1:55 It's not Serfdom, it's Sharecropping. Sharecropping was a system where the landlord allowed you to live on his land, and work it, in exchange for a share of your crop each harvest. However the share stayed the same, regardless of if you had a bad year, so often sharecroppers just fell further and further into debt to their landlords until they were effectively slaves. Serfdom was a system where the peasant farm workers literally WERE property attached to the land itself, so they legally could not leave, and if the land was sold to a new owner, that person would gain effective ownership of the serfs living on it also. Similar, but not quite the same.
--- Another similar'ish thing were "tenant farmers" with each country having different approaches: E.G. in FInland the " torpare/torpparit" and in Sweden the "statare" had to participate in "dagsverke / taksvärkki (/day's work)" in addition or as the the replacement to a cash rent. ---
Mukbangs are only unhealthy because people tend to overeat in them so that it can fill the full length of a broadcast. What you should do is turn it into a full blown cooking stream. If you want to take it slow and pace yourself, I recommend something where you have to cook the food yourself like a hot pot or Korean BBQ
Just taste testing can be interesting too. There are people who receive packages from other countries that contain goodies. They then taste test the stuff on camera, giving their thoughts. Usually, they only take a small amount of each.
Do you think it would still be a mukbang if it also involved the preparation process in addition to eating it? I'd imagine you could fill the time without having to eat excessive amounts that way. There's also the question of whether there would be the same kind of demand that way.
Fun fact: the "board" part of "room and board" actually refers to food, meaning someone won't have to pay for their lodging or food. And it's normally *part* of someone's wages, not the whole damn thing.
As well as the rent in the area for the horse one, I would also consider whether the person taking the job would be allowed to ride the horses, before calling them a CB. That would definitely save some horse lovers quite a bit of money.
If the riding was included and utilities were included (not mentioned), it'd be a total steal. I can't find a barn for less than 700$/month to ride here, and my rent and utilities are in the realm of 700. If I could pay 1300 and have both I'd do it!
Given how expensive that area is, and how expensive Phoenix is in general even in the not-so-nice areas, yeah, it sounds pretty good. And if you can stable your own horse there? That's like a major bargain. I know people paying more than that in the super sketchy areas of town. Scottsdale is where the swank is.
This is part if what I was thinking. 50hrs a month isn't that much work to have your rent covered, I think I pay more for my rent right now in a cheaper area!
@@10Raccoon Right? And its not slave wage. $20 an hour. Its not GREAT but that is not unfair really. My biggest concern is housing and job being tied together like that. Also of concern is how sound isolated the studio really is, its size, and if the family can mind boundaries. There is no guarantee we will bond on a personal level but working professionally should not be affected by that. Other than that 12-13 hours of work per week ain't bad. You could probably work another part time job a couple days a week to make some actual spending money. And as the earlier comments said some animal lovers would take it just for the savings opportunity.
Imagine having to pay for those horses to be taken care of. It would be far more than $3,000 a month for two horses especially when you add in house sitting. There's no way that this is a good deal.
@@limiv5272 I get that. My Mom use to always tell me the hard part isn't losing the weight. It's keeping it off. So when I decided I wanted to lose weight I made sure to have a plan to maintain my weight loss without depriving myself so much that I'd end up gaining it back. I also decided to do therapy as I was working on my weight loss. I figured whatever issue/issues that caused me to become fat would still be there after I lost weight and I didn't want to do all that work for nothing. I ended up losing 80 lbs in 6 months and my weight now fluctuates between 5-10lbs. So I'm content. I just wanted to give Dabney props because it isn't easy to do and I wanted to let him know that I'm proud of him.
That first post sounds like a really good deal actually. 12.5 hours per week of work to have my rent paid? Still plenty of time to have a full time job if needed and get to be around a bunch of cool animals while not having to be in an office? Sounds awesome lol.
Agreed! Farm work is heavy but when it's so few hours per week and you get free rent, that's a dream deal (and sure it's heavy but farm work can be really fun too). I worked more than that at my local riding school as a teen while being a full-time student, only to get two riding lessons a week in exchange...
I'd it's only those hours per week then agreed but it depends on what he meant by trading labor for rent. If he simply meant working really hard during those hours then he's not a CB but if he meant extra hours then he may be, depending on the amount of hours extra are required for all the rent to be paid.
It's more than 50 hours a month of work... depending on the number of critters. If (big IF) they've put down mats in the stalls and each horse has a run out, and you pick the stalls at least weekly, it's about 30 minutes. If not, it's about an hour a stall. I used to do this work (no mats).
So, serfdom worked different, what you meant was "Peonage". A peon owes money to the person they work for, rendering them unable to quit. They are also charged for whatever they need to survive, which often resulted in peonage contracts extending much farther than originally negotiated. Serfdom is a system where the laborer owns nothing except what belongings they can carry, and are attached to the land they work on. Think of it kind of like slavery, only they are enslaved to a piece of land, not a person. You cannot sell a serf unless you also sell the land they work on. This system was very popular in feudal Europe, because they used an agrarian form of production. With centralization, the system switched to wage labor. "Wage slavery" isn't really a system of economics, and more a derogatory term coined in the 19th century to describe to abyssmal working conditions in factories at the beginning of the industrial revolution, before labor reforms changed the wage system to be more worker-friendly.
Wage slavery describes the condition of being stuck in a cycle of subsistence wage jobs, where you have to spend all of your money on basic living expenses with little chance of escape, eg if you don't have a marketable skill and have to accept low paying jobs. It functions similarly to serfdom, instead of working land for a lord and living on his land, you work for the company, pay a landlord to live off-site and subside on what is left over, it becomes closer to serfdom when you work for your landlord- arguably this situation is even more precarious under this arrangement because you lose everything if you lose your job and you can be put off the land you live on far easier. The only real benefit to the arrangement over serfdom or slavery is that you get more choice in who exploits your labour. The reality is that even in the US many aren't even able to afford rent and many more barely manage due to exploitative business practices, it may not be factories now, it may be retail work, food service, many driving jobs and many other sectors. But it is still a massive problem with our current system.
A few decades ago, a 60 Minute expose was aired on the illegal labor practices against migrant workers in the orange grower industry. The farmer would provide (extremely) substandard housing for migrant workers and charge them exorbitant fees at the company store for food and necessities, where the laborers ended up owing the farmer money. They were forced to use the company store as their wages were only credited there with whatever was leftover was paid to the worker at the end of the season. The farmers made sure there was negative balances. The Federal Government got involved.
Last story: When someone starts acting like a bridezilla, you know that the marriage isn't going to last. Too bad the husband learned that lesson late.
So accurate on my daughter's first wedding. She was a horrific bridezilla and it didn't last a year. She was calm and rational at her second wedding and has been married 5 years now. Bizarre.
@@akl2k7 I wonder if maybe these Bridezillas whose marriages don't last unconsciously know this isn't a good match, are struggling to keep going through with it, and the result, in a Type A personality, is Bridezilla behavior.
My cousin actually cancelled his bridezilla wedding at the last possible moment. He said “No” when they had to say their vows. The reaction of the bridezilla : starts shouting , screaming and insulting him. No tears, no sadness. She then screamed “I’m going to divorce you and get all your money” He just calmly said “Well, seems I dodged a bullet there. “ Five days later, he married his best friend. That was 10 years ago. They are still married.
Thanks for the warning. I really can't stand southern accents. Its the same reason I can't stand county music. And I should clarify that I'm also from the south but I don't act like it.
@@CSKaras you're both right. Some harvestmoon games have country song like background music is certain areas. And the post did really make me want to play farming type games 😁👍
When will people like this understand that " exposure" isn't a suitable pay for product. You cant just ask a person for thousands of dollars worth of art, and just expect not to pay them for it. These people have bills and expenses. They don't need you to promote them to your followers.
It astounds me when people try to reflavor actually jobs, like live in nanny/care giver, pet/house sitter and the like as "we are so generous in letting you PAY US for the opportunity to do a job that normally pays $100+ daily for free."
As someone that works in Agriculture, and specifically with horses in recent years, both of the first stories are NOT choosing beggars. It's even better if they allow you to bring your horse. This is the reality for most of us working in Ag. I've considered jobs where I got paid next to nothing and would be living in a trailer, but it was worth it to me. I'm currently working 18 hours a month at my barn so that I only have to PAY THEM $400 to house both of my horses. It would be $700 without me working a portion of it off.
I think you misunderstand what a Mukbang is. Its just an "eating show", you don't have to eat junk food or excessive amounts. Eating a single serving of salad on camera is STILL a Mukbang. The whole purpose of them originally was for people alone in Korea to feel like they had company when eating. You would watch a Mukbang as you eat. It was more about the feeling of company and enjoying the presenters personality. The gross practice of eating huge amounts of unhealthy food and putting yourself in an early grave is a rather nasty "type" of Mukbang, but its not what defines it.
Yeah, there's one dude on social media, who's name I can't remember (I think it's a good pun or something) that I can't help but picture when I hear the word "mukbang". People like him have more or less tainted the public perception of Mukbangs in the west IMO.
@@krystalfloods6197 Yeah, that's the one, and I agree. I believe in body positivity and everything, but there's a limit, and that man is a few hundred pounds over it.
@@MoostachedSaiyanPrince Yup just look at actual Korean Mukbangers, even the ones who DO eat large amounts, are slim and have engaging personalities. They don't eat loads daily and do nothing about it. The eat loads skip at least 2 days before doing another and probably hit the gym in the mean time. But the majority of people who do Mukbang though, just eat a normal meal whilst talking and being likable. Not destroying themselves, eating like a baby who smears their food and having emotional breakdowns on camera like Nikocado Avocado (the guy you're probably meaning). He is vile and heading to an early grave. Sure, he's rich, but he's gonna die young. His fans are just as repulsive as him for supporting such a self destructive life, especially when he's so clearly in a bad mental place. Can you believe his pun name was because he used to be a fairly slim VEGAN who ate a lot of avocados?
At minimum wage, one would have to work 52 hours/week to afford average rent. That's just rent, not food, utilities, transportation, etc. Meanwhile, we live in a society where people are lazy if they don't want to work 80 hours/week and people are entitled if they want paid more than $7.25/hour. To further put this in perspective, at the "high" wage of $14.50/hr, 26 of your 40 hours is still going towards housing costs only.
Yelm (story #1) is a town in Washington State. As of January 1, 2022, minimum wage for people 16yrs+ is $14.49/hr STATEWIDE, though it can vary from area to area - but it can't "vary" to be less than that. (Seattle min wage is $17.27/hr.) Also as of Jan 1, 2022, agricultural farm workers will, for THE FIRST TIME EVER, be eligible to earn overtime: 55hrs+ (2022) = overtime, which will be reduced in 2023 to 48hrs+ and to 40hrs+ in 2024. Presumably this incremental hour/wage timeline is to handle the transition from farmhands living at the farm being "on call" 24/7 to the more reasonable number of work week hours and pay.
@@lux.illuminaughty The state I live in has no minimum wage law, thus is subject to the federal minimum wage. Here in my rural area, the average yearly income is around $30k. And average rent is $1200-$1500/month for a one bedroom.
It’s really not that bad, if you take the job you get a guaranteed place to live with no credit needed, you get 50 hours a month for 1000 dollars which is 20$/hr and 50 hours is only like 12 hours a week which can be knocked out in 2 days meaning you can have another part time job if you want. It’s a good deal, I’d take it
I ran a 30-room motel for a while. I lived there for free, got paid 15 bucks an hour on top of that, and I had 3 employees, 2 of whom were full-time. This dude is trying to have a slave.
Right? Like if I was a streamer my idea of a Mukbang would be cooking the food from scratch, traditional Scottish food so folk could see what our food is like (like haggis, neeps and tatties, or stovies), chatting and chilling whilst cooking, then sitting down with the meal to eat like a normal person, without the shock value. That’s what I prefer watching as it’s more comforting, y’know?
yea, originally it was a way for those who were away from home/family or who had no one to eat with to share a meal with someone and not be alone. it only got crazy b/c like another poster said ppl would continue eating in order to extend the stream and make it longer. several of the popular mukbang streamer girls developed eating disorders in order to eat unhealthy amounts but still visually appeal to their fans in the way they wanted.
On the first story…did they say 50 hours a month? That’s part-time work. Might be ideal depending on the tasks to be performed and freedom to work another job for extra money is present. If the place is rural enough, providing a place to live as part of the deal is not always bad.
yeah, I didn't think it sounded that bad. not for me and if its labour intensive it 'pays' a little low, as $1000/50hrs = $20p/h before rent is taken out, but if you also had a part time job nearby it might be worth it, particularly if you can set your hours.
@@SenileAlbatross I know some people that would jump at an opportunity like that assuming it is not in the middle of nowhere. particularly in the current housing market. there is a family 2 blocks away living in a tent in a friends front yard because they can't get a house. not because they can't afford one, just that people are offering quite a bit ABOVE asked rent.
I love the "item for exposure" people. We make beautiful fine wood items, and we've had people ask for free products in exchange for a "magazine review", which is something we might consider some day.. But when we ask the name of the magazine, it's either non-existent or something like "Better Homes and Gazebos" or "Gonculators Quarterly" - which have nothing to do with our industry. So we decline, and encourage the "reviewer" to simply PURCHASE one of our items so they know they're getting a random sample and not something we've done anything extra on to have it be "perfect" for some guy to review. It's amazing how little shame and self-awareness people have these days!
To be fair, the first job paid 20$ an hour, and required 50 hours a month work, so around 12 hours a week. I wouldn’t take the job, and yeah it does require you to live on a farm, but its one of the less choosing beggary stories told here.
Agreed, the deal is more than fair. Especially for unskilled labor. It leaves plenty of time to pick up either another part-time job or even full-time.
I live in AZ and Scottsdale true Scottsdale (city lines where moved and some of Scottsdale became paradise Valley) has multi-million dollar homes. A house large enough for horses still being farm/agriculture label would be insane rentals, so a 1300 rent I reasonable
Metrocenter area Phoenician here chiming in to say "RIGHT?!?" Plus getting to interact with horses, and have time for other stuff/work? Lets gooooooooo!
That first story breaks down to about $20/hr of work paid in waived rent, assuming the work is ACTUALLY 50hr/ month. Depending on where this startup farm is located, and how easy it’d be to get a second job (wfh preferred for no commute), that rate is on the high end of shitty and/or the low end of acceptable. It’s still serfdom and it’s still bullshit, but there’s been a LOT worse on this subreddit
You should read this on the next choosingbeggars "The job posting for an assistant adjunct professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, A Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry, a strong teaching record at the college level, and three to five letters of recommendation, $0 salary"
The first one isn't as bad as it sounds. Depending on where it is, $750/month for rent isn't unreasonable. And a wage of $1000/month for 50 hours/month is $20/hr. The fact that it's only part time 50 hrs/month likely means you'll need to get another job, but individually, the numbers are pretty decent.
I live in a outskirt of a fairly big city in a heavily farming oriented country. Most farms here are 15-20 min away from a city. And 50h a month amounts to about 2h of work everyday 6 days a week. Thats probably feeding animals and cleaning up their pens every morning and whatnot. That means you get, for that money, a house to live in and a petrol money to get to another part time job in the town/city. Considering the fact that where I live rent for studio apartment is about 1200-1500 euro if someone would give me that offer I would be more than glad to accept it and knowing life, because its a farm you would get stuff like fresh milk and egg as a unspoken bonus if you would be on a good term with that family.
2nd story: Scottsdale is in the city... what many (most) of us consider the "snooty" part of the city. Everything is more expensive there. $1,300 might actually be pretty comparable (but still outrageous)
History major here. Umm, Serf is a system in which landlord "lease" land to serf in order to cultivate the land. This "Leasing" can require payment, usually a raw product such as grain or dairy, but can also be labor like building structure and, in rarer case, a military service. This mean that serf can, theoretically, make money on their own if landlord is generous with "payment" but it usually isn't simply because merchant guild and royalty screw around the price even more than landlord do. Mind you, I learn this 2 years ago and a lot of details might escape my mind so if I'm wrong, sorry in advance. Another thing, I'm not native English speaker... so...
When it comes to ketchup. I don't care what brand it is it all tastes the same to me. Now if it's without salt, I can taste the difference And 150 for a mattress is a steal. My grandma bought me a mattress for my birthday and she's still paying it off.

So many TH-camrs make a second channel and it really is just the same type of content. Scotsdale is more developed than you'd think, and in fact one area stretches well into Phoenix. It's not as "country" as it used to be, but there's tons of agriculture still in the valley.
The first one, the wages offered are $1000 a month, which for 50 hours a month (NOT a week) works out at $20 per hour. Now, I am UK-based so don't know for sure what is a good wage in the US - but I'm pretty sure that's a fair bit more than minimum wage. How competitive it is in terms of farm labour, I don't know... and I also don't know how much rental property prices are, so if the employee lived in, I don't know whether $750 p.m. is a good price for rent... but 12.5 hours a week would potentially allow for a second part-time job to provide additional income. Not saying it's a great deal, but it is certainly not the worst I've seen...
My mom worked at Kraft back before I was born, she was asked to taste test stuff sometimes. To this day, she can barely stand the taste of ganache because she had to taste test so much of it
On the first story - i think thats a fair deal. they asking for help for about 50 hours a month - that aint many hours a month to do for a free place to live. You could easily do a part time job saving that much on rent
Some of these posts were actually pretty reasonable. Just because it doesn't work for everyone doesn't make it a bad thing. (I will admit sometimes they are very unreasonable and sketchy though)
Yep, indentured servitude is what my mothers grandfather landlord called it. He didn't get a say in it though. It was part of the reason that her father fought for the free state. Slavery is slavery.
Ay yo Dabne, congrats on the weight loss! Remember to not lose heart whenever you slip up, this is one of the things any fitness coach would drill into you first thing. Keep up the good fight. And I always appreciate the effort you put into the voice acting! I'm listening to this while doing overtime work at 2 AM and that full frontal Southern twang in the beginning cheered my day a bit.
It always baffles me when people think it's an opportunity for you to pay to care for horses. There was a stable near my home that I wanted to volunteer at, and they wanted me to pay a fee to muck stalls and feed the horses... Umm... I'm willing to do that for free as a volunteer because I love horses... But I'm not paying you to do your chores for you.
re: 1st story Technically, that's more a sharecropper than a serf. Serfs are hereditary, but you can be bonded to the land through poverty and subsistence wages as a sharecropper
i binge watch rslash all the time. today was no different. but NOTHING could've prepared me for dabne's southern accent while i was trying to drink tea, which sent the tea all over my desk.
Scottsdale, AZ is very expensive - it's one of the "fancier parts" of the greater Phoenix area. Even the old, borderline rundown parts of the city are priced WAY above nicer houses in other parts of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. Depending on how large/nice the apartment is, $1300 per month could be very reduced rent.
I mean my work for home situation was I worked for my uncle cleaning his barn and feeding his horses, I got to sleep in the loft for "free" but I also worked for "free". I thought it was a decent deal, saved me $750 a month and only took 5 hours or so a week.
First story "Part time 50 hours a month" Isn't actually THAT bad compared to some of the things I have seen on these. Assuming that's not a typo and you get 1k a month then you get paid 250$ and a place to stay place for 50 hours of work a month,. So 20$ an hour overall. Pretty decent deal and plenty of time to get another job to actually earn with. But that's if you get 1000$ for it and its only 50 hours a month
I worked at an energy drink manufacturer and part of my job was tasting the products to make sure they tasted correct. Every thirty minutes. The novelty wears off.
Phoenician/Arizonan here! The Phoenix Metro area is STUPID unaffordable compared to what people make. Scottsdale is the "rich/nice" part of town, in general, along with Fountain Hills. I live on the west side and rent over here is about $1300 for some of the gunshots-or-fireworks areas. To live in the nice area, AND get to work with horses? Yeah, that's actually not that bad. Love your channel, btw! Start every day with it to get me going! :)
For the farm work. You only work 50 hours a month. And the average work week is 40 hours. So you can get a second/easier part time job if you wanted easily. And spread out your farm work. I may he nieve but I think that's a decent deal. Rent is a bit high. But they also said you trade your work for rent.
I've worked a hotel job before.... so that one, they expect ONE PERSON to be the Front Desk Clerk, Laundry Person, Maid, Security Guard, Life Guard, Maintanance Person, Night Auditor, and Manager???? And also to have no Cell Phone and to Starve to Death. Cool...
In the first post, what OP is offering (living space/food in exchange for physical labor) is called share-cropping. It is literally what former slave owners did after slavery was abolished. All the newly freed African Americans didn’t have any money or homes, so plantation owners “hired” them to work in exchange for shelter and a pitiful amount of money.
Just remember Dabney. It took years to put on it won't come off overnight. But slow weight loss tends to stay off. Do a raw veg mucbang lol. 3 pounds of baby carrots 🥕4 of celery 🥬etc. Lol. I've never seen that and the chewing noise would be ASMR to the 1000 degree!😉🤣
Why does the final story remind me almost of my almost wedding. My now ex fiance's twin's boyfriend offered to take photos of our wedding for free. My now ex told me to not use his services because he didn't want to feel cheap. Nevermind that I was paying for almost all wedding expenses. He later broke up with me because I refuse to get on birth control because there is a history of breast cancer in my family, and I don't think the hormonal chaos would be good for my body.
The houses that slaves lived in usually contain, at least for the rich, many families of slaves and were quite crowded. It's because they weren't worth more than a jam packed area to the owners.
My husband is a former neighbour of those Scottsdilly-dallians and he literally paused the video to inform me that that’s actually a pretty low price for rent in the area. Personally (as a Canadian) I’m with you on this one, that just boggles my mind 😵💫

As an Arizonan, Scottsdale is called "Snotsdale" by a ton of locals. It's filled with mostly Snowbirds who have a ton of extra money, so everything is massively more expensive there (But their Godwills are stocked with great finds lol). So while $1300 is not a bad rent, I still wouldn't say its worth it when you're staying in what amounts to a stable house and taking care of horses as well. You can find a studio in Scottsdale for the same price, without the extra work - or a two bedroom apartment within a 10 min drive of Scottsdale.
Honestly, that first one doesn’t seem half bad. As an agricultural student who can’t pay for jack in this economy I’d potentially (hypothetically) take them up on it.
ye id take it if i was homeless or something u get sumwhere to live for 50h work/month which is only like 2,5 hours/day excluding weekend or 1,8h including weekend its not much i wouldnt call it slavery if u knew which times u had to work and when u had time off u could get a second job as well and earn more money on the side while u dont have to worry abt rent when i think abt it more it dont sound bad at all lol if u liked animals and stuff itd be a good deal
---
Another similar'ish thing were "tenant farmers" with each country having different approaches:
E.G. in FInland the " torpare/torpparit" and in Sweden the "statare" had to participate in "dagsverke / taksvärkki (/day's work)" in addition or as the the replacement to a cash rent.

Or even a snack stream where Dabney makes many small foods
Or if it needs to be a video, eat it throughout the day or something and edit it down to video-size
Pretty sure there is a guy who does mukbangs that’s still healthy since they base their diet around knowing they eat excessive amounts on some days
Fun fact: the "board" part of "room and board" actually refers to food, meaning someone won't have to pay for their lodging or food. And it's normally *part* of someone's wages, not the whole damn thing.
It is part of their wages. 75% of it. For 50 hours a month. That's a great deal.
I think he definitely read it as 50 hours a week because I don’t think it’s too bad
Oooooh! That makes a lot more sense

Absolutely LOVED the wedding story. That she was divorced within a year is just the cherry on top.
The guy probably couldn’t take his entitled and whinny wife lol. It's funny that he took AP's art with him.
The husband dodged a bullet. The wife caught two bullets from her hubby and friend. Neither wanted to spend their lives with a spoiled brat. 😆🤣
He probably watched this rslash video, and got out of that marriage as soon as he could.
I imagine she thought marriage would "trap" hubby with her and force loyalty when he was already cheating on her
I hope Rslash covers more bridezilla threads.
Congrats on the weight loss! That isn't an easy amount to lose.
Especially when your job involves sitting down a lot of the time
Unfortunately that's not the hard part, the real issue is holding on to your weight once you reach your goal. So frustrating

That first post sounds like a really good deal actually. 12.5 hours per week of work to have my rent paid? Still plenty of time to have a full time job if needed and get to be around a bunch of cool animals while not having to be in an office? Sounds awesome lol.
I couldn't agree more! How the hell is that a choosing beggar story?
/Rslash occasionally goofs a story. I guess this is one of those times.
Im with you on this one!
Thanks for clarifying 👍
Your description of peonage sounds an awful lot like sharecropping
I love when the comment section is educational. Thank you for this brilliant response!

Yeah, it's just insane to think that people like this think that others would even consider wanting to pay them to work for them.
"No need to be disrespectful but..."
Why does something extremely disrespectful always follow that saying?
As someone that works in Agriculture, and specifically with horses in recent years, both of the first stories are NOT choosing beggars. It's even better if they allow you to bring your horse. This is the reality for most of us working in Ag. I've considered jobs where I got paid next to nothing and would be living in a trailer, but it was worth it to me. I'm currently working 18 hours a month at my barn so that I only have to PAY THEM $400 to house both of my horses. It would be $700 without me working a portion of it off.
Agreed! These are anything but choosing beggar stories.

They don't eat loads daily and do nothing about it. The eat loads skip at least 2 days before doing another and probably hit the gym in the mean time. But the majority of people who do Mukbang though, just eat a normal meal whilst talking and being likable.

Nevermind that that "high" wage of $14.50/hour is still below the federal poverty line....
Our economy is sorely f***ed up.
Yelm (story #1) is a town in Washington State. As of January 1, 2022, minimum wage for people 16yrs+ is $14.49/hr STATEWIDE, though it can vary from area to area - but it can't "vary" to be less than that. (Seattle min wage is $17.27/hr.)
Also as of Jan 1, 2022, agricultural farm workers will, for THE FIRST TIME EVER, be eligible to earn overtime: 55hrs+ (2022) = overtime, which will be reduced in 2023 to 48hrs+ and to 40hrs+ in 2024.
It’s a good deal, I’d take it
Love that last story, quite hilarious she is so blind to her own short comings that she completely ruins her own life
I ran a 30-room motel for a while. I lived there for free, got paid 15 bucks an hour on top of that, and I had 3 employees, 2 of whom were full-time. This dude is trying to have a slave.
you don't have to overeat for a mukbang! it's just supposed to be someone eating because it's comforting, I guess it turned into shock value
I thought it sounded reasonable as well. Lots of time for a regular job on top of things.
Same, I think he either misread or misspoke. That's a damn good deal. 50 hours a month for full rent? That's like a day and a half a week.
I could never do that. I like working with animals but I don't think farm work is for me
I love the "item for exposure" people.

Agreed, the deal is more than fair. Especially for unskilled labor. It leaves plenty of time to pick up either another part-time job or even full-time.

$1,300 might actually be pretty comparable (but still outrageous)
the literal audacity of the bride in the last story..harrass your friend for free art and then post divorce still be a CB!!

"Part time 50 hours a month" Isn't actually THAT bad compared to some of the things I have seen on these.
I had the same thought.
Im from Pittsburgh, but if you have to ask someone else for ketchup, you take what they give you
Lol ngl the hotel one, my first thought was how haunted is this hotel? Flashbacks to The Shining were just playing in my head lol
My brother in law is 26 and never heard no been in rehab 7 times live in a sober living that medical insurance has been paying for 2 years.
The first post is literally modern day sharecropping…
Honestly, the first one wouldn't be so bad, if they didn't charge them 75% of their monthly wages
In China, if it rained on your wedding, it meant that you were stingy lol
Why does the final story remind me almost of my almost wedding. My now ex fiance's twin's boyfriend offered to take photos of our wedding for free. My now ex told me to not use his services because he didn't want to feel cheap. Nevermind that I was paying for almost all wedding expenses. He later broke up with me because I refuse to get on birth control because there is a history of breast cancer in my family, and I don't think the hormonal chaos would be good for my body.
The crazy in the last story almost made my head explode. Wow. That was so far beyond entitled that my brain cannot compute that.
7:43 that sounds like a perfect job opportunity... if you're a alcoholic failed writer, who'll go insane by the spirits haunting the place and chase your wife and psychic son with a axe. Otherwise no thanks
The First job is a deal. and not all of Arizona is based off snotsdale.
Man the karma that hit that Bridezilla in the last story went full scorched earth.
