Hunter pulled the racism put first in truth take it up with the people who decided to create this show. It a really flat show and it's just for drama they tried to be "cultured" but it completely flew over the writers head and the heads of many other people who fail to understand racism. Look back to the scene of what she talks about in her poem if you fail to understand you ignorant to a different reality of someone with another skin color. They failed with trying to be cultured and they failed with trying to focus on mental health. They bring it up once and call it a day.
The worst was when Georgia threw her a whole suprise birthday party and Ginny was so ungrateful and bratty and unnecessarily rude to her about it, and every one seemed to enjoy it apart from Ginny. Like MANG loved it except Ginny who was saying Georgia was embarrassing her. I felt so much anger to her in that episode
I love how when she's talking to get mom, her mom is like "I keep all these secrets from you because I love you and I wanna protect you" and she dismisses it. But then, when she's talking to Max during her stage production, she literally uses the exact same line 💀. "I kept this secret from you because I wanna protect you".
so basically what you're implying is that she literally learnt to keep secrets from her mother. what her mom should have taught her was that you dont keep secrets from people who u care about but instead she hid shit from ginny and that affected ginny to such an extent that ginny hid things from maxime and here r y'all saying that she's self absorbed and shit which might be true but she literally doesnt KNOW how to be anything other than that.

In real life this would actually exist because Georgia didn’t set boundaries on how Ginny should talk to adults. I would’ve had my ass beat. Plus technically Ginny can’t even have any close long term relationship with anyone except her mom who is secretive and which must feel like is the reason why she can’t develop relationships. Ginny hasn’t been much of a social person and she has a lot of rage. She just doesn’t have a filter or was able to learn basic sympathy earlier in her life

It drives me absolutely insane that Ginny was so ungrateful for her mom. Moms arent perfect and make mistakes. But that doesnt mean they should be defined for their mistakes. In my opinion, Ginny's mom went through a lot to make Ginny happy and taken care of. Not everyone has that kind of mom and some people would die to have a mom like that. My mom isnt perfect at all and our relationship isnt always the best, but she does love me. Instead of making her already stressful life even harder, i decided to stop being stubborn and try to help her out when she needed it and acknowledge to her when i fuck up. I used to sneak out a lot, and get so angry when she would do everything to make me come home and i regret having all those fights with her. The cake scene really pissed me off though. My mom was worried that she wouldnt have enough money to bake me a cake for my birthday this year, but she scraped up what she could. It was early morning for me as well and i didnt feel like eating cake right as of that moment, but i told her i was happy she did this for me anyways and said i love you. I ate what i could, and my mom seemed so happy. For Ginny to react that way just annoyed me so much. Its not that hard to stop being so stubborn and realize that youre the problem. Its okay to admit youre wrong and apologize for it.

whenever i think about her, i remember devi from never have i ever. a character that also went through a traumatic experience (her father dying in front of her) and was even paralyzed from the waist down due to the trauma. she grieved in a different way and showed signs of a mood disorder. she was very compulsive, made bad decisions, and was often unnecessarily rude to her mom, therapist, friends, and love interests. *but i still like her way better than ginny.* she actually genuinely tried to make amends, recognized when she made bad decisions, and attempted to grow. she acts self centered a lot and is straight up unlikeable sometimes, but she feels remorse, she apologizes, and she actually has consequences for her actions. but it's none of that with ginny, and that's why i hate her.

I think this is the first teen show I watch where I care more about the adult characters than the teen characters. Georgia was the most entertaining character for me and I loved Joe, I wanted them together so bad. And I was living for Paul and Austin's relationship because it was so wholesome

I’m black, and in the black community, if we don’t accept mixed people, then there is definitely a reason. The main reasons are colorism, blatant racism to fully black people (talking about hair texture, facial features, stereotypes) self-hating (meaning they constantly refuse to acknowledge that they’re black), etc. we don’t do it just cause you’re not fully black, that’s never the case. There is a lot of toxicity in the black community, and self hating black people is one of the reasons, cause that just strings along a whole lots of other issues. And on that note, like you said, she never WANTED to hang out with the black kids.

I’ve never despised a fictional character as much as I do Ginny. She’s literally the definition of the mean girl in high school who isn’t popular, so she somehow thinks she’s oppressed. Do not even get me STARTED on the way she treats Georgia, I think I speak for a lot of the fan base when I say a part of us truly watch for GEORGIA, because she’s likeable, she has trauma but she doesn’t make it her entire plot line, she’s a mom trying her best while also keeping her skeletons in the closet. She’s awesome, she’s a badass. I don’t think the writers understand they’ve completely villainized Ginny, but they should really take notes and give her a better arc.
I think Ginny's arc did get a bit better in the 2nd season. Even though she's annoying to watch, her shit personality sets up a good opportunity for character growth and development later.

I mean, I can't empathize with her character, but I can sympathize. I grew up with dozens and dozens of people that had a life almost as tough and unfair and unstable as hers and aside from the hilarious feminism, they were more-or-less like this. A lack of stability is exactly what ruins kids, and Ginnt got almost none.

Why not enjoy this "neutral character turned anti-hero"-arc? It's a rare find in modern shows, and it keeps the viewer engaged. One look at Ginny and you want to punch her in the face, but I honestly prefer her to an ideal Mary Sue-esque main character.

It drives me absolutely insane that Ginny was so ungrateful for her mom. Moms arent perfect and make mistakes. But that doesnt mean they should be defined for their mistakes. In my opinion, Ginny's mom went through a lot to make Ginny happy and taken care of. Not everyone has that kind of mom and some people would die to have a mom like that. My mom isnt perfect at all and our relationship isnt always the best, but she does love me. Instead of making her already stressful life even harder, i decided to stop being stubborn and try to help her out when she needed it and acknowledge to her when i fuck up. I used to sneak out a lot, and get so angry when she would do everything to make me come home and i regret having all those fights with her. The cake scene really pissed me off though. My mom was worried that she wouldnt have enough money to bake me a cake for my birthday this year, but she scraped up what she could. It was early morning for me as well and i didnt feel like eating cake right as of that moment, but i told her i was happy she did this for me anyways and said i love you. I ate what i could, and my mom seemed so happy. For Ginny to react that way just annoyed me so much. Its not that hard to stop being so stubborn and realize that youre the problem. Its okay to admit youre wrong and apologize for it.

whenever i think about her, i remember devi from never have i ever. a character that also went through a traumatic experience (her father dying in front of her) and was even paralyzed from the waist down due to the trauma. she grieved in a different way and showed signs of a mood disorder. she was very compulsive, made bad decisions, and was often unnecessarily rude to her mom, therapist, friends, and love interests. *but i still like her way better than ginny.* she actually genuinely tried to make amends, recognized when she made bad decisions, and attempted to grow. she acts self centered a lot and is straight up unlikeable sometimes, but she feels remorse, she apologizes, and she actually has consequences for her actions. but it's none of that with ginny, and that's why i hate her.

The main reasons are colorism, blatant racism to fully black people (talking about hair texture, facial features, stereotypes) self-hating (meaning they constantly refuse to acknowledge that they’re black), etc. we don’t do it just cause you’re not fully black, that’s never the case.
There is a lot of toxicity in the black community, and self hating black people is one of the reasons, cause that just strings along a whole lots of other issues.

I’ve never despised a fictional character as much as I do Ginny. She’s literally the definition of the mean girl in high school who isn’t popular, so she somehow thinks she’s oppressed. Do not even get me STARTED on the way she treats Georgia, I think I speak for a lot of the fan base when I say a part of us truly watch for GEORGIA, because she’s likeable, she has trauma but she doesn’t make it her entire plot line, she’s a mom trying her best while also keeping her skeletons in the closet. She’s awesome, she’s a badass. I don’t think the writers understand they’ve completely villainized Ginny, but they should really take notes and give her a better arc.
I think Ginny's arc did get a bit better in the 2nd season. Even though she's annoying to watch, her shit personality sets up a good opportunity for character growth and development later.
I just couldn’t stand Ginny long enough to find out if she turns into a good person who actually appreciates that her mom would give her the world if she could.

Last time I checked they had that racist conversation and he chose to react the way he did causing her to break off the relationship right there on the bedroom. So she never cheated if they broke up. I mean, I can't empathize with her character, but I can sympathize. I grew up with dozens and dozens of people that had a life almost as tough and unfair and unstable as hers and aside from the hilarious feminism, they were more-or-less like this.
A lack of stability is exactly what ruins kids, and Ginnt got almost none.

if it’s done right, the main character can start as a terrible person and grow overtime in the story. the problem is ginny didn’t change at ALL throughout the entire show

Why not enjoy this "neutral character turned anti-hero"-arc? It's a rare find in modern shows, and it keeps the viewer engaged. One look at Ginny and you want to punch her in the face, but I honestly prefer her to an ideal Mary Sue-esque main character.
I get that but it has only been one season she still has time.
