Thank you for the idea of painting a cap with Raptor, your video was the first I had heard of doing this. I was able to pick up a cap relatively cheaply, just re-finished it this weekend! It came out great, can't wait to re-install it on my truck.
Great to see another Mainer with some quality content. If you ever want to do a co-lab and do a paddle for some moose antlers and trout let's rip it up!
I’m working on my truck camper, I’m also a Mainer. I’ve got my cap all insulated with reflectix as it is an aluminum cap and not a nice fiberglass one but it came with the 23 year old truck I bought. I’m getting my solar in tomorrow and I’ve got my “kitchen” and Bed all set, the floor is carpeted
@@trichome3266 because you can tint it to match the color of the truck. Line-x has to be painter after the spray. I also got the UV protection with the Line-x and it’s not even been a year and it’s fading pretty bad.
Great job! I never thought about the bed liner. I got a used cap really cheap. I was thinking off wrapping mine with carbon fiber vinyl wrap. But I think I could spray like yours better than wrap it. I think it would look cool to put a wind deflector on the front rack too
I just raptor lined mine and my bed. Basically did the same thing you did. I'm planning to add a roof rack, just haven't found the one I like yet. Mine's for hunting big game and camping. :D
Let us suggest a small solar panel to run a 12 V fan for ventilation, black camper shells are the best way to dry fruit they're so hot inside is unreal , soda stuff like that will actually explode inside there.
I used Raptor liner on my truck worked great , I only wish I would have taken more care to cover other things in the garage . It made a huge mess spraying at a higher pressure. Your rig looks AWESOME!!! I can't wait to see end result.
I have an ARE Overland series bed cap on my Tacoma (it has a largely decorative section of spray on bedliner on the leading edge and under the side windows)... It's a shame yours did not come with the windoors... They are great for mounting bed storage cabinets behind. I am presently working on designing a windoor cabinet to hold a camp kitchen on the passenger side.
Do you think the fact that it states quite boldly Rod Case that it might be to much temptation for a thief as apposed to them not knowing whats inside ?
I wonder how this process would work on a commercial aluminum cab like the ARE DCU, any idea? This is one of, if not the best video I've seen regarding adding and modding a cap/topper.
Thanks man. I think it would work just fine, you just need to prep it. Sand/scuff it up a bit. And maybe prime it? They might have a primer for bare metal? Check it out.
I see you put this video up a year ago. How is the liner holding up on your shell? I’m a surfer in California looking to do some surf camping inside my camper shell.
Have you taken it through the car wash? Hoping people don’t judge me too harshly for asking. Thinking of doing this to a truck bed cap on a work truck but take the truck through an auto car cash frequently
Truck cap turned out great! Was thinking of doing this to mine but I’ve heard mixed reviews on how well it lasts. Just wondering how well it’s held up since you finished it? Any weathering or fading?
How did you seal the bed storage boxes on the sides of the tacoma bed. When mine are open I can see holes and daylight down to the road, and these leak like crazy when its raining.
@@mainetroutwhisperer Trying to get the right seal for the bed side/front rails. Just ordered the same tailgate seal, ill try these two ESI seals for the front/side.
I found one exact match to my truck color mint condition ARE ,these are getting hard to come by rn. I think the only reason mine was available is because it was listed at 999,999$.
@@mainetroutwhisperer Good shit brotha, Im watching your jerky vid rn. Similar recipe I use. Cant wait to see your build. Also did the same. New sub. Good shit.

Nice craftsmanship on the paint job. Ya took the extra time and did the small things !!! Nice job !!
Ive been planning doing this exact project. It was nice to see how that raptor layed down . Thanks for going first ! Looks good .
Painted my canopy after watching this, just posted the video with the results.
Gotta love AREs. I've had two and they've both been super solid and water tight.
I love it
Nice job...completely envious! I've got the softopper on for te 6ft bed, but would love to do what you did. Can't wait ti see more.
Hey man, I just wanted to tell ya, you did a really good job refurbishing that cap, gave me some great ideas. thanks a lot ! Cheers !
I've built 2 small campers and have used Vantech roof racks on them. Really pleased with their products. Your cap came out awesome ❗
Can't wait to see the rest of the build.
It looks wicked awesome! Love the black in contrast with your truck color!
I’m really looking forward to this series...
The dirty side almost looked like it had a mural of snow-capped mountains. 😃
EXCELLENT QUALITY WORK!!!
Thank you!
Great job! That paint looks awesome!
Awesome work. Truck looks bad ass
I’m about to start this exact same kind of build. Picking up my cap tomorrow evening!
Moosehead Beer? LOL...a Canadian element to this vid!!!
Raptor liner looks good! I also bought a cap that didn’t match. I had mine done by line-x but now wishing I went the route you did. Great work
why do you wish you went the raptor liner route instead of line-x ? im wondering because im trying to decide between the two now

Much easier to spray the bed liner and it hides imperfections
That looks really nice!!! Great job! I need to do that to my cap. Great video!👍
Lets goo!! Wicked video mate
Nice work. Thanks for the tips and links.
That was cool , thank you for sharing.
Wow turned out awesome, great job I’ll be following for more
You did a great job!
Can't wait for the next video....looks wicked awesome!
Great video!
Good job bud, looks sweet!!!
You find toppers so easy...Been looking for months
been looking for a rack this one is perfect thanks for sharing. plus needed the seal too excellent
Looking forward to next part of buildout
Great paint job 👌🏼

I spent 2 grand on my new ARE cap…couldn’t find any used in the northwest when I bought it. Looks like a lot of effort but yours looks great
Looks great 👍 👌
Can you do a rig walk around? Wheels, suspension etc.. Sweet truck!
Yup! Working on the inside video right now. Gonna be awesome! I will do a walk around this year.
Thank you for your video!
Please advise the brand name of your roof rack as have to accomplish the same project. Thanks!
Did you have a roof rack over the cab of the truck as well attached to the cab? If so can you do a video or tell how you installed that?
Nice job!

Pretty nice...im thinking of not going with leer 122 highrise as you cannot add a roof rack.
Maine I live in Maine too.

2 I think
Hey what grit sandpaper did you use? Looks awesome
@@MatthewLaubach 80-150. Doesn’t really matter. The Berliner hides it all. It’s just to rough it up to help it stick
What do you think of that roof rack/bar setup now after a year of use? That setup is truly the only reasonably priced rack for a topper available.
No complaints. Love it
My only question is what type of truck did the cap come off of?
What’s the link to the cross bars?
What grit sandpaper did you use? I’m picking up my used cap for my Tundra tomorrow and going to do the same Raptor liner.
Where did you find the railing system?

All the time. No issues
looks good im doing same thing on mine so this helped a lot , who says youtube sux lol
So, did you spray it at 80psi, or the recommended psi?

It’s been perfect. This is a legit bed-liner. Not rattle can. It’s 2 parts. Very durable. And mines been 2 winters in salt and crappy road/driving

Does that bed liner have a red tint to it? Or is that just me
@@lucasdslisher no it’s solid black

Not at all
