  • While the answer to the question "which motorcycle helmet certification is the best?" depends on what you're looking for, it's nonetheless crucial to understand the stickers on the backs of our helmets.
    So, we've summarized the key features of ECE 2205, DOT, and Snell certifications along with SHARP rankings and the new FIM homologation.

    Sorry, but I didn't hear any information on ECE 22-06. Did I miss it? If not, I suggest an updated video. I already own one - the Arai Quantic and a Shoei NXR2 is now for sale in the UK.

    Did I miss the part where DOT testing and compliance is performed by the helmet manufacturers?

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct, the DOT testing is performed by the manufacturers, while the compliance is later enforced and verified by the DOT through sampling after the helmet has hit the market.
      Thanks for the question!

      DOT doesnt mean anything, anybody can slap that sticker into a helmet. Watch Fortnine videos for more info

      @@Championhelmets Many of the shorty helmets I see people wearing don’t even have the latest approved DOT sticker which probably means that it doesn’t meet any of the parameters set out by the Department of Transport and have never had any of their lids tested to see if they do in fact meet the low standard.

    I am recently having issues with the police saying the labels on my Helmet labelled ECER2205 are not legal since ECER is not ECE which is fake. But from my research and your video I see that your helmet is also ECER2205, can I know what does the R stands for and how should I say to the police next time? Thanks

    Hi ...im from europe so if my helmet as a good rate on the SHARP tests that means i can have confidence that the helmet will save me in a crash ? Or is there a best test than SHARP? Thx :)

    • @Championhelmets
      @Championhelmets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There a number of third party tests currently out there, each measuring slightly different aspects of the helmet. SHARP is excellent since it actually tests a larger range of impact speeds than required by ECE 22.05. SNELL in the US is also one of the most respected third party testing bodies since they really push helmets to the limit. The Crash score in Australia has also proven very comprehensive.
      Thanks for the question!

    How is sharp testing different from ece 22.06?

    • @martinfoster5163
      @martinfoster5163 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good question. ECE22.06 has a similar protocol but gives a certificate. You don't get a rating. SHARP gives a rating, ECE22.06 has a more sophisticated rotational test. Overall, I think ECE22.06 took much of the purpose for SHARP testing away so SHARP is rethinking their protocol to go above and beyond ECE22.06 somehow.

      @@martinfoster5163 well that's new to hear. Coz i bought helmet based on sharp ratings before 22.06. Now that it's here, i might buy 22.06 passed even if it's not Sharp tested. Thanks for the Answer
