You should separate the male rabbits at eight weeks to prevent breeding. Also, be sure to restrain their legs when you pick them up. The muscle density in their hind legs is so strong that they can actually break their own back when resisting being pick up, and such.
Giant breeds don't become mature enough to breed for 6 to 9 months, but 5 months is safe

The lengths Lucy has came in her training. Can’t believe she will be 3.5 already. It’s like watching a kid grow up 😂 from being an ornery little pup, not bringing it all the way in to dropping at your feet. Tracking deer(sorta). Staying when needs too. Lucy has a bunch of fans lol

Rabbits are definitely weird, they dont necessarily look like the parents at all, lop ears like Theo has is a recessive gene that the babies more than likely wont have if bred with a rabbit that has erect ears like Sheila. 👌👌
You don’t have to drain the lake to seal it, if you add bentonite it will naturally get drawn to where it’s leaking. But if it’s leaking all over it might take a couple treatments
Definitely would fill what he has there currently with a lot of it then work a rather large amount into the current exposed banks and it should fill rather quickly with some good storms. The lake bed was realll soft.

I'm gonna bring it back to eighth grade biology class. Floppy ears in rabbits is a recessive trait. What this means is for the babies to have floppy ears the best chance of that happening would be the father and mother both having floppy ears. Now big Sheila has upright ears which is the dominant trait. So the only way for those babies to have floppy ears would be that one of the big sheila's parents would've had to have floppy ears. If they both had upright ears then you would need to look at big Sheila's grandparents and if both of them had upright ears then the likelihood of those babies having floppy ears 0%. What matters is if big Sheila has two dominant upright your traits or does she have one floppy ear trait. If big Sheila has the recessive trait then you have a 50% chance of those babies having floppy ears. Not having floppy ears does not mean that Theo is not the father.

You should have built a barn when you were building the house. Anyone who keeps as many animals as you do needs a barn. It protects the animals and gives you a peace of mind in the winter.
A barn for what? The animals in the wild are protected by land and trees barns are dangerous for animals too be in lol you clearly mam or sir or sir mam never clearly have been on a “farm” in that area. Which he doesn’t claim to be a farm since they aren’t farming any thing yet. Minnows soon tho hopefully

Man there is nothing like a great dog, mans best freaking friend. Nothing but love for there owners. A good scratch nice bowl of food and you have bonded for life.
You should put trail cameras all over your property, including the pond and update us once a month with any cool pictures you get.
Ngl Flair you gotta move the fish to the hatchery pond and let the main lake fill. Also I highly recommend that you watch or even get advice from BamaBass on your lake bc doing it right the first time is always better than doing it right the second time.
I would focus on trying to get the electric ran to the well before winter so that you can keep it flowing 24/7. How is the filters coming along for the hatchery pond coming? I would love to see that hooked up and be stocked! I can't wait!
You dont need to drain the pond at all to add benonite. It will sink to the bottom thru water and actually be sucked towards leaks and or just fall to seal entire bottom. Although if drained u can see exactly where you put it down but it is not required at all and if the entire pond needs to have it put down it will take multiple layers either way to fill the entire bottom and seal it enough to stop water leakage. I had a crack open in my pond and it took 3 times to seal it and did it without draining the pond at all.
Your doing just fine. I did the same thing your doing. I have a 3-4 acre pond... clay and shale bottom here in ohio. 3 springs naturally feed it. During a drought it took 35 days to fill it to the top. I added fish just like you. 500 bass and 1500 bluegill and redear. A year later I added more minnows. 4 years now I haven't had to add anything but beneficial bacteria. That is it. No aerator no fountain no nothing. Your doing just fine. Let it sit and at this point you just need to wait. It sucks but wait a year and come back. You will have growth all around and inside and fish will already be a year into their system. Then all you do is add structure and food. Good luck
Here's a couple idea to fill the pond.
- hook up to a drainage system if your location has one
- clear a watershed and make your own drain system to catch extra surface water
- pump water from a nearby river or stream
- contact your city/county for information on alternative ways (you may find them quite helpful)
I agree. Sometimes the city is actually helpful in weird ways. SXSBlog on TH-cam is getting HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of pounds of free dirt delivered everyday bc their city has nowhere to go with it.
Perfect place to practice the cast net plus can use that the check on the fish and see if they are growing over time
You should do a micro fishing video with the bluegills in a few months
Nice to see you put a trail camera down by the pond to see what's hanging around it. I also think you need a sane net to try and catch the bluegill. With you walking in the water the scatter before you can even take a scoop. Stay Safe & God Bless!!

All of the bunny ears are short now, but I would expect them to grow and flop as they get older! We've got lionheads, and the newborn ears are super short! The ears look like chipmunk ears at first! 🙂

Your going to need to feed those bluegills. Purina makes a great protein pellet for game fish. Good luck. The bigger those fish get and the more there is and the hotter it is the faster the oxygen will decrease in the water.

Throw some livestakes in around the edges of the pond to stabilize the dirt and reduce erosion, it would be a really cool project. Maybe some black willows or something.
Also helps with temperature regulation (shade) and forage (bugs, frogs, etc).

Im thinkin you should set up solar panels and a battery bank to run the well for the backyard pond and hatchery... when not running the well during the winter you can run fountains or warmers in the hatchery

Koi farmers use these long drag nest sort of things to corral their fish in shallow water. That's something y'all can use if you do have to drain the pond and save as many fish as you can.
