This is very informative. It is my first viewing of the demonstration on the best way to install an electric motor mount. I’m working on a all wood 1/8 scale hydro that originally I wanted to install a .67 (11cc) nitro marine engine. I’m going electric instead of nitro.

I have ran electrics in competition I like them myself Instant Power you just have to match the prop boat weight and type of boat to the motor and ESC you going to be using these motors can put out as much as five or six horsepower so the motor mount is a very important thing you want it where it doesn't Flex the bottom of the boat because that'll misalign your flex shaft

When you built this hull out of wood did you use 1/8 balsa or 1/8 ply. I have the plans for a 1/8 scale it says balsa im not too fond of balsa its a very light wood but its not as strong...Ive built a few wooden mystics and never use any balsa.I was just curios if the plans say balsa just for making it lighter.

birch ply all the way but 1/16 was used on this hull.

Makes no sense to me to measure so many times when you can't stop touching it after getting it centered. As much as you moved it around there's no way that it's perfectly centered.

is there a company that sells these hulls already complete (meaning built and painted) just a empty hull. or do they only come as a kit to build? by the way your boat is absolutely beautiful. I'd love to buy one and install my own electronics I just prefer to not have to build. the last one I built took me forever and i literally totalled it the second time i had it in the water. ripped the left sponson completly off the boat and broke the hull in 3 places. second time on water, and it took me almost 4 months to build the boat. I'd prefer to just buy prebuilt hulls after that. I just built a v bottom that runs really well and fast (low 60's) fast for me. I'm sure to many that's not fast at all.

Ivan builds boats this is where this one came from but he is old check at Ivan's boat works and he might build you one. Sorry for the limiting results the only one I know that builds a boat of this caliper .

MHZ can do anything you like. They can do a complete lnstall to just small tasks. I just ordered a mono hull yesterday and paid them to do the cutouts for the drives. It's a twin waterjet drag boat, and I hate cutting for jet drives. But I will be gluing them in myself, installing motor mounts and all the rest of it. But you can have them do it to what ever level you like.
Here's an example of a smaller hydro hull that's a great runner.

Here's an example of their typical ARTR packages. Not cheap, but top shelf quality never is.

And you can go as nuts as you like and include airbrush stuff.
