Harry Chapin’s Cat’s In The Cradle still resonates strongly with me, there is so much heartfelt truth in what he wrote. The song felt like a novel or a movie. Jim Croce was another song writer and singer who evoked similar imagery in his work, two of the great song writers of the 70s.

I wept when I heard Mr.Harry Chapin was killed in a automobile accident. He was a wonderful man and I had a couple of short conversations with him after attending his concerts in Duluth, Minnesota. RIP Harry, I love you and miss you. ❤.

There is an excellent documentary on Harry Nilsson called "Who is Harry Nilsson And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him?" Highly recommended.

One I would list here too is Jimmy Dewar, LEGENDARY bassist and lead vocalist in ROBIN TROWER BAND and prior to that, Stone The Crows. Been a long time walkin' that Bridge of Sighs, Day Of The Eagle baby!

Pattie Santos, the female lead singer and percussionist for It's A Beautiful Day, died in a car wreck less than 1 month after her 40th birthday on December 14th, 1989.

So many talented songwriters & performers fall thru the cracks. Thanks for reminding us of their great contributions to some great songs. ❤️🙏🏻

Great episode! Andrew Gold formed the duo Wax in the 80's with 10cc member, Graham Gouldman and the duo had 2 big hits, Right Between The Eyes and Bridge Tou Your Heart.

Great episode!. Learned a lot about Andrew Gold. Good 70's theme episode. For us Gen X'ers, a couple ideas for 80's: Tony Lewis from The Outfield and Laura Brannigan

      And he was in Wax.

I’m surprised John didn’t mention Wax, they had a near-hit with Bridge To Your Heart in 1987 or 88, a great song and a very creative, well done music video!

I know it doesn’t really count, but over the past half decade, Ron Keel has in his words “I’ve gone back to my roots, sold all the sports cars and bought this…” gestures toward the bed of the beat up dodge? truck he was sitting in.
btw his country album is great.
Similarly ton Dan, Blackie Lawless (WASP) some years ago went into a whole born again Christian phase, I mean there were subtle religious images in the WASP album art from back when they were big (big but not huge, since they had a gold album and not a platinum).

What gets me mixed up is the sequence of the videos. THE VIDEOS ARE IN DIFFERENT PLAYLISTS ON THIS TH-cam CHANNEL. THEY NEED TO PUT ALL THE SEQUENCED VIDEOS IN ONE PLAYLIST SO THERE WILL NEVER BE ANY CONFUSION ON WHERE THE NEXT OR PREVIOUS VIDEO IS LOCATED! 🤷🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️

The only one I disagree with is Harry Chapin, there definitely was fanfare and absolute shock when he died. But you are right that there are many who we don't hear about, and it's like because their hits were in the 70s and 80s, they are forgotten.

Saying Chapin died without fanfare is absurd.

Disappointed Harry Nillson was for gun control and infringing on our second Amendment, perhaps he would have followed the Woke activist celebrities we see today. Great musician for sure.
