I truly believe they are an example of right person wrong time. They got together in the most shitty time of their lives. Because of that their relationship is codependent. Like Marcus said a person shouldn’t be responsible for your happiness. Knowing Netflix they will 100% likely get back together but I hope their relationship this time will be more healthy.
As toxic as they can be for one another since they’re both hurting I truly do think Georgia’s talk with Marcus was the catalyst for this and Marcus’s decision to end things. He started viewing his pain as holding Ginny back. Got in his head and ended something good in his life. Just wait till Ginny finds out…all that mother daughter progress down the drain. 😭😭😭
In my opinion he had a good reasoning before regardless of Georgia’s words. He explained it while talking to Max before the breakup, saying that the problem is that Ginny is his only source of happiness and that it’s not healthy. Therefore I don’t really think it’s Georgia’s fault. This break up is really realistic and reflective. He loves Ginny but there’s something about their relationship that is not good for him. He has to learn how to love himself first. A relationship should make you feel strong, but the conditions make him feel like he shouldn’t be in the relationship. So it’s just fair to break up.
I don’t think Marcus was toxic for Ginny Ginny was the toxic on she only cared about her self and didn’t even notice the fact that Marcus was depressed

I see Marcus pov so well, I also struggle with depression and the thought of being in a relationship makes me sick. Better to stay single until you’re healthy again
Talking to someone if you're depressed might not be as effective but it slowly works. You can't keep it all to yourself forever. At some point you'll need to tell someone you trust.
@@zar5101 I probably should talk to someone, it feels like thoughts about dying are slowly infecting my brain. I would never kill myself but the thoughts are annoying as hell and it sure would feel good to get rid of them

I can't even begin to explain how damn relatable this scene and relationship is... I am literally Ginney. One of my girlfriends has a twin brother and through her we connected and we fell in love with eachother, first love. I'm going to therapy and working on building myself up while him and I are talking about our future and getting married this year. But then he recently started shifting away from me because of his severe depression. And he kept shutting me out and it broke my heart because he wouldn't let me in to help. Until finally, he fully let me out by breaking up with me because his mental health got so bad. He couldn't sustain this relationship because he couldn't even do that for himself. It's been about a month and till day I'm so heartbroken and feel Ginneys pain. What I want to say is: I'm proud of the men in both contexts for ending the relationship to nourish themselves, I want them to grow and love themselves. But that doesn't take away mine/ Ginneys heartbreak and all the love we invested in our first love. It just effin hurts. 🥺
Really felt Ginny in this scene. I got broken up with in November randomly by my ex, and it really broke me. He made a lot of promises that I would just whisper and question while crying. I think he loved me - if he didn't, well, shit, that just really sucks - and just really needed to work on himself for a long time. I was his priority, but I knew his issues, so it makes sense.
Whenever they say its not you its them doesn't change the fact that it makes you feel worthless and hurts like hell. When she said "so you're just okay with never holding me never kissing me you're just done?" Is exactly how I feel. 😢
@Disney Channel AMV my point is that he knew he was going to hurt her the first time he was with her and did it anyway. He knew he had to keep her a secret before his sister found out. He knew he didn't "do relationships". He knew all of that before he slept with her for the first time. If he wanted to protect her, he shouldn't have gone there, but once he did, once he knew she felt things for him he played with her and hurt her, then fell for her and left her. It's such a toxic trope. He already hurt her and kept hurting her, and of I know my teen dramas, he will keep hurting her till he finally has an epiphany right about the time she has moved on. She will leave the new guy for him and he will hurt her.
@@allisonharranmua8193 to be fair it’s actually Georgia who caused this in a way. She got him thinking about he has to let her go without holding her back. He is severely depressed and Ginny the only thing that makes him happy which is something he feels guilt about ever since Georgia gave him the over protective mom talk. Like now he feels like he doesn’t deserve love right now bc it’s too much responsibility to put on one person. But will he communicate that? No. 💀 Ginny finds out for herself.
@@editaudioaesthetic Umm that's complete BS. Marcus breaking up with Ginny had nothing to do with Georgia. He did it bc he's depressed and she's the only thing that makes him happy and like he said that's too much to put on one person. No one should be responsible for your happiness. Do I think he needs to go to therapy and adjust his meds? yes but like he said he has no room to care for anyone right now and that's a pretty realistic description of how deep depression is.
@@allisonharranmua8193 he didn’t played with him he still love her even Max said that but he had a lot thing in his life that’s why he broke up with her I’m agree with him
Watching Marcus brings back some really dark memories. I remember having a thing w a guy that was very depressed and looked similar to him. Trying to be there for him meant I neglected my own mental health and become quite depressed myself. But it was like as long as I had him, I had something to look forward to. That's not a good feeling. I understood his side too. Feeling so alone in your darkness and you end up sabotaging something good. It's better that things ended. You can't drag someone along and putting all your happiness in them.
This was a healthy choice on his part - and he was thinking of that for the both of them in that respect. You can see it was breaking his heart to hurt her but he had to do it.
fr the actress is amazing, i completely felt this scene and i could feel her pain just by watching it, even though it’s entirely fictional. absolutely amazing acting
I just don't understand why people are making Marcus the villain. The amount of time Marcus saves ginny from self harming and had to listen to her sad talk while Marcus never spoke to anyone how depressed he was. Are we gonna ignore the fact ginny literally insulted marcus when he confessed in season 1 or the time when ginny abandoned him for like 2 weeks just cause she was mad at her mom ??
i was so upset and mad that they broke up because they were really the only reason I watched it. I love this to and they were made for their roles, but if Ginny stayed there and listen to the whole converstion with marcus and max then she would of not said anything, and asked him all that and broke up with him, because he loves her and she loves him i see it! I hope they get back together in season 3 and which i believe they will. But right now they are friends with benefits.
think they are not having those benefits now. The friendship is the only thing they need... Great acting. I am kind of tired of the"hear part of the conversation then leave" missing the most important part- trick. So much unnecessary pain...
I am so incredibly impressed by this scene written in a coming-of-age show. Hollywood teen shows have evolved in such a reflective and self-aware way. This scene seems very realistic from both perspective. With Ginny not understanding yet, that relationships is not just about two people in love with each other but also how each other’s circumstances make them feel. If Marcus wasn’t depressed he might have been able to handle her but as he said in his condition he just doesn’t have space for her pain, when he has to deal with himself first. And that it’s not healthy for him to be dependent on her. Sometimes you still have to save yourself no matter how much you love the person. If you can’t give them what they need, a relationship can’t last.
They both depend on each other a bit too much. It’s not healthy. Not for themselves or each other. They love each other, but they Will destroy each other if they keep at it. Maybe in a few years, when they’ve healed some more, they can try it again. But right now the best and most healthy thing to do is let each other go.
I have to admit, I really got pissed up in this episode. Why the fuck did no one cared about Marcus. His pain was so extreme obvious. If he would be my boyfriend, I would give him everything he needs to get out of his hole and I would just stop for a moment to think that the world just spins around myself. Like Ginny, max and the other girls in the show got portrayed. All of the girls were self centered and man hating, it really was a pain to watch. But ofc. If girls think that boys are worthless or for no use and dumb, they also dont care about their pain. The series was interesting to watch, but netflix needs to stop this man bashing girl shit. Girls should not learn that's ok to think that man are useless and only wants to oppress everyone. Same like boys learn that woman are no object for sexual desire. 2 Sides Netflix. 2 Sides. That's why I really like the character of Marcus. Showing his suffer is important
Marcus was sending out so many signals that he needed help. Parents did finally start him back on meds. He was trying to "not hold Ginny back" since Georgia poisoned his thoughts. Yes,he needed her as a friend until he got more help. Oh, so well done. Self-harming and deep depression. Not so easy being YOUNG, when you remember it.
??? Are you completely forgetting Ginny was also going through so much. She was always vocal about her pain and her hurt since they began dating and he kept everything in. It’s neither of their faults and his brooding behavior could easily be mistaken as something else to those who were preoccupied. They’re also kids. I’m sick of this narrative that the audience thinks they’d be a better girlfriend to Marcus. He even says no one should be responsible for his happiness and he didn’t want anyone. Cut them some slack.
@@Ella-px1xw Never can I forget Ginny's burden. These topics are so important. Depression is so debilitating and secretive. These young actors do an amazing job presenting their characters. I appreciate the love-friendship which both need even more than the romantic-relationship right now. I keep going back to watch again. Blown away completely.
Ginny always made everything about herself, her life, her problems, her emotions, and Marcus was always there to comfort her and provide her with any help she needed. I do feel like she was also using him as a distraction to get way from her personal "hell" (for example when she vented about Georgia and what she did and then proceeded to have sex with him), and Marcus wasn't blind, of course he understood everything. But him being at its lowest, he also knew he couldn't be what Ginny needed (he himself wasn't happy, how the hell could he find the strength and energy to make someone else happy?), and he also knew that whenever Ginny would vent and vent to him non-stop, he just couldn't take it anymore, it was draining. In the first episodes, when she said to him that "she's broken", to which he replied "i'm also broken", and she then literally said "you don't understand", i could feel his pain in this because this was the only time he tried to open up to Ginny and yet she still didn't care enough to let him in, and continued, yet again, talking about her problems. He loved her so much, and that's why he knew that he was in such a bad state in his life that he wouldn't want to affect Ginny in any way possible, as she was going through a lot herself (a phrase she never lost an opportunity to mention),which is quite the opposite of what she did to him. She never actually cared enough to see through him, to notice that he was hurting, and even ask him if he's okay. And even in this breakup scene, he literally said to her "i don't have room for anyone else's pain right now", heavily implying that he wasn't doing well, Ginny literally ignored that?? And kept on rambling about how SHE felt and, unsurprisingly, how SHE was hurting?? I don't hate Ginny but I'm full on Marcus' side on this one, and i think this breakup is the best for both of them.
Um….literally they all did. Did you not see any of Max’s scenes? Max is way more self centered. Unlike Ginny, at least Max doesn’t come from a home where it’s just her, her brother, and one of her parents….her mom never lied to her or kept secrets from her, they probably lived in that town all of Max’s life, and at least Max isn’t bi-racial and has to deal with racial struggles unlike Ginny
nah man i disagree. i’m absolutely done with the ginny slander. this girl is only 16 yet self harms, has problems going on with her parents, found out her mom killed for her, her dad left after promising to stay when her mental health got to shit and she needed him, she almost got sexually assaulted by kenny, and she keeps finding out more insane family secrets. it’s absolutely understandable that she acted this way. she was absolutely heartbroken bc she was already going through traumatic events. and i’m pretty sure most ppl “make it about themselves” and cry during a breakup. marcus knew everything about her and was the only person who never judged her. it was a very mentally difficult moment for her. and later on in the show she told marcus that she still wanted to be his friend and be emotionally there for him if he ever needed anything or someone to talk to. ginny isn’t selfish, she’s a teen girl who’s just going through a lot and wasn’t mentally stable. she tried her best.
“ I don’t have room for anyone else’s pain right now “ Marcus literally told her up front that he’s hurting but they just keep talking about Ginny and Ginny makes everything about her and GINNY still makes it about HER
Idk which is better mental health or love? Until he can focus fully on himself & his healing, it true he doesn't have room to add her overwhelming pain onto his plate. It's too much. Though it sad and sucks really bad emotionally, they have to be apart until he can get better. Who knows; they might end up together again by season 3 or end of season 3.
I feel like this episode was Ginny's chance to be the bigger person and comfort him, but she made it about herself with the whole "you're leaving, you're hurting me." She never asked why he was drinking and skipping classes, and that's a major sign someone is feeling depressed. But still she didn't try to talk to him about it.
Maybe because she was dealing with her own shit, and actually Juliette if you watched the show you’d know she did try and talk to him about it, in fact that exact same day she overheard max and Marcus’s conversation she was going to talk to him.
How is she to just guess that he is in depression? Yes it's a sign but her mom murdered three people, she probably didn't have it in her headspace to just guess what other people are feeling. Marcus needs to tell her that herself. And she did ask why he was drinking a few times.
@@kau0303I don't even think it was just that, its also like how self absorbed do you have to be to not also notice the people around Marcus also sharing their concerns? It seems like as long as he was there for her, she was fine with him drinking, skipping class etc.
She comes around to that but it’s very understandable for someone she loves and depends on to all the sudden break up like that they left on good terms and they still love each other he just needs space
To be fair Marcus didn’t communicate with Ginny really well why he actually broke up with her. He was really quiet and kinda acted like he didn’t care. He never really said straight forward that he needs to work on himself
I've literally said those exact words to my first love!! "You can't say that to me. You're not saying that to me. You love me. You're talking to mee. You said you loved me." Like for some reason my brain couldn't comprehend he was hurting me, and wanted to leave. He was also struggling mentally. But that shytt hurt. Feels like your chest is being hit by a semi truck. They did a good job with the accuracy here.
She deserves what she got the way she did her first boyfriend is wrong this is karma you weep what you sow she cheated on hunter every chance she got ppl who shear in the end never win and this is that example we need to as people stop promoting and advertising toxic attraction and love it's not good or healthy
I’m so sick of ppl in this show breaking up because of these “it’s not you it’s me” reasons. First Sophie now Marcus. Why can’t we just keep Ginny and Marcus? Can we plz just have this one thing?
Because Ginny is as being self centered and didn’t even notice that Marcus was depressed and like Marcus said that Ginny shouldn’t be the only reason he’s happy. They need to work on themselves and possibly get back together. They got together in a toxic way. I don’t think they should get back together because Ginny in a lot of ways is bad for Marcus, he’s always a people’s pleaser to Ginny because he feels bad for her, she always make situations about her, she throws stuff in peoples face, and can get other people involved in her personal situations. That kind of stuff is toxic. I don’t think they should be together like not at the time, I think they are better off as friends so no more drama happens. Then I’m the future when they both are healthy maybe then they can possibly date again but I feel like Ginny will still go back to her old manipulative ways.
Does Ginny even know that Marcus is struggling with depression? Because I think that if she knew about his depression it would make a lot more sense to her and she would understand why he's doing what he did by breaking up with her
When you break two characters because someone nagged you to make them be together. Ngl I noticed she would depend on him instead of coping with things like a bad trauma response instead of a healthy relationship.
She had some real pretty good scenes where she could shine as an actor. Ginny is not my favourite character but this season gave her much more space to make her more relatable.
I can relate so much. It’s hard to be in a relationship when you’re going through so much depression. It’s hard to even function. You start being very hard on yourself.
Would have been nice if Marcus was honest and told Ginny what he is going through instead of keeping it a secret. As for Ginny if she wasn’t self centred she would have know something is wrong when Marcus turned up drunk to school but rather she’s stuck in her own world. Oh well she deserves for hurting hunter 😅
The relationship started with an affair... may as well end like it was always one anyway. Funny how she bent out of shape here but not for crushing her ex.
Marcus’ depression was such a lazy angle. It didn’t have any explanation whatsoever and came out of nowhere. They just added it on to give them a reason to breakup. I enjoyed season 2 overall, but that really bugged me.
The fact that she was trying to save it however she can cause of the pain being so unbearable , god I would’ve been able to relate in high school , telling him that if we’re over like we can’t do all the things we do together anymore and that’s what was hurting her the most and his facial expressions just to nonchalant in a sense and the fact that she doesn’t know what’s going on she believes that he doesn’t care even though she know he does , where is went wrong probably is the only thing going through her head and then being in high school intensifies it . She was spot on in this scene . That heartbreak was like nothing I’d felt before when I was that age
@@vixenx7800 yea but that’s the thing Marcus couldn’t handle dealing with her stuff and his stuff too, Ginny finds anyway in a bad situation to make it about herself. She’s high key an attention seeker. She never asked how Marcus was doing or anything. And when things don’t go her way for once she wants to act like she’s dying that she doesn’t get her way. I feel like they shouldn’t get back together until both of them are healthy but I think Ginny might stay the same and their better off as friends. And we know Ginny has her problems to but she uses it to make people feel bad for her so they will stay and that’s not right. The actress for Ginny is amazing but I wish they would of gave her a better character cause she treats her mom bad and her friends like her whole friend group are toxic in different ways💯

Ok well I watched it and I’m so annoyed with Ginny. She never even asked Marcus if he was ok and kept blaming him. It was so clear he was hurting. Ginny always goes to Marcus with her feelings but has never asked Marcus if he was ok. Marcus didn’t complain about his feelings all the time like Ginny did. @@HoneyyyAai hope we’re watching the same show because in season 2 she’s so much more raw, understandable, genuine, loving, and multidimensional than she was in the previous season. she fixed her relationship with her mom, she told her she loves her, she protected her from the police and from the detective, and she told the detective she even hates him. she is the reason georgia got married because she canceled at first but ginny planted that seed in georgia to reach out to paul and tell him the truth and he loved her so they got married. ginny collaborated with joe at the end of the season and got her a horse carriage with a horse named “milkshake” because it was special to georgia. anyone who hates ginny at this point is a racist.

Tbh , it was gonna happen eventually
I'm sorry but when Ginny says "What's with this hallway?" I laughed cus that's literally what I said once they started talking 😂. Like is this the hallway where all relationships just turn to 💩?

Dare I say it, but their relationship was giving codependent to me. I’m actually happy they broke up. Now they can be happy and healthy on their own and may be find their way back to each other.
So true
yeah, and ginny and him stayed friends which made me happy. i appreciate that ginny told him later that she’s still there for him emotionally as a friend if he needed anything. it shows that she technically was trying her best, even if she was mentally unstable at that time due to her trauma.
I see Marcus pov so well, I also struggle with depression and the thought of being in a relationship makes me sick. Better to stay single until you’re healthy again
Talk to someone if u are depressed, all will geh better
Talking to someone if you're depressed might not be as effective but it slowly works. You can't keep it all to yourself forever. At some point you'll need to tell someone you trust.
yeah
@@zar5101 I probably should talk to someone, it feels like thoughts about dying are slowly infecting my brain. I would never kill myself but the thoughts are annoying as hell and it sure would feel good to get rid of them
@Mi I sort of know what it's like. Trust me talking to someone you trust would definitely help. You're already strong enough for being able to keep them to yourself but now you need to let people help you yk. Finding a new hobby can be good. Even doing the stuff you lost interest in can be good too.

I think he said something like "it's like Ginny is responsible for my happiness" and that's how I knew he's gonna break up with her.
No one should be responsible for another person's happiness. So true.
I’m so sorry. 🫂❤️
This is creepy...but literally that's exactly how my breakup went down a month ago. Each and every single line
Ugh I'm so suck of the "I'm hurting you to protect you from me hurting you" trope
But he was right Would you have preferred him to hurt her?
@@allisonharranmua8193 he didn’t played with him he still love her even Max said that but he had a lot thing in his life that’s why he broke up with her I’m agree with him
Man she really loved Marcus like Hunter never stood a chance against that.
You can't drag someone along and putting all your happiness in them.
when ginny said "follow me" and he wasnt, i felt that man
This was a healthy choice on his part - and he was thinking of that for the both of them in that respect. You can see it was breaking his heart to hurt her but he had to do it.
Relationships like this can be so passionate and intense but damnnnn it toes all on the line of codependency.
I hated this moment they can’t be done. I guarantee they’ll be back together in season three and I really hope so though.
If there’s a season 3 Netflix is known to cancel
They shouldn't.
Both really need to work on their shit before commiting to a relationship.

fr the actress is amazing, i completely felt this scene and i could feel her pain just by watching it, even though it’s entirely fictional. absolutely amazing acting
This will be the same guy that gets mad when you move on
This scene was done so well, I had flashbacks 💔 I cried sm
This is an amazing scene they play their characters so well
I am so incredibly impressed by this scene written in a coming-of-age show.
I don't think that's true at all.
Marcus is a creep
I really have no feelings for her especially after the way she treated hunter in their relationship
"I'm your Ginny" 💔😭
A long paragraph of complete CAP.
@@xan8123 EXACTLY LMAO!
@@tiamarrow6366 they are both spoiled actually but in different ways
nah man i disagree. i’m absolutely done with the ginny slander. this girl is only 16 yet self harms, has problems going on with her parents, found out her mom killed for her, her dad left after promising to stay when her mental health got to shit and she needed him, she almost got sexually assaulted by kenny, and she keeps finding out more insane family secrets. it’s absolutely understandable that she acted this way. she was absolutely heartbroken bc she was already going through traumatic events. and i’m pretty sure most ppl “make it about themselves” and cry during a breakup. marcus knew everything about her and was the only person who never judged her. it was a very mentally difficult moment for her. and later on in the show she told marcus that she still wanted to be his friend and be emotionally there for him if he ever needed anything or someone to talk to. ginny isn’t selfish, she’s a teen girl who’s just going through a lot and wasn’t mentally stable. she tried her best.
“ I don’t have room for anyone else’s pain right now “ Marcus literally told her up front that he’s hurting but they just keep talking about Ginny and Ginny makes everything about her and GINNY still makes it about HER
This scene broke me 😭
Idk which is better mental health or love?
Until he can focus fully on himself & his healing, it true he doesn't have room to add her overwhelming pain onto his plate. It's too much.
Though it sad and sucks really bad emotionally, they have to be apart until he can get better. Who knows; they might end up together again by season 3 or end of season 3.
Mental health is obviously better, is that even a question. If you are in love with a horrible mental health, both the lives can become hell.
They better be together in season 3
i’ve been in this exact situation, i was marcus. i feel for him so much. great show
Sorry Ginny, you did this to yourself.
This is so good, Ginny deserve this, she cheated on hunter and did double cross she more hurts than that.
@@YanAsimsyeah well she was going through a lot and Marcus comforted her. She thinks she’s the only person with problems
@@kau0303I don't even think it was just that, its also like how self absorbed do you have to be to not also notice the people around Marcus also sharing their concerns? It seems like as long as he was there for her, she was fine with him drinking, skipping class etc.
the silence parts hit hard
I felt like their breakup was so forced
This hurts so much to watch ’cause Marcus reminds me of my ex literally and this scene seals all of my thoughts about our break up.
tbh ginny is being a little selfish.. like you've got to understand that marcus is going through stuff too and he needs to have his space...
The man barely explained himself, how could she know what he's going through??

They are shooting season 3 and 4 at the same time so double feature!!!!
i felt so bad for both of them
I’m so sick of ppl in this show breaking up because of these “it’s not you it’s me” reasons.
