  • Ozarks International Raceway is a new 3.9-mile racetrack with a few different configurations located in Gravois Mills, MO. This is my first time here and thought it would be good to give you all my take on a few corners as well as a heads up about respecting this place on your first time out. I also have some in-car video at the end so you can get a race view of this tricky track... that can bite you!

    Great stuff - thanks for creating and sharing this. Kent really knew how to get around this place quickly!

    It's like a group of men sat down and said let's recreate every fun hill, jump, and corner we ever experienced and put it on a race track!

      Something like that! It just worked out with all the elevation changes around that place.

    Drove it last week! Unbelievable facility! He's not kidding, RESPECT the track! Once you are able to put it all together it will blow you away! What a challenge.

    WOW. Thanks for sharing this Jesse. I can see what you are talking about. I cut my teeth at Road Atlanta (with the dip) and it is still my home track. I hope people listen to your advice and learn as much as they can before they get on track and then be patient with the speed. I hope to get there one day.

      @@smiley800 yea it's an ok track. Rd ATL is much better for sure but it's still a lot of fun. If you are from the Atlanta area I could have you out to AMP sometime. What car do you drive? I'm Jon btw...

    There website says they are planning of having Indycar, IMSA, and NASCAR events there in the next five years. Do you think this track is a true candidate for any of those series?

    • @jpm
      @jpm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really my decision, but what I will say is that any track demands respect and those that go beyond the limits of their abilities or capabilities will be learning lessons shortly after.
      Is there a perfect track out there for any one series? Nope.
      That is what makes racing so challenging and knowing what you and your car are capable of more than the other guy is what ends up on the podium of any track. What are your thoughts?

    I live close and have been waiting and following for several years on this track. I cannot wait to get out there on it. I'm really hoping they get some kart racing going on it as well.

    Tell me a little about your through's on turn 4? Is it a very big sweeper ? I couldn't tell if you over shot it on 2nd and 3rd lap, or if it is that tricky where you need to slow down (more than you think) to the outside line. You also stayed further out from the rumble strips than i would think at the end of turn 4 as it didn't allow you to prep well enough for turn 5. Might be one of things that video doesn't show all.
    Haven't ran it, just trying to mentally prepare for a test and tune day coming up in a couple weeks. I liked your video, way more visibility than other in-car footage.

    • @jpm
      @jpm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion the correct line is carry as much speed into 3 but you're cresting a blind crest as you do so. Once you're carrying a ton of speed through there the brake zone is straight and you track out at 4. This sets you up to kind of diamond it wide so you can carry speed through 5. I believe this will be the fast way through. Once you're on the track it might make more sense.

    I'm guessing the wide angle incar view doesn't do this track justice on how much elevation change there is. Turn 1 looks hairy. The SRO folks are suppose to be there next month. Those humps on the back straightaway going to be pretty interesting.

    • @jpm
      @jpm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right. The elevation changes are more impressive in person and at speed. Will be good to watch how the different races go here for sure.

      @@jpm Well, you were not kidding about this track. Did the majors last weekend. I didn't do the test day so qualifying on Saturday was my first look at the track. I watched plenty of incar videos before hand and followed others like Sam Henry. My hands were shaking after that first run at the track. By the end of the day on Sunday I was getting a handle of the track. Finally having the balls to go flat out over the roller coaster on the back straight. I ran a 2:47.1 but was still not 100% comfortable in a some of the corners like 1, 7 and 9. I wasn't having trouble with the turn in points. I posted my best lap was Sunday.
      My first impression of this track on course was , WOW this place is crazy and a bit scary.

    Still amazing that a track built out in the sticks needs to be a canyon of walls. Hopefully it races clean, or it will eat cars.

    • @jpm
      @jpm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So long as the drivers respect the track, it will be good. You know what they say about "red mist" though.

    • @RbNetEngr
      @RbNetEngr ปีที่แล้ว

      That MGA just tore up the rest of the field. Kudos to the driver, he really knows his way around the track, and the limits of that car. It's surprising how easily he was able to pass all of those V8 powered Mustangs. I guess that's what happens when you have a great handling car with lots of grip, which are two things the Mustangs don't have. lol
