Sam is now and will forever be Dean's little brother, Dean feels the need to be the big brother and be strong for Sam, he can't allow himself to show weakness to Sam. With other people and with Cass he can be vulnerable, but for Sam he has to be strong.
I think in part it's also that Dean had a kind of parental role to Sam as Sam grew up. As a kind of parent Dean discussing his emotions, in particular vulnerable ones, was something Dean didn't want to put on Sam. He wanted to be Sam's rock and it pretty much became engrained into Dean not to share with Sam things that would chip away at that rock/parental figure image for Sam. So even now that they are adults he still can't do it - it's reflex at this point to wall it off to Sam.
Misha is such an amazing actor. One second you see Lucifer , just one second later its Cas. I'm just speechless, this man is so talented. Casifer is so fun to watch you will love him. In my opinion he is the best Lucifer we've seen.
Yes on a surface level you could say Dean is "pining for Amara" BUT he's not only not pining for her, he's scared of her and their bond, he is trying to reject her.. he doesn't want to be with her, that terrifies Dean. And pining means you WANT someone, not a forced bond. He is tempted by Amara? yes but does he want Amara? no.. Also I see Amara as a representation of Dean's depression, so that is nonsense. So WHO could Dean be pining for??? Question of the century LOL I'm not even gonna answer, just leave it there lol And the secret to live a LONG and HAPPY LIFE is to follow your heart, okay there, what is in your heart Dean??? (Nope not Amara, and following Amara means death so???) We are talking about retirement again. You can see that Dean WANTS that, he wants more. Remember the confession scene. Dean is attacked by the banshee bc he is vulnerable, all of the banshee's victims were going through some type of heart break, so Dean is heart broken, ok there again.. And yea he talks to "Cas" and not Sam. I think after the cases with the guy and the wife miscommunicating and ending horrible he realised he needed to do better himself so he tries and talk about what he's feeling with Cas. What a beutiful talk but this is the winchesters, they have communication issues, and while what Casifer said to Dean is something actual Cas may think, that's not how he would say it, there would be ~miscommunication there ajsahdgfj this show indeed and now he is confused about why Cas seems weird. Dean wants that sunset and he will get it if he follows his heart. He will let the light in. The openness and vulnerability. The freedom and love and life instead of oblivion and numbness. I love seeing when Sam connects to somebody outside Dean, cmon he needs that so bad. And Eileen is a hunter! someone who understands the life!!
The fact that the show frames Sam not looking for Dean as some great failing is stupid. He had every reason to believe Dean was dead and they had promised each other they wouldn't try to get each other back. As for the guilt over Amelia it's not like he went looking for some perfect life as soon as his brother was out of the way. They ended up together and they were both grieving, the fact that so many are willing to point to people trying to help each other through pain as of a betraly of Dean makes makes me despair for the intelligence of humanity.
don't try to justify it!it was a bad thing!he didn't even bother himself to find out his brother is alive or not!and hadn't every reason to think either!just saw him disappear and said "he's gone!I should move on!" and after knowing what his brother has been through didn't even bother to apologize which made it even worse!and forced Dean to chose as well!twice!he didn't apologize for those things either! and in here I thank Lucifer a thousand times for showing him what a fool he was!
I agree. Sam not looking for Dean was understandable. Anytime they go with the big ending one of them usually dies or gets trapped. Seeing as how Dean was caught in an literal explosion. It makes sense that Sam thought he was dead. Also, he was tired of the same old same old. Everytime they go looking for each other something inevitably comes along for the ride.

Finally, thanking/agreeing with the entity that literally tortured Sam for 180/5000 years who's entire motivation is to manipulate Sam into saying Yes by making Sam feel like a failure who needs Lucifer's help (using manipulation techniques Dean uses often might I add) is just. Yes!the relationship between Dean and Cas is so much more complex than what it looks!even though it was Lucifer that whole time, still showed that Dean feels the comfort and safety by being and opening up to Cas!because in the past it was shown so many times that even in his worst decisions,Cas saw and understood his movements while Sam didn't!when he had the mark,in first days he refused to show it to Cas because he knew Cas would be worried and angry at him or will try to stop him from hurting himself!he feels safe and guarded by Cas without getting pressured!and even if the whole older brother thingy is on the board, and like a parent,Dean doesn't want to look weak in front of Sam,but these are the reasons why he always chose Cas to open up to sooner than all!even though the fact that it was Lucifer,I'm happy that Cas didn't heard that words from Dean for some reasons!
