Hey guys? It’s not a competition. But on that note . . . . ‘Dollhouse’ did get two seasons and double the amount of episodes that ‘Firefly’ did. And the movie doesn’t. . . doesn’t count.
Great twist at the end. The whole thing was a perfectly executed ruse to flush her out. Loved to see Gunn as the suave lady killer instead of the muscle. Remember back to "In the wings" when he was wearing a tux? He does clean up nicely. Sort of a spoiler, but this does open his character arc to a broader horizon.
I love this season and I think the entire arc is amazing. Charisma did such a good job after Spin the Bottle playing Cordy just slightly "off". I remembered how confused I was watching this the first time, good fun! And it's true, Cordy would never sleep with Connor.
Season 4 of Angel is by far the most exciting, can't wait for the next episode, season of the Buffyverse. From the end of episode 5 all the way till the end of the season, every episode leads into the next episode.
Connor was supposedly raised in the hell of hell dimensions. It's not described well enough, but it shouldn't be surprising that he's easily manipulated by someone who has shown him kindness. He hasn't had enough normal human interactions to have learned to detect such manipulation. In fact, I think he knows or understands too much about the world for someone with his background. (Writers with little exposure to totally disparate cultures can find it difficult to accurately portray extreme cultural ignorance, or maintain it in-character.) As for The Master occupying Cordelia's body (to take your hypothesis), my issue is that it is portrayed inconsistently, even if it is trying to act like Cordelia whenever any other character is around. The language it uses -- is it a villain who swears, or one like the mayor, who is evil but clean-cut, for example. Prone to violence, or firmly in control of its emotions? Quippy, taunty, gentle, saccharine -- it's just inconsistent, which is more jarring than just not acting like Cordelia. Also, the deep Master's voice doesn't have the same cadence as Cordelia, even when we see them saying the same thing, which I think is wrong. And actually, Gunn is just the muscle. We know how and where he grew up and what he has spent years doing. I haven't heard an in-story reason for him to be educated or having acquired any sort of sophisticated taste, not while hunting vamps pretty much since he's been a child. Not stupid, in fact he's quite sharp and tactical. But not learned. At least, that's been my understanding, and every time he steps out of that mold it feels like breaking character. Anyway, thanks for sharing, Dakara. And to your editor, as well, for doing a fantastic job.
Glad you're enjoying this season so much, it's not my favorite, I didn't even remember that Gunn called it a soap opera as well, but all the emotional relationship stuff wasn't for me. Having said that, I do love many aspects and story arcs of this season, Angelus being the best to me alongside Faith's return. Still, I always love seeing people loving Angel whatever the season. Connor being the way he is was very much on purpose, Whedon is an extremely talented & intelligent writer, issues aside. Connor grew up alongside one single other human being in a hell dimension fighting monsters. Yeah, he's probably easy to manipulate, he has absolutely zero social wariness or experience with manipulation. Plus, his age and Cordy, Dark Cordy(?), hooking up with him after he lost his Dad and the team, both his Dads after sinking Angel. It makes her his whole world I'm guessing. Don't misunderstand, the character is wearying & I'm fine with him not being onscreen often but there are reasons he is the way he is. Have a great rest of your week Dakara and an even better weekend! Love Gwen showing back up too.
Just remember that be the end of Angel it had a larder viewership on a lesser known tv station than Buffy did by its end. Also my vote for your next show is Arcane, its season 2 is coming up and its a real short show.
Quality multi-genre shows like this, Buffy, or Supernatural that had long seasons knew to break things up a bit, to kind of ease the tension and inject a bit of levity into otherwise dark story arcs.
I’ve typically gone along with the majority opinion that season 4 is horrible, and I’m still not a fan of where they took Cordelia & Connor (not just the relationship but their individual characters…both of them deserved better) Having said that, your reactions have made me realize there are some banger episodes this season & although the character choices were questionable, the execution was pretty good & the results are entertaining the fact that the show was as self aware as it could have been about the ridiculousness of some of the storyline helps a lot
I'm not fan of Angel season 4 too. Cordelia and Connor deserves better. Really. I meant I fear that everybody forgot Cordelia Chase is Connor's surrogate mom figure when he was baby. Connor should have girlfriend name Sunny who's same age as him. And Connor should have friends of his own who's same age as him.
Connor should still be a baby. We let him be lost. We can’t fix what’s been broken the whole time. I love Connor. He breaks my heart. Especially as a dad myself 👍🏾👍🏾
To be fair, I don't know that we know Fred was a virgin when she went to Pylea. She may have had some brief, awkward Science Camp or Church Camp sex in her past. Either way, he's kind of a legendary Swordsman at this point. 😁
Personally, I highly doubt she was. Fred, as a teen, didn't come off all that "innocent" and she was probably mid twenties before opening the portal to Pylea.
I've seen a few votes for Dollhouse, which I love... But also "Nobody Wants This" with Kristen Bell was way better than I expected and kind of appropriate after The Good Place. Just thought I'd mention it since it can be hard finding new loves.
I'm so glad Gwen reminded Gunn he's not just muscle. He's been a LEADER.
DEFINITELY
He's street smart like Lucious Lyon.
He usually has the best ideas, when everyone else is stumped.
@@eberwald4438 his younger sister Alonna is the one who absolutely believes in him the most more than everybody. She believes his true potential.
I've been having fun the past few minutes inserting my own cuss words into that censor beep.
Have you heard of the series Dollhouse? It is a Whedon creation and the main character is played by Eliza Dushku.
The weakest of his series, in my opinion, but still quite good. And since she about to run out of Buffy....🤞
@@SilentBob731 The BEST, far superior to Firefly.

DOLLHOUSE IS SO GOOD! One of my favorite shows!!!!!
Wesley:"It's not always about holding hands."
Gwen: "I could, you know, maybe hold hands."
Cue The Beatles....
His name is David Monohan, yes, he was on Dawson's Creek.
To quote Hattori Hanzo from Kill Bill: "You have Japanese tongue!" 😂

Too soon? 😢🤗

haha anyone else like the fact she beeped out bitch and not fuck lol dunno why that made me laugh love your reactions btw lol
I'd have expected Gunn to gift Morimoto-san a black swan. Maybe react to Curb Your Enthusiasm? JK, my vote is for Dollhouse.
As Ian Dury said, You'll see glimpses. The Angelus catch was a bit more obvious, but you're very good.

Didn't care much for that episode, except for the very satisfying ending of course...😅
The English - 6 part miniseries - Insanely good, for your consideration (2022)
Drama / Western
"Soulless Cordelia"
You mean, like, early S1 of Buffy?
It was good to have a little breather from the main story arc this season.

Gunn said it best for me, turgid supernatural soap opera (and not the good kind)
So Gunn is a major V card taker, first Fred and now Gwen, lol
