Benjamin Orr was a LEGEND...Though he didn’t get the recognition he deserved he was quite the musician and lived his life doing what he loved most, performing and making great music with THE CARS and his solo project THE LACE album...Believe me when I say he was deeply admired and loved by many 😍🎶♥️💯

Thank you for recognizing Benjamin Orr! He was a Cleveland guy through and through. I still can’t believe it took the Rock Hall of Fame 14 years after the band’s initial eligibility date (2004) to induct The Cars.

I don't care who missed his passing. I missed him. There's the kind of looking wig hair, but I don't care. The cars didn't sound like any other band. I saw them and the video TV stage was wrong and stupid. I saw their drummer play in a super human style because I guess he was trying to keep up with a studio drum machine. The cars were amazing. Benjamin Orr is still being honoured and remembered by all of his many his fans from all around the world, also despite having passed away 20 years ago I meet music lovers who had never heard of him and become fans and another generation of fans is born. What a legacy this amazing musician left behind. He battled cancer with such courage and continued doing what he loved (which was performing live with his band Big People) until he did not have enough strength left which was just weeks before his passing. Benjamin, we still hear what you're playin' .Warm regards from Tasmania, Tia

Benjamin Orr was always my favorite member of The Cars. Even though the slow ballad song Drive was the only number one single from The Cars, Benjamin Orr sang a lot of the fun songs and the most haunting songs by The Cars. Benjamin Orr's solo album The Lace is by far much better than any solo Ric Ocasek album. The album is definitely not what you would expect for Benjamin Orr. But I love the album and I'm glad that he made it! If you've never heard it, give it a try I think you'll love it!

If your seeking singers who did not get much fanfare I’d add Eddie Money on the list he was mentioned only briefly but not much more after that Ric Ocasek went days later and was the talk of the town for days

Toy Caldwell, James Dewar, Mariska Veres. Toy Caldwell is also under-appreciated as a guitarist, he's my all-time favorite guitarist. But Toy was also an incredible singer singing Marshal Tucker's biggest hit, "Can't You See", "Everyday I Have The Blues", and the smokin' hot "I Hear the South Calling Me" from his solo record, and all the Tucker songs he sang on his solo tours (he wrote all the great Tucker classics, but sang them really well with his own group). Toy was a triple-threat... great guitarist, great singer, great song-writer. James Dewar is my favorite all-time singer, although highly under-rated, he sang on the masterpiece Robin Trower albums "Bridge of Sighs" and "For Earth Below" as well as many other incredible Trower albums. Mariska Veres was just plain hot!.... singing the classic "Venus" and many other great songs with the Shocking Blue.

Speaking of "Woodstock", we really didn't hear much about Joe Cocker when he passed either. Billy Jones and Hughie Thomasson, both known for their incredible guitar playing with the Outlaws, but also both were great signers too. And one more guy who played at Woodstock... Johnny Winter, another great guitarist who could sing great too. And then there was Jimi Hendrix, who rarely gets credit for his great lead vocals... but I guess we can't really say he passed without any fanfare.... but I still insist, Jimi was very under-rated as a singer.

Hi John. Thanks for your videos. I'd suggest Chrissy Amphlett for your next one, lead singer of the Divinyls. Sad ending for a great singer, had both cancer and MS. Good to see Eric Woolfson acknowledged. I certainly mourned his passing. Always love listening to his syrup smooth singing on Nothing Left To Lose and Sooner Or Later.

Yes! Sandy Denny was fantastic in The Fairport Convention. I'm American but I learned about her in MOJO Magazine. Her legacy is immense in the U.K. and her other band Fotheringay is also great. And Laura Nyro deserves more recognition.

Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy, another vote. My older brother bought their Jailbreak LP when we were in high school and it became one of my favorite albums of all time. Their biggest hit (Boys are Back in Town) was maybe the 3rd or 4th best track on the album, though certainly had a great hook and deserved the success it had. If I ever make it to Ireland I'm definitely going to visit his gravesite and pay my respects.

Sandy Denny; a sad story, but what a wonderful voice and a great songwriter. Although she died so young, 43 years ago this month, her legacy lives on with all the female artists who were influenced by her. I love The song "Drive." Along with "You Might Think." There are other artists who died without ANY fan fare. They did not reach the height of fame as these as song writer nor singer. That was because of the type of music they sang. Could you do one on the sixties genre of what was called Bubble Gum music? Many artists fit that category. I still like that music and I just want to know how many of the artists have died and which ones have died. Most of them did not get to this level of fame.

Laura Nyro is probably the most influential songwriter in contemporary music. She is revered in the music industry, but remains relatively obscure with the public. See Nyro TH-cam discussions by Elton John, Todd Rundgren, Alice Cooper, Narada Michael Walden and Sara Bareilles. The recent mega hit Drivers Licence by Olivia Rodrigo is based on Nyro's You Don't Love Me When I Cry (1969). The recent hit Runner by the band Tennis references 4 Nyro songs. Several tribute songs have been written for Nyro starting with Todd Rundgren's Baby Lets Swing (1970) to Mean Streets (2014) by Tennis. Nyro came from the Bronx.

Patty Donahue comes to mind, for me. A life long smoker, it finally caught up with her, and she died of lung cancer in 1996. Another is Demis Roussos, who died of cancer in 2015. A life cut short was the singer Louise Dean, who was killed in a hit and run accident 1995. Although she only had a couple of small hits in the UK, she was immensely talented. She was only 24.

I don't know if this will generate much care from the general population, but one of the greatest musicians in the arena of avant-garde progressive rock jazz fusion world ambient music, Tony Duhig, co-founder of the criminally-overlooked underground British band Jade Warrior, passed from our world in, I believe, late 1990. I think it was a heart attack, but I know there is more to the story. Tony's widow, Camilla Duhig, is a good friend of mine and can be reached on Facebook. Please give Jade Warrior's music a listen and give Tony the loving tribute he so richly deserves. Thank you. ✌️💜

    3) David Byron (Uriah Heep)
    4) Bob Hite (Canned Heat)
    5) Greg Lake (ELP)
Not necessarily in this order of course...
But another one I definetely would add in one of the "Only the good die young" episodes is Trish Keenan, the somehwat moody sounding singer of the British band Broadcast, known for "Come on let's go" etc. (1968-2011)
