@@akkinana but already scrappage policy is saying 20 yrs maximum for private petrol cars & 10-15 yrs for private diesel cars (as per data from TH-cam videos). Plz correct me if I am wrong.
Frankly speaking, if I am maintaining my personal car really well with timely oil change, spark plug renewal etc, nothing can go wrong with the car.
Plus, my car is 13 yrs old, & have driven only 40k km till date.
So scrapping this car & buying a new car forcefully is definitely a financial burden on me!!
Don't know if it is only pollution issue or there is understanding between govt & car companies to increase their sales???

I usually don't comment on any videos. But here is my thought on scrapping policy.
I'm not happy with the way govt is planing it. Seems like people are being forced to scrap their beloved car having good emotional attachment.
Scrapping should be made optional not mandate. Instead it would be great if govt increase green tax and implement strict fitness test for every 1-2 years.
Govt should give attractive discount on the ex showroom price and taxes so that it will attract people to scrap their car.
If people would like to use their old cars they can still use it but they need to pay the higher green tax and make sure it passes the strict emission tests.
Also in high pollution cities Govt can plan to allow to run old cars on certain days. Put hefty fine if people break the law. In that case people can still use their beloved car having thousands of good memories and emotional attachment.
This is just my thought. I'm writing this comment because I love my 1.5 TDCI engine car and there is no replacement for it in the current market!

1.VW and Skoda operating in india since more than a decade, if we go by numbers their sale has never dropped drastically year on year, infact after launch of 2.0 project their sales numbers are increasing.
2.their products target specific consumer and thei launch it at specific price point, they never had sales figures like maruti and Hyundai, they are managing with same sales count with controlled inventory planning since a decade
3.their sames numbers look less as they dont have product which comes at less that 10-12 lakhs (average price) where maruti and Hyundai is getting maximum sales
    4. segment whwre VW/Skoda is launching their vehicles is at par with competitors or in some segments they are doing better, for example, exclude the same of commercial cars (swift, dezire, ertiga, aura, xcent etc) compare matuti/hyundai cars of same price point: Slavia Virtus doing better than Ciaz, verna, City...superb,octavia had no direct competator etc
These news are spread by youtubers after CEO s interview where he said "we are over engineered" and after hearing a newd about JV with Mahindra, this JV or Stake selling is part of their upcoming business strategy for EVs and engines as a additional line of business (maruti uses engines which are manufactured by fiat, many of their engine parts are supplied by Ford)
VW has balancing their manufacturing/inventory in a proper was and selling thei cars in balanced approach, they are exploring options where they can go asset light and focus in their core operations
Chill and ignore such news, ford left because of their unbalanced investment,.VW looks sorted there

    • @OasisExplorer

VW/Skoda do not sell because their cars last 3 times longer than usual Maruti?Hyundai and there is no place for such cars in India, thanks to govt who forces people to scrap their cars within 10-15 years. I drive a 13 years old Polo and I don't find any replacement for that car in same size in the current market. Irony is that car still drives better than any new car available, no sign of rust, no sign of getting old. I perform just normal servicing at VW workshop. Very sweet car but the draconian govt may snatch it from me. If this happens, I will not buy any new car. And I wish all the corrupt Indian companies go bankrupt who convinced govt for the scrape policy to increase the sell of their low quality unsafe cars.

VW and Skoda not providing any discount. Even they discontinued 1.5L Signature variant, 1.5L available only in top model. Just drove Slavia with 1.5L DSG, ufff what a engine you will forget all other gimmick useless feature. I will buy only 1.5L otherwise don't buy car.(Not bias just once drive then make opinion )

The government should bring the policy that 15-year-old car (whatever the 2nd hand rate was) should be deducted from the new car, the person which is buying the new one only then I 💬 think the policy will work else forget about the scrappage policy.
If not, then the petition will be filed in court how long it will take time for decision.
    Only God knows.

Sad to hear this from a TH-camr like you supporting the scrappage policy of the government. Even I have a Maruthi’ 800 parked in my home and I am so sentimental to it that I don’t even allow anyone to drive it in my absence. Let’s see how far this scrappage policy can be implemented I doubt that one the bill in passed in both houses it shall be struck down as unconstitutional as it infringes the Article 300A of the Indian Constitution.

Why someone will scrap his lakhs of worth car for 20k Or 12k rupees which is nothing in return.. If his car is running fine.. This is wrong.. It's fooling people.. It should be consumers will if he wants to scrap or not.. Otherwise it's useless to buy reliable and costly cars and scrap after 10 or 15yrs.

Sir I booked two cars on the same day one is Renault Kiger RXL and other one is i10 Corporate edition... Kiger ex-showroom price 6.60 lakhs with 0% discount and i10 Corporate 6.93 lakhs and 40% flat discount in ex-showroom and I bargained again and again so I got 12999/- worth accessories free so I went for i10... The finance company or bank which provided me with a loan said that don't go for Renault it will be very hard to resale in future and their sales are also not good...

Scrap policy without annual health check up hi car industry ko le dubegi
20 se 25 lac ki creta heavily taxed car 10 saal chalegi means 20000 to 25000 rs monthly depreciation with 5000 rs heavily taxed fuel
Toll tax 2 rs per km
Monthly Insurance breakup 5000 rs maintenance another 1000 rs
5000 rs to 10000 rs monthly loan interest , tyre change every 2 to years 30000 rs
Total ownership cost around 40000 rs to 50000 rs per month 😂? 6 lacs per annum and ten year ownership cost 60 lacs😂..equal to zero
