Awesome boats - we have a custom orange one to be used as a tender on our liveaboard trawler - extremely stable, efficient through the water and heaps of open floor space making it the ideal tender... dive and fishing boat... get one!..

Just took delivery of a SmartWave 3500 here in Australia. Was looking at getting a SW4200 Centre Console as well. The FatCat stability for older passengers and the flat front with large deck is perfect for boarding off jetty’s - it’s much better suited to our uses. If FatCat did a 4500 poly version with 60hp it would be perfect for us on the Noosa River. Go on FatCat, do it, you know you want too...

Hi Adam, it would handle it well but like any boat heading off there, it relies on the skill of the operator to judge the conditions and their abilities when going through bars/waves. For comparisons sake, It has more mass than a thundercay and it's slower but still turns in a similar tight radius to give plenty of options. The cockpit is above the waterline and is self draining. The catamaran hull is supremely stable with lots of reserve buoyancy. It feels safe with the wide side decks and high sides. The boat dries out level so if it got nasty and you had to run it up onto the beach, it'll still be easy to get on a trailer. To sum up, the boat has what it takes but like anything, the operator has to know their limits and what paths/speeds to take when heading off a surf beach (which it sounds like you do)

Have this boat. With two on board if both are sitting nearer the back the boat runs and trims perfectly with slightly nose up and spray only on the back 1/3 of the hulls. We sit inside the boat and dry as a bone. Cruises with a 40 HP at 19 knots and tops out at 26 knots
