I'm gonna keep rocking my favorite sports team's jersey (during the season). I wear it with a team hat, black or dark denim jeans with minimalist white or onyx sneakers, and a sweet timepiece on my wrist, and I get tons of compliments on my look as an O.G. Some of us can pull it off at our age, and some of us can't. I can! 😎
yes the jersey one was complex to me because I see a lot of fashion blogs saying just dont wear jerseys after 40 but I see people in their 40s and even 50s with salt and pepper wearing baseball jerseys casually and some look fire. Not one of em looked bad or I thought they were trying to be young. Baseball jerseys just look good to me in general so im on the fence about that one.

"There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes." Doctor Who quote aside, I have to disagree slightly on the Jordans. I feel the style you showed has a classic silhouette that if the shoe is a part of your personality, it can be rocked.
Depends on which Jordans and how you wear them Jeff. I've worn my Jordan 1s, 3s, and 4s with a blazer, t-shirt and jeans and they never looked juvenile.
Appreciate the advice OG but I have to disagree with you on sneakers. It’s all a matter of perspective and fashion is subjective. I agree with you on the super trendy stuff or big basketball type sneakers but Jordan 1’s have become for a generation of men what Converse Chuck Taylors are. They defy age. The mistake is when older dudes try to match their sneakers to their clothes and adopt younger trendy looks. It’s also an income disparity. When rich guys wear sneakers they are stylish (JayZ) average dudes are told to let it go. I don’t seek approval or permission from society to wear what makes me comfortable. Sneakers aren’t acceptable in every situation but when I’m running errands or even dressed casually I’m in sneakers. I used to wear a suit and tie everyday prior to working from home due to Covid. The last thing I wanted to wear was a blazer and hard bottoms after work or on weekends. Do you, wear what makes you comfortable. Respectfully.
@@scottclay4154 great post, fam! one could turn what society does at the moment to get some ideas (and, even inspiration) on how your age group moves. trends change and do so often (e.g., should and shouldn't wear/do). but, ultimately, you are the iron fist on what you put on your back and feet
I agree with most of his suggestions especially wearing Air Jordan’s and ripped jeans but the problem with a lot of older men is they don’t work out . Not keeping your body fit will take away from anything your wearing especially if your core isn’t together. So my advice for men over 50 is to get your OG body in the gym or your really gonna be an OG!
Ripped jeans and Jordans are not the same... Jordans were made for me and my age group,... The only time we wore ripped jeans is because we'd ripped them fighting, playing a sport and running from dogs and police ... I don't do 1s but every shoe Michael wore is cool for me and the age group... Them after retirement (2nd one) joints were made for the kids... Saying you shouldn't rock the brand when you're slender and athletic, even at our age, shows Jeff is catering to a specific percentage of men, even if it is subconscious...
J’s weren’t made for the people wearing them today. They were made for me. I was 14 when the 1’s came out. They age out our hip hop vets even though no other genre of music does that. I’m not about to get aged out of what I like.
I will be 40 soon in a few months but iam not giveing up my j’s that’s my generation because when I see a youngster with them j’s on that think they are doing something I can tell them I had them j’s when you were in your mothers stomach
I agree to some points but I’m wearing what I want at 38 years old. If I look good in something, best believe it’s getting styled. I’m a Jordan collector so I’m not letting them go. My dad was 58 in sweats, J’s and a solid T to match. 🤷🏾♂️
That's wut it is anyways. Why would we stop a fashion trend we started? In fact, all the fresh sneakers from our era still reign supreme. Much respect giving props to your father.
It's not about the sneaker ,so much it's about your attitude and level of maturity. Are you still behaving the same way you did in highschool or have you become more mature and intelligent. It will show in your choices, Jordan are for a boy still living at home, broke and stupid.
Just discovered this channel and am binge watching it. I'm 48 but am just becoming aware of how I dress now. I've made considerable progress but have a long way to go. I recently went from wearing basketball shorts in public to cargo shorts, but I'm now going to move away from those too after watching this. The good thing is I always wear minimalist shoes, no bulky soles, zero-drop etc, and I love them.
I agree that some style of sneakers should only be worn by youngsters, but I don’t think retro Jordan’s fall into that category. As you did say some trends can be broken I’m a retro 13 guy and I think I wear them the right way in keeping it correct with the other tips (logos, jeans, color, etc.) So I’m retro for life, lol . But I appreciate the awareness.

Using the Jordans doesn't make me want to be younger. It makes me wear something that I accompanied during my teenage years. So I use a classic regardless of whether I'm 30, 40 or 50 years old.
I’m with him about 15% on this one. Grown men wearing other men’s names on their backs on sports jerseys has always been weird to me since I was young. I also always thought baggy or tight pants were goofy as well since I was young. I never wore those, so I don’t know what age has to do with it. But to be honest, a lot of what he’s talking about here kind of comes off as insecurity and low esteem. No diss, but as a grown man, nobody is going to tell me how to dress. If you’re not attracted to the way I dress, move on. I’m not in need of attention or petty women who still judge a man by clothe over character.. I dress in everything from sweats, J’s and Timbs, to suits if the occasion calls for it. Not because it makes me look my age, but because I WANT to. Lol.

Honestly I feel like most of the points in this that I do agree with, also apply to me at 32, and to guys in their 20s. Oversized logos are trash no matter how old you are. On the other hand, sneakers and distressed jeans should look as good at 45 as they do at 25 if you are styling them correctly. Basically I think Jeff is making the mistake of assuming that over the top, brand obsessive hypebeast fashion is even appropriate for younger guys; it's not appropriate for anyone at any age, it always looks trash. Stylish menswear on the other hand, whether casual or smart, is timeless and not age restricted.

I've never owned Jordan's but I can appreciate their aesthetic. I'm older so I wouldn't buy a pair now to wear but I think they can still work for men 40 plus if the rest of the 'fit' is good (tailored jeans, hoodie, fitted cap) That look has become timeless. What really help's 'sell' the look at a more 'advanced' age is staying relatively fit so exercise and diet are important. Really trendy sneakers are usually not a good look on anyone past age 20, more simple or streamlined sneakers are the way to go.

Strangely, some years ago I had gotten approached about doing a podcast for brothers of a certain age regarding their clothes. I didn't have time to do it but I really appreciate what you said in this video. Spot on. I'm in LA, in the entertainment world and I've seen male colleagues age and try to hold on clumsily. I usually follow a few actors my age for different looks; particularly, Jeff Goldbug, Sting, George Clooney. Ages like wine. But you are 100% correct about shoes. I did the over the top designer shoes then fell back to J's and low top Gucci. With the current trend of sneakers and suits, your sneaker choices don't have to be over the top. For example, I have no use for a high top sneaker. I just don't. Love the vid. Keep it up!
ayyee OG! I’d love a video on what younger guys SHOULD be wearing! 🙏🏾
Check my archives!
I feel like everyone should have a switch up game....
I wear my Jordan’s and Air Max with Nike and Jordan outfits and I’m still getting the young woman in their 20’s on me brother! I wear my designer like Louis Vuitton when I go out and my suits
Great Video content OG! I have to disagree with the Air Jordan's 1. Jordan 1's are not as juvenile as you might think if you have the appearance and presentation to pull it off. I am in my 40s and I must say I feel comfy in them and feel confident. This is affirmed by the compliments I receive. I don't have the trendiest of them but More like the earth color ones. The rest of your advice is bullseye 🎯 !
Agree!! 1's are the most classic pair that Jordan made!! That's like saying don't wear converse

I even go with the Jordan 4's Bred colorway black nubuck and red bottom and gray trimming. This one is as trendy as I'll go this is my most compliment getter.
Prove it and post y'all pics!

Ok Harris really? Why you doubt this man? I love your unbelieving perspective. Stay with me ok? Don't go anywhere. Are we on the same page? Talk to me now.
Same here, just second guess myself on them sometimes
Man...Give your little brother his suit back!
As history has shown us, OG Jordan’s don’t go out of style or down in value
Great Content I agree with most things you presented some things I believe you have to be true to yourself. I will keep up with future posts
Man i just bought some Jordan 1 breds. I've never worn them...I gotta break this rule O.G.😂
Break it. I do !
@@TheStyleOG SALUTE!!!
Most of these "trendy" sneakers came out in my day, they're my age so I deserve to rock 'm and when I see a 50 year old dude rocking o.g. Jordans with cargo shorts and a stylish fitted shirt on top I'm always like "Well played, my dude."
It's not so much what you wear but where you are wearing it.
As a sneaker head, I always keep a pair of 1s in rotation. I get what ur saying my brother about the trendy shoes. Some of them do look over the top
Indeed Brent !
Nothing wrong with the 1's, it's all how you rock 'em, you can still pull it off no matter what age as long as you dress neat with them
No way I ll stop rocking air max 90s 😂and I'm 42
He has some great suggestions on dressing appropriately. I definitely believe in buying quality pieces at least once a month.
old guys should have the wisdom to discern when and where. "never" sounds so so 'ultimatumy' lol
should also be wise enough to not get hung up on semantics..
@@TheStyleOG lol
Not going to stop buying my retros or polo/tommy cargos, but I can agree with you on practically everything else. Peace and blessings men! 💯❤️💯
People dress how you like at any age thats why the world is like its is
And og doesnt mean a older guy it means a older gangster ✊✌️
I've never owned Jordan's but I can appreciate their aesthetic. I'm older so I wouldn't buy a pair now to wear but I think they can still work for men 40 plus if the rest of the 'fit' is good (tailored jeans, hoodie, fitted cap) That look has become timeless. What really help's 'sell' the look at a more 'advanced' age is staying relatively fit so exercise and diet are important. Really trendy sneakers are usually not a good look on anyone past age 20, more simple or streamlined sneakers are the way to go.
He can miss me with this😂 You can grown man swag your retros, I get compliments daily from all races of women and I'm 43. You have to have an eye for what is trendy and know how to make your outfit pop while simultaneously staying in your appropriate age group. If I wear retro jordans,( 1s in particular) I get a nice fitted casual shirt with a splash of whatever colorway my shoes are, nice pair of jeans and a fresh watch and chain
Not giving up Jordan’s and I have seen men in their 50’s still rock them
I'm one of them. I'm in my 50s, and i wear sneakers, not Jordans yet, but will. I rock AF1s , and moving up to Jordan 3 and 4s.
Yes and they look juvenile and ridiculous AF 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great points Sir !!! Appreciate you !!!
My pleasure!
