Bill I'd like to say that the video, for the most part, is well thought out and put together. I think it does a good job of explaining baselines for those who don't quite have enough experience with them. That said, you mentioned something that is not exactly true. Milestones do in fact record in the baseline. It's important that end users understand this and that if their baselines are not showing in the Gantt chart, then it is most likely because they do not have their bars set up to show milestone baselines.
Having playback so many times and read the book manual several times, now I know what u r talking about. I would say baseline topic is the hardest part to understand in primavera p6.
Thanks so much for the explanation. I have a question for you: Would you know what would be the cause(s) of some outrageous Total Float on an activity that has relationship with multiple activities? I thought one cause could be from a relationship between two (or more) activities that are too far apart (time wise) in a crowded schedule. This doesn't seem to be the problem in my case. Any hint? I appreciate your comment.
After I create an initial project baseline and update against them, I put in actual start and finish dates. Once I schedule, the original activity durations change. Shouldn't the original activity duration remain the same from the original baseline. The Actual durations should be shown in a separate column. Currently, I have this problem with the original activity durations. There may be a setting that I have incorrectly???????
