If you have 8 does you can breed one every week. I like to breed two per week so I can foster with a doe if needed. That schedule puts you on a 25 day breed back. 25 days plus 31 day gestation = 56 days. This way you always breed on the same day of the week. The plan is scaleable if you want to go bigger. You’d start with 8 teams of two and so on... if 25 days is too fast or hard on your does then add another 7 days. As long as the total days are divisible by 7 your scheduling will be easy. Best of luck
Reluctant does is a common problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the stock but more the attitude of the individual rabbit. My doe is almost always ready to breed and that is one of the reasons I keep her around. She is a little grumpy and her litters take a long time to grow out. But being willing to breed at anytime is a blessing. Hang in there and keep trying, they should eventually lift for the buck.
And rabbits need fresh water out of a dish 24/7 this is because rabbits on bottles have a high risk of dehydration because the tip of it doesn’t allow enough water at a time and rabbits drink as much water as a twenty pound dog even tho they are typically much smaller then that so with bottles their is also a big risk of bacteria inside of it so all you have to do to prevent his is by using a big heavy ceramic dish filled to the top with water and cleaned 2 a day so that it stays clean
Help Chris - New to rabbits so thanks for all the help. Have two does; Bred black, left her in pen with male, had 9 babies, all died. Put my other white doe in the pen with the buck and black mama, who attacked the white one (never bred before). Separated the black one; buck bred the white one, but she now acts as if she's in some form of shock. ADVICE PLEASE! Mistakes I made?
Great job... I don't need to breed yet so my babies are still with mommy at almost 10 weeks she is still nursing sometimes I seen her the other day I thought she had stopped lol...
I am hopping to be breeding again b4 it warms up a bit spring babies born in may beginning would be OK for us so March April would be a good time for us.... March we still get 40below weather...
Your doe may get bred by her baby if you wait much longer. The doe could hurt one as she gets territorial about her spot. Hoping to save you some grief. Best of luck.
@@robs9574 yes I realize that I have a close eye on them thanks for your advice... In the next few weeks they will start acting like teenagers and mommy can start to get grouchy... The babies are not trying any leap frog at the moment thanks again
They will continue to nurse (or at least try to) as long as they can. But they can easily be moved off the mother at this point. Sounds like you have plenty of time to re breed though.
My does are so annoying. They take FOREVER to lift. I’ve started to just leave them with the buck for 3 days to a week to insure breeding and even then, I’ve had no kitting.
Hi could you pls help me find out the breed of my rabbit.. we adopted her and she has just had 7 baby’s .. would love any help , if it’s ok and u say I can I will post a like to my videos on hear.... thank u
4.8 pounds is a pretty decent size. I like mine to get to that weight by about 8 weeks old but that can be hard to do. You really need very good breeding stock to get those results.
Does will wean their baby’s themselves. Once they hit 4 weeks old the doe isn’t even nursing them at all. I’ve weaned some as early as 24 days old with no problems. If you leave the kits with her till they are 6 weeks old she isn’t going to keep nursing them.
Just keep the mother's feeder full and they will start eating from it when they are ready. They need to be kept with the mother to nurse for at least 6 weeks but they will start eating some solid food way before that.
Hey there. The best way is usually in the comments on my videos. You can also join a live broadcast on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Central if that time frame works for you.
Another thing when keeping rabbits outside they can easily get many health problems as well as tics, mites infections etc this is another reason for why rabbits should be kept indoors in either a large dog pen, expend or free roam of a room or more with soft flooring
Could you please share a few more rabbit recipes? I love eating our rabbits and am able to use rabbit to replace any other “white meat” in a recipe. But hubby can always tell. He will eat it but not enjoy it quite as much as had it been chicken or turkey. I need a recipe that will mask it a bit more
I will see what I can do. I am not sure you can completely hide it but there are things you can do. Try recipes that call for shredded chicken (like fajitas or enchiladas) and cook the rabbit in chicken stock. That might help.
Omg this is so wrong... too anyone who thinks this is fine you and this guy should take a look at the houserabbitsociety online and on TH-cam, 101 rabbits, Victoria Rachel, Lennon the bunny and much more.... the reason this is wrong because for one people shouldn’t breed rabbits their are already so many in rescues and shelters over filled that need adopting for many reasons like, people not realizing that they are not cheap and easy pets etc so by breeding them it makes the situation worse, that is why people neuter and spay rabbits. As well as rabbits don’t belong in cages outside... their are just to many risks like bad weather, rain snow heat thunder predators that can cause your rabbit to go into shock and possibly die. etc especially heat and cold which can also make them die too. So to correct this people need to get their rabbits fixed, bring them indoors in large dog expens or free roam, instead of tiny cages then with a couple cups of veggies and pellets sometimes (check with vet) and yes rabbits need vet care! Lots of hay unlimited amount all day everyday, new chew toys to wear down their teeth so that they are not overgrown. (They can be liter trained.) and pls do not put a rabbit on a wire bottle surface rabbits get sore hocks because they have no padding like dogs do. As well as ever has their own opinions on eating rabbits or not I don’t because I feel it’s not right but others can so don’t take this offensively I am only here commenting because I have done years and years of research on rabbit care. Pls everyone consider this and if any one has questions comment on my vids for a response or just here.😁🐰
101 pets ,seems like you are a "know it all" if you do not like this mans way of doing things stay off his youtube page and make your own vidoes. Not sure where you live but where I'm from EVERYBODY keeps rabbits OUTSIDE ! By the way I would never keep a rabbit in my house the smell would be horrendous, and I do not own rabbits.
Tim Stringer rabbits don’t smell in general it’s the habitat that gets smelly from it not being cleaned properly and if you didn’t know rabbits can easily be liter trained after being fixed. When you don’t get a rabbit fixed they most likely would mark their territory with pee/poop. This is not the 1980s when it was ok to keep rabbits outdoors in bad weather such as cold/heat/predators tics etc. this then can cause a rabbit to go in sock of fear or bad weather conditions and breeding rabbits. This is 2020 now and people keep rabbits indoor away from these risks. Since you don’t think I’m right you should do more research on good rabbit care such as Lennon the bunny and 101 rabbits here on TH-cam. This is why the houserabbitsociety is called HOUSE Rabbit because they are meant indoors!
Also being a “know it all “ isn’t always a bad thing take our conversation as an example I clearly know way more right knowledge on rabbits 🐇 so get up on your research! As well as the BIG reason why BREEDING rabbits is bad is because first off their are just way to many rabbits in shelters and rescues because theirs just to many of them in the wrong hands not knowing enough knowledge. They then just either get dumped on the streets like garbage or bring them to rescues were they could possibly be put down if not adopted soon. (Rescues are just so packed.)Which then makes the situation worse with more rabbits coming into the world. And the cycle goes over and over again. Rabbits are just so underestimated then what people think, they are not a cheap pet then need hay 24/7 to keep their gut moving so they don’t get Gi stacis (common rabbit illness) which means your rabbit stops eating, with in 12 hr they could die so you would need to bring them to the vets ( If you actually give a care in the world to help them get healthy again. which can cost up to a thousand dollars for treatment. Oh I forgot to mention that rabbits are now able to normal get up to 10+ years old! (If cared properly INDOORS) if you need anymore care info like I said watch 101 rabbits here on TH-cam!
I think you must be mistaking me as a pet rabbit guy. My rabbits are livestock and my videos are for people that are raising rabbits for meat. you might be best to stick to your other channels you mentioned.
MMM, Getting pet rabbits from rescues and shelters to use for meat sounds super expensive. I doubt Chris or anyone else that breeds rabbits for meat will be going that route.

That is a good simple way to put it. I don't plan on going as big as that but if I did.....
Well I got 25 does
I've learned a lot watching your rabbit videos..
Thanks
Man, your doe bred so much easier/faster than my nursing NZs. Mine are very reluctant lately.
Do you think that it’s a quality of stock issue? Personality?
Reluctant does is a common problem. I don't think it has anything to do with the quality of the stock but more the attitude of the individual rabbit. Thank you so much. Your videos are so informative. I learn from you so much.

I rebreed three weeks after kindling, and I move the kits into another cage one week later.
That is very early to wean rabbits in my opinion. But if it works for you then no reason to change.

Wild Edibles “leap frog” ha that’s awesome!😁 I’m going to borrow that term, thank you.

Very informative, great vid chris. On a side note your jacket is very nice. What brand is it and where could a man pick one up?

I am sorry to hear that. it might be time to look for some new breeders.

Slightly Rednecked thank you so much my vids are on hear if u click my name .. thank u again..
My babies weigh 4.2-4.8#'s, but they look so tiny! I started weighing them because I was growing them out and feeding them waaay too long!

I never had luck with regressing while she's nurcing
Some does aren't as receptive to it as others are.
Is it ok to breed half siblings from different litters? Same dad different mom
Al long as they are both in good Heath that’s fine.
Pls what is their breed

Thank you so much.
Where is the best place to buy rabbits for breeding? Haven't decided if I want them for meat or not yet...
It depends on where you live and what is available. I usually just look on craigslist for mine or visit a local poultry swap.
Hey my rabbit had a baby 2weeks ago .
How many day the baby need to drink the milk from the mommy rabbit.
When should I feed solid food to the babies.
Just keep the mother's feeder full and they will start eating from it when they are ready. They need to be kept with the mother to nurse for at least 6 weeks but they will start eating some solid food way before that.
You do it 2 weeks
Male rabbit needs a sandwich and a cigarette.
Hi, I'm from Indonesia, can I communicate with you to talk about rabbits?

If take her out and then in a about 6to 8 hours she will have more baby
I have never found that to be the case myself. But you can try it if you want to.
@@Slightlyrednecked I don't have to I raise a 100 baby a month and it works
