    helpful video, I think importing progress from Excel seems to be much easier option as you have shown in your other video.

      I agree! Huge time saver in many cases. Especially when you're dealing with many rows of data.

    Let's suppose we don't remember the actual start date of the activity 'Foundation'. The activity was to finish by 21 July but it didn't finish by the Baseline finish date. Today is 24th of July and we know that the said activity is 70 % complete. Can we go to '% Activity Complete column' and directly write 70% and schedule it? Will it be right thing to do?

    Great video and explanation!
    One question only: What is the difference between update schedule using the button F9 "Schedule" and the button "Update Progress"?
    Thank you!

      Good question! The F9 "Schedule" button is when you've manually applied your progress to the schedule and are ready to recalculate the schedule based on the progress you inputted. Whereas the "Update Progress" function is where you drag the data date to a future date, and the progress gets applied exactly how the activities are planned. It's unlikely that this will ever happen which is why it's a function that is not typically used.

    Thanks for the Excellent Video! I got an issue though. My original duration always changes whenever I update the activities with a different actual start and finish date to the baseline but doesn't change when the dates are same as the baseline. Please what am I doing wrongly?

      My guess is you have the resource setting checked called "Drive activity dates by default". This can be checked at both the project level and the resource level. So my question would be, #1 - Do you have resources assigned to the activities. #2 - If so, make sure to uncheck the "Drive activity dates by default" on the resource assignment. That should take care of the issue.

    I have assigned a baseline and resources but when I schedule the project my performance% and schedule % change in activities but not on the overall project percentage. How can i fix this so i can see the overall percentage of the project.

      Make sure that under Admin Preferences > Earned Value You have the "Earned Value Calculation" set to "At Completion Values with Current Dates". That may be the reason your baseline dates are not correct.

    when i try to maintain baseline, and after i pick a baseline i want, it says "The project has baselines of its own. You may not convert this project into a baseline", what do i do ?

    it necessary to make a copy without base line and then update?

    • @PJMScheduling
      @PJMScheduling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! You need to make copies of the schedule each time you perform an update. That way you have a record of the schedule at each interval. If you simply have one schedule that you continue to update with no copies, it will make it extremely difficult to perform delay analyses after-the-fact. Make copies! You won't regret it!
