The plastic Koyorad Evo 6 OEM replacement has its upper pipe in a different position so you can run a straight hose to the thermostat housing which keeps it away from the exhaust manifold.
For the red Evo, I would recommend spraying all the cavities of the chassis with corrosion protection grease. I've had good experiences with Mike Sanders' protection grease. It's a bit messy to apply, but it should help prevent the red Evo from suffering the same fate as the silver one. I used it on my 1999 Galant EA0, which I got five years ago. Back then, I took care of the rust, which was surprisingly rare on that car. Afterward, I sprayed every cavity I could find with Mike Sanders' grease and coated the entire underbody as well. Two months ago, I had the mandatory inspection (German TÜV). When the car went up on the lift, the inspector looked underneath, his eyes widened, and he said, "Well, that's conserved." He skipped the usual search for rust entirely. So yeah, I can definitely recommend that stuff.
How things Paul? Good on the partout. It was coming to a safety issue as it was. On the rad, if I remember correct, the 4-5-6 rad can fit and the top is more offset. So you can look into that. Hopefully you plan on keeping EVERYTHING electrical wise, even if you already have extra. Nothing better than knowing you have spare wiring and connectors in a pinch. especially as these things are getting harder to find stuff like that by the year. Hoping you have a good season with u and the fam!
I'm great Raoul, hope you are too! You are correct, the 4-5-6 evo rad lets you run the straighter top hose. I'm looking at that style CSF option. However, I am also looking into the STM rad where the the radiator cap is moved to the thermostat housing. I'm planning to keep most all parts until the new red evo is up and running. Crazy how many people are reaching out to buy stuff already though. Like sharks smelling blood, everyone's looking for deals. ha
Hahaha yeah, I expected you'd be called for stuff. Sometimes it's easy to forget these cars are over 20 yrs old. I never expected to see the day a pair of seats could go for upwards of $1000! The STM looks like a good setup for sure.
2:31 just put the nuts back on the struts. Preferably BEFORE you jack up the car. Ask me how I know. 🙃 All kidding aside, thanks for giving that old gal a hell of a life!
Very cool! I love seeing cars with even just a little life left in them emjoyed as much as possible. You got to enjoy it more than most! Got to enjoy it fir what it was technically designed for! Most Evos dont have that ownership experience, andvi get it! No reason to abuse a "nice condition" Evo. Yours was the perfect example to use! My Evo has less rust than yours but your engine bay looks much more rust-free than mine. That's surprising! I have only photos of the superficial rust in the back. Curious what it looks like with the major components removed. I'm trying to get my intermediate shaft out. Its not budging! Any tricks to getting it out?
Getting back to where I left off with my Evo… do you have any recommendations for shops to balance a rebuilt turbo? TD05HR-05 20G… thought I was cool 4 years ago and bought a Kinugawa rebuild kit, but I can hear the blade scraping… lmao. Probably just going to purchase a FP Green.
How much you get the red car for? I was going to pick that up but was out of town at the time. Also, consider running the mishimoto evo 7 rad in your evo, its got the relocated straight through hose design.

Been waiting for this vid!!?
WOW..... that's scary to know you were driving that thing. Looking forward to the Red Evo build!
It still felt solid going around the corners. Would hate to see what would happen if it was ever rear-ended though.
Koyorad ftw I have not looked back ever since I upgraded to it
KOYO is ebay junk
greddy rad is best
@ have been running them for years and I can definitely say it’s not junk, you can actually tell it does something when comparing temps
GGEEEEZZZZ!!! This is why I HATE THE RUSTBELT!! Can’t wait to go south. Wouldn’t need multiple cars due to seasonal changes!😮😮😮😮

This is one of the top options i was looking into.

@@andydhillon1977 thanks. You just need a slide hammer for the intermediate shaft. A few good taps and it should pop out.
Aren’t you glad you bought that new OEM 4G63 for the silver Evo? Now you get to re-shell that nice engine 🤙
heck yea. Seemed like a crazy purchase at the time, but new OEM 4g63 is always a good idea.

I don't know anyone that can balance a turbo.
