end of that spectrum and the hug at the end can only be described as pure blood brotherhood... love for everyone in this video, everyone watching it, and every skater soul on earth

Same people that hate on Ryan are the same kinda people that hate on Nyjah as well; I just can't take them seriously. All the people that get hate are famous and have money. With that kind of money they never have to step on a skateboard again, but they do it and they push themselves and are subjected to massive injuries for the love the skateboarding. If you love skateboarding and dedicate your life to it, your a real skater; period.

20 years ago I was skating every day after school with my brother. The guys in this video... they were the names we saw in video games, magazines and skate vids. At 17 I never fully grasped the drive, toughness and athleticism it takes to skate professionally. Now at 37 it's hard to watch Ryan and all these guys sustaining these injuries for the passion of the sport. Great doc. If I ever meet any of these dudes it'll be a handshake and a beer on me.

but fr I'm beyond happy that Sheck is finally getting his flowers as of late. When you look past the cameras and limelight, he has never stopped pushing, going bigger, and facilitating the next generation having more access and getting better faster with his Sandlot Times projects. He's a legend.
Sal hasn't changed a Oz remaining relevant throughout countless contractual broadcasting changes and platforms, myself being born in 95 his hype echoes in my mind as i witnessed every proverbial wall of action sports decimated. Ryan is a hammer glad to see this invigorating footie and the full circle transition to a bona-fide apostle of kick push

I think it was summer 2001. I was at Woodward Pennsylvania week 11. You were so little and so good. Your mom gave me a bunch of free volcom shit. And your litttle brother shane was already so good also. I used to love going to Woodward skate camp. I still skate weekly at age 36. Thank you for all you have done for skateboarding throughout all the years. You are a legend.

As a kid I remember catching every episode of life of Ryan as well as Rob & Big and every time the episode would end I would be so inspired to get outside in my board and just go as hard as I could. Man take me back to those days and that feeling . RIP BIG

Shecks has been in the prelims of SLS this year so that’s great to see. He’s put down a few hammers but I doubt he still has it in him to qualify. I remember early SLS days (2nd or 3rd year) when Shecks was competing with Nyjah for wins. He was really close to winning one which very few skaters can say. That full cab flip off the hip to drop is one of most legendary contest tricks ever! Dude is so fun to watch, similar to Joslin. Speed, energy, big and the crowd loves him.
ryan is that dude. I remember as a kid seeming him in sports illustrated for kids and just thinking how cool he was. then as I got older learning how hated he was, I just never understood it cuz everything I saw was him just nailing every trick. I'm glad he's found how to happy
Skateboarding is definitely akin to a drug. Even after watching video parts, i vicariously experience the fear and bliss that comes from someone doing something gnarly, but then quickly want to see more. Skateboarding is one of the most mentally and physically challenging sports ever. That heing said, it is endlessly rewarding.

One of the gnarliest dudes to ever walk the planet. And he acts like he just some regular guy. . Seen him once in San diego Ca and all I could do is walk past and say, "hey ryan" like super quick and didn't turn back cause I didn't want to draw attention to him

Side note - Love how much of a gentleman Rowley is. When the definition of gnar is speaking highly of you, bringing your board for you and running to you for a hug after sticking the make, you know you're rated in the skate world.

No doubt this dude is special. I pray for his body to heal and be protected from the damage it has taken over the years. It adds up with age and getting older is no joke. We need him healthy and around for a long time to come but of course not nearly as much as his beautiful young family does and will. Stay healthy from here on out Ryan. I'm from Brazil and I've been following him since 2006 when I started skating and I bought my first dvd which was almost round 3 and since then I've never stopped following his trajectory. This documentary is one of the best I've seen about skateboarders. I'm a big fan. One of the best skaters of all time. Legend 🔥🔥🔥
I've never been a "fan" of Sheckler, but also never a hater. I just didn't really care. That was a long time ago. Now I'm getting old too. Watching this... what a beast he is!!! Watched the whole thing. Utmost respect. This was amazing.

48 years young, and I'm still progressing at skateboarding. Still pushing my limits. Still inspiring others to improve. Still hanging with the homies. Still loving the pain with the gain. This film has inspired me to push even further along. Keep pushing, brothers and sisters. Keep pushing onward and forward.
As a kid I was scared of a lot of things until I started skateboarding. I got better and went bigger and fear was a different thing. It became something I could conquer. I didn’t fear bullies because the concrete hit way harder then they could. It taught a high amount of perseverance and achievement I never knew. Skateboarding shaped who I am today and I highly recommend it. Outside of breaking my tibia and fibula on two separate occasions it gave me more than it took from me.
I'm an Encinitas local born and raised... This is the first TH-cam comment I have ever left... I met Sheckler skating King Sessions at Moonlight parking lot IFYKYK and all I have to say is he is a fucking legend in the world of skateboarding and that spot is gnarlier than anyone would ever imagine when you see it in person. It's a spot you see when you get your first target board at 5 years old and think " damn that would be sick to skate" and this dude threw the heaviest trick down it in all its history. I’ll never forget being 12/15. My cousin shelby was obsessed with skating & i loved it. I always hyped her up to start skating as a girl & we became real close over it. Then sheckler blew up. She’d come over every weekend and we’d spend 10 hours alllll day skating. I remember being able to do all shuv-it variations but she could nollie really good and we both were jealous of it. Pvc rails. We both had sheckler decks and watched all his clips with nyjah too. She printed out every sheckler deck in real size, taped all the papers together and made a huge sheckler deck collage for me. 4x4’. Sheckler was like a older brother to us. 🙌🏼
Been skating since 83, this was unbelievably gnarly and inspiring. Sheckler is an animal and has some top notch surgeons.
Ryan you’ve always been the man always will be. Change one person or one persons perspective you’ve changed someone else’s world. What more could you do.

Ryan Sheckler is a legendary skateboarder I've been following him for a few years he is a skate warrior taking so many bails and falls but he keeps getting back up so inspirational not just for skateboarding but for life to never give up
Mad respect to this man. Been watching his parts for almost 20 years, did not expect him to put a new one out. He's already accomplished greatness in this sport. Just shows how much passion he has for skateboarding.

The quality of this video... unreal. Very moved by this as I sit here with my knee brace on, minor LCL injury from doing the simplest things at a park. We need more videos like this! The kid can take some pain that's for sure! Really difficult to recover and maintain that same energy for a video part but he managed to make it happen! GOAT at dropping hammers.
Best way I could put it as an old skateboarder is Sheck's sold out and then bought back in and showed he's in it for skateboarding for real. Good Story arc, glad to see him doing the real thing we call skateboarding and representing it.

I first was inspired by Ryan in Melbourne, Australia at the Globe World Cup back in the day, I still have the tiny deck signed by him with me today. An incredible story, an incredible human. A true artist in his craft. Epic doco.
I've been watching Sheckler since he ollied off of the building into the street on the Almost Skate video if I remember right. That's around the time I had been skateboarding for about a year and that blew my mind! One of the legends and always will be.
