I was in a band in 1976 in London we’d booked a studio in Southall to do our first proper recording I went out to get us lunch and heard this song blaring out from a record shop it was The Boys Are Back and I just wanted to give up it was amazing you couldn’t compete! I forgot lunch and went and dragged the guys to the shop Emerald is bloody amazing my favourite ever guitar duel at the end also Still In Love With You the version off Live and Dangerous so good it’s got me through nearly all my break ups since 1978! And we lived 2 mins from Hammersmith and went to every gig that week that became Live and Dangerous and the new RSD release such a great band. Phil lived in Kew Road about 5 mins walk from my parents house in Kew such a sad end to such a great talent but some guys just aren’t born to make old bones

My favorite album is the debut Thin Lizzy album. Despite the recordings not being as polished as the rest it has some awesome tracks, Diddy levine, honesty is no excuse, remembering 1 and 2. This album feels like a love experience/lesson from phil himself.

Agree. This album is probably 2nd place for me, as I just love th Black Rose album more. What is really great about their debut, is that it is really soulfull. You feel that every song on it happened in real life and Phill just telling you that

    • @jimmycampbell78

You’re absolutely clueless. If Lynott had been healthy and lived, John Sykes would have updated Thin Lizzy’s sound and made them highly relevant in the 1980s. They would have blown all the other Seventies dinosaurs away. All the plaudits Coverdale/Whitesnake got for the 1987 album co written by Sykes- all that would have gone to Lizzy.
Phil Lynott and Thin Lizzy would have at last got their dues with the Lynott/Johnny Sykes partnership.
      Tragically, not to be.
      “Mindless shredder”- pppffff.

What I love about Bad Reputation (besides the songs) is that Gorham is on 90% of the album. Robertson is only on two tracks, and at Gorham's insistence. Scott Gorham is criminally underrated.

I love almost all Thin Lizzy studio albums, my favorite overall is Chinatown actually! The only one I think is just pretty good is Vagabonds of the Western World (it just feels a bit weird to me, especially before Nightlife which is a favorite), and the only one I genuinely don’t like is Shades Of A Blue Orphanage. That ones kinda hard to sit through tbh
