her top was most definitely chosen on purpose. showing the black and white, the ying and yang, the good and bad coexisting inside ginny. And probably also how she is caught between black and white people, belonging to neither of them and struggling with being a woman of color which her white mom could never understand. Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into it ahaha
Nah I felt like there's was a lot of symbolism is when it comes to the colors of the characters for example max wearing bright color or ginny wearing dark colors.
@Sagarika Mohapatra I don't necessarily agree. I think we can all agree that Georgia was a questionable character at some points but overall an amazing mom. However, just because you have an amazing parent doesn't mean that they're meant for you. Sometimes you just clash and you'll never be able to to see eye to eye or see the sacrifices you made for each other. It's like water and oil, both are amazing and are needed but for different purpose and neither one of them will be able to mix.
Antoine is such a amazing actress love this scene so much it was so powerful, and heartbreaking her poem was amazing I could feel her pain what she going through😭👏🏽❤.
Toni is a great actress. She used to do stand-up when at school and she was too good HAHA i was like 'nah, why is she pretending to be a cactus right now. She's too good' I keep watching her in this and i'm so excited for her future work
Georgia did everything to keep her children safe and to keep their custody she literally take bullets for her kids . I don't think she's a monster at all loved her character i wish i had mother like her we don't understand the feelings of our parents until the day we become one 🥺🥺🥺
She people looking at it from an outside perspective. Try to put yourself in Ginny shoes, finding out your mother murder people and is hiding all these secrets, always moving and never knowing the reason why. Yes she did it for them and they understand that but she doesn’t realize how it harms them and didn’t really try to understand until recently.
I think we all want to paint characters, and people, in broad strokes of good and bad. One harsh poem doesn't mean Ginny doesn't acknowledge all the good and love Georgia gave her. But all that love and sacrifice doesn't mean that Ginny wasn't hurt by certain things Georgia did and said, or didn't do or say. I think this scene, and show, is beautiful because it's not about trying to make it through life always being in the right, but rather about having enough love to heal yourself and each other when we all inevitably make mistakes. Ginny is allowed to have her pain heard without denying that Georgia is a good mother. Good parents aren't those who never cause their children pain. Good parents take responsibility for the pain they've caused and try to make up for it.
Am I too old to hide under the bed? I'm stuck in a storm But the storm's in my head All I see is lightning All I hear is thunder Just one boom coming one after the other I once was blind, but now I see The blindfolds folds have unfolded from me But try as I might to close my eyes And shut them tight and go back to black To not knowing, to trust Because now that I know I know what I must do for you What you've made me be And I'd give anything to wash it away Scrub and scrub that damn spot out But you can't wash off a tattoo Because now, you see, I'm culpable too I gnash and gnarl and gnaw until I'm raw My vocal cords vibrating With vicious and vital truths That I need to speak That you need to hear My tongue undulating With the undue burden of silence But the sound chokes back into my throat A hard swollen lump I swallow down They say mother knows best But what if there are things Mother doesn't know? Like if she can braid your hair But still stans Scarlett O'Hara You always say I am your reflection But I can't hide behind your smile And from where I'm standing We're on opposite sides of mirrored glass Me and you against the world? But the world is out to get me In ways you can never know or feel So how can you know it's real? I am sick of suffering in silence Today, I will stomp and scream and shout Until every word inside of me is out Just by knowing, by seeing That was my agreeing My hands wet, once clean Dirty with sins I don't mean Words I didn't say, dragons I didn't slay I inherit the sin And I become the monster That I was born from
I love this scene because of Antonia and briannes acting but I think the fandom really did NOT understand the point of this scene in anyway shape or form
this!! exactly what I’ve been saying. people from the fandom don’t understand ginny this season and aren’t really trying to and it shows and not gonna lie it’s annoying as hell trying to explain to people who don’t try to understand her.
@@itzzz.zahra_ Imo she was actually like a normal teen who is struggling. I don't know why so many people have a problem with her. S1.. ok fine, she definitely had some bad/weird moments, but s2 is all about character growth and working on her problems.
@Verena_fcb8 it's like people never been a teenager before and hasn't struggled with figuring who they are, ups and downs of friendships, and mental health. In S1 we were just now figuring out that oh she commits self harm but we didn't see the emotional baggage of it all until this season
The fandom has always had a hard-on for hating Ginny. She can't have any negative reaction to anything her mother says or does without people saying she's a brat and should just be grateful. I really fucking hope those people don't plan on becoming parents because they would be awful at trying to understand their children...
Meanwhile, all the girls who have mothers who allow the men in their lives to abuse them are wishing they have a mother like Georgia to protect them. Also, Ginny is so sheltered and naive that she doesn't know Kenny is the monster.
You're only seeing the good side of her. now let me point you out her bad side. 1) She is Immature, she is a grown ass woman who should know how to act Ex: When she threw all the food away when she could have just hid them 2) she doesn't allow her kids therapy, after all she has done to traumatised them and all the signs they showed they need therapy. It's one of the reasons why Ginny is struggling because she needs therapy 3)Georgia never disciplines her kids, Why do u think Ginny is so rude to her mom? Because she was never taught discipline. 4)She let's dangerous men into her life. The main example is Kenny and gill. Which puts her kids in danger 5) Georgia is a bad influence, She taught her kids to always run away from her problems which Is not good and etc which makes Ginny not want to be like georgia but she is slowly becoming like her. Georgia is definitely not someone who u would want as a mom. People are only willing to see the glamourous side of her being some sort of savior and praise her every time but if u actually had a mother like her then u would be extremely depressed.
ginny isn't naive for feeling bad about kenny's death. im not saying kenny didn't deserve it but instead of leaving kenny georgia immediately killed him and then constantly put the weight of it on ginny by saying "i did this for you" to justify it as if ginny SHOULD be happy kenny's dead and should even be thankful for it (which is giving her no room to feel any other emotions). like it's messed up that y'all are upset that a sophomore doesn't like killing
Everyone criticizes Ginny, but as a teenager hiding a m*rder your mother committed is really heavy stuff, besides, we are all kinds of brats as teenagers. Plus the pen was really good in my opinion That being said my opinion isn't really valid as I haven't watched the show, just a bunch of shorts. Empathy comes easier to spectators who can ignore their own shortcomings because they aren't a part of the story, than to characters who get a story they don't fully understand from another person's tongue
Her words are bitter but true. But just because something is true it is not the right thing. The pain in Georgia's eyes feels so wrong. If anyone else had said those words it would be like she deserves it. But those words coming from her daughter breaks my heart.
Georgia needed to hear it. But all she heard was monster Ginny has been trying to talk to her mom but georgia just ignores her this was Ginny only chance to let it out
Georgia needed it to hear it tho. Her violent past is coming back to haunt her in the form of hurting her children and she was witnessing it in real time.
I know Georgia gave everything for Ginny to have a good life, but you guys clearly missed the point of this poem. I still think it’s horrible that Ginny called Georgia a monster, but she feels like she is no longer innocent because she knows too much, probably because Georgia treats her like a best friend rather than a daughter.
Ginny told her therapist Georgia hides a lot from her. Also, the PI told her about Kenny. She didn't confront her mother until she told Marcus. After her mother explained why she did that to Kenny, she still couldn't understand because she has never been through anything traumatic in her life. Ginny is one naive teenager.
But she was the one who wanted to know she was always shouting that her mother didn't tell her anything nd when she did tell her she behaved exactly like a privileged brat. I'm not talking bout the part where Ginny felt bad for the deaths of those ppl I'm talking bout the part where treated her mother like shit even after seeing how much shit her mother had went through. She was like ok yeah u did that for me now let go back to my pity party
she was the one throwing tantrums of all what georgia's been hiding. there is a reason her mother hid all of this from her and now when she finally knows she's going to cry about not being innocent anymore? please. georgia has done TOO much for her to be called a monster.
I don’t care what anyone says this is the worst thing ginny has done. As a parent this is probably one of the most heartbreaking scene for Georgia. To hear your own child who’ve you’ve done EVERYTHING for say this about you. The acting from Georgia was amazing in this scene Also, I agree that Ginny is allowed to be mad. Poetry was away for her to release that frustration she has with her mom. But the pain in Georgia eyes was so heart breaking.
Ginny allowed to make this poem, she allowed to have these feelings, buh Georgia has done everything for her. Ginny had dealt with a lot in her past. Yet to call out her mother like that when you could have stopped, like the poem was very harsh. Georgia was never really punished Ginny and allowed Ginny to get away with things like her bf sneaking in her room. Ginny allowed to be mad at Georgia for some things buh I do feel like this poem is to harsh. Amazing poem.
Mmmm.. yeah lets not act like Georgia didnt dress as scarlett o hara for halloween while raising a half black child. She's insensitive and dreadful. Also Ginny's poem was going wayy too easy on Georgia, I would've said much worse to her psychotic ass
@@malyka6639 Ok yea Scarlett o hara was bad buh you knw Georgia isn't really racist, she defended Ginny every time their was racist people toward Ginny, buh Georgia only killed Kenny, becuase he was innapropatly toward Ginny. The other man she killed was abusive. The only thing she did wrong to kill was Tom. There was no need for her. Thats my only problem with her killing. Sure Georgia needs to understand Ginny, buh so does Ginny.
The thing is tho, ginny never rlly got to talk to Georgia like that, tell her how she rlly felt abt her, and this was her only chance. If ginny hadn't said it there, it would've just built up and up for awhile till it got worse and all just came out in a fight or smthn. Georgia had to hear what Ginny was feeling.
@@lillymascaro1398 I didn't say she was racist, I said she was insensitive. Those are two different things, and just because she goes out of her way to "protect" ginny doesn't change that fact.
girl as her mother that’s georgias job. Georgia shouldn’t be praised for doing her job especially when ginny could’ve had much better life had she stayed with her grandparents instead of having to live through poverty and have no stability.
If you hate Ginny, congratulations you missed the point of the entire show! Everyone views the show from Georgia’s past and perspective, but never Ginny’s. Virginia Miller was born to two teen parents and has never known a moment of stability. Her dad came and went and her mom’s boyfriends came and went. Georgia even had abusive men around (notably Gil. No matter how hard Georgia tried to hide it from Ginny, children always know..) At the slightest bit of trouble, Georgia moved them around state to state, so Ginny never had any real place to call home. She didn’t even have time to make friends. Not to mention, her parents had an on and off relationship throughout her childhood. Every time she hopes her parents would get back together and be a family, they break up again. Ginny knows her mother loves her, but she is NOT a stable person. S1 has proven that Ginny feels she cannot trust her mother to be a safe person when she needs it. Why do you think she self harms?? This poem is about Ginny’s pain, and you all are garbage for invalidating it.
But it's not fair she called her mom a monster infront of all those people. And she was complaining about her mom dressing u in a Halloween costume that was racist apparently, when people dress up as evil things all the time
@@hyunlivvGeorgia has told ginny alot of times about the murder and they have a bonding moment and shit but next thing you ginny keeps repeating the cycle of just going back to hating her mother all over again it's kinda annoying.
@@fl0ransIts how trauma works. I keep telling myself I forgive my dad but then I keep hating him again no matter how okay I think it is again. Its a long process and forgiveness is the hardest step.
I feel like everyone forgets that yes Georgia may do anything for her kids but at the end of the day she is a murderer. Kenny was a horrible man but she could have just left him or run away but no she just ‘had to’ murder him. No wonder Ginny feels all this rage it must be difficult knowing she’s the reason her mom killed Kenny
Would you leave a man to go and do that to another woman's child? What would've happened if she hadn't killed Kenny, Ginny would've probably been more depressed than she was now, Georgia was just saving her from the nightmares she had to endure in her past
What if Georgia hadn't killed Kenny? They would have still been in danger, and all that Georgia's trying to do is protect Ginny, but Ginny doesn't see that. It's always about Ginny, she always makes everything about herself, when it shouldn't be always about her.
If Kenny was still alive then he’d probably do that to another woman’s daughter. No mom would tolerate their daughter being touched like that so she did what she thought was best to keep Ginny safe and prevent it from happening again
I don’t understand why everyone is so pissed off at Ginny like ya. Her mom did things for her. She literally killed someone for her. And yes I’m georgias head she was trying to protect her but Ginny was a kid. And she had to protect her mom from a crime that she didn’t even ask for. For something that she didn’t expect. You have to understand that Ginny grew up with her mother. Someone she knows to be gentle and caring and sweet. Like a mother would be. But then to wake up one day and realize she killed someone ? She’s feel like her mothers a stranger. Someone she didn’t know and yes she’s struggling to understand the reason but neither Ginny nor Georgia is in the right or wrong here. They are people. And sometimes things aren’t so black and white. Reality lies in the grey and for you to completely ignore Ginny’s or georgias feelings in this situation is utter stupidity.
@@heyangel28 no I mean it's not about direction , to anyone The point is about how the poem was made It's like I'm so sad and my mom is a monster , but ya it would've sounded better on a different topic
She's not "brave" She's a horrible person. Georgia did SO MUCH FOR her, and ginny just whines about it? She's a brat, yeah she also faced shit, but like she has to step out of her protagonist zone, she thinks that oh everything revolves around her because what? She's a woman of color? She just wants mommy issues that's it.
This sort of thing to say is consistent with Ginny's characterization but that does not make it right. One thing is to expose your feelings and one very different is proclaiming your mother is a monster in front of people that knows her. Yes, mothers can be horrible but Georgia is way more nuanced
Season 3 would be incredible i’ve rewatched this season 2 times now it’s one of my favourite shows it’s just so good. They could possibly do Simone as Georgia’s lawyer which i would love to see.
Ginny has the right to have feelings you know 💀 Her mother killed her ex father-in-law and has done a lot of other illegal things too. Georgia is a murderer, obviously Ginny sees an issue with that wtf
I’m glad what they did this season with Ginny because she got so much undeserved hate, but they never tried to understand her. This scene and the therapy scene is a perfect example of what she feels.
That doesn't change the fact she's horrible at her mother, yes Georgia might be a bad person, but she still tried to be a good mother at Ginny and all she received was hatred and shit. Yes the second season gives us a better understanding about Ginny and how she feels inside, and even some character development, but still, she's a complete idiot
Undeserved hate? She literally manipulates the people closest to her for her own benefits, sure she didn't have the best upbringing. But Georgia raised her with nothing but love and compassion, not only that but continues to make sacrifices for her now that she's older. But she wants so badly to be that injured deer and victimizes herself every chance she gets, I'm sorry but Ginny deserves everything she gives out to others.
So I don't support Georgia, Ginny has flaws but Georgia murdered people and constantly lied to others all in the name of "protecting" her kids, but murdering people is not protection. Also part of the reason she murdered kenny was for his money.
I feel like everyone who hated on Ginny's speech reacted much like Georgia and only cared about the words written, not the meaning behind them. Granted, I do agree being called a sin and a monster by your own daughter, who you fought so hard to raise is very painful, and understand why Georgia reacted the way she did, especially knowing her past. And Ginny's not a saint either, we all know that much. But the past doesn't define who you are, so whatever Georgia went through, does not excuse any of her current actions. Ginny is 100% in the right to be hurt by Georgia, and for a teenager who looked up and admired her mom for as long as she did, to find out her hero did the cruel things she did is a massive burden, for sure. Plus, I think it's an amazing show of strong character for Ginny. That she doesn't let her love for her mother blind her to the truth, and isn't scared to defy her. The entire point is that this poem isn't about Georgia, but Ginny. Ginny's feelings. Ginny's words. Her screams, her shouts and her stomps, metaphorically speaking. For once, the spotlight isn't on her mom and Ginny, however vaguely, can speak about her feelings publially, pouring her heart out to a welcoming audience. Both characters are equally great as they are terrible (then again, Ginny's worst action being cheating on her boyfriend and Georgia's being literal murder and embezzlement says a lot more about what's considered "evil" nowadays, like no hate, just it's giving delulu yk what I'm saying? 💀) and that's what makes them so genuine and human. It's supposed to make us both love and hate them, but somehow, it makes the fans hold Ginny more accountable and Georgia less? Sorry for the essay. :(
She could've stopped reading at a certain point to save face, but no. She continued to humiliate her own mother who's done nothing but sacrifice her entire youth to her, and make it seem as though she was anything but understanding and loving. I absolutely loathe Ginny with a passion, but I understand it's just a character. Whoever the writer is did an AMAZING job making her very unlikeable
She's not humiliating anyone. She's voicing her feelings that aren't ever heard by Georgia. When Ginny told Georgia she burns herself (or she got outed about it?? I'm not sure I don't remember that clearly) she literally made it about herself. Georgia makes EVERYTHING about herself.
@@winterrrrrrr The thing is, she did not need to voice out her feelings in front of a whole group of audience at her mother's expense. That's just self-centred and disrespectful.
@@user-lt2gk4fx7f literally who else do you want her to voice them to? if she says it to georgia shes ungrateful and a brat. if she says it to her boyfriend shes telling other people too much. can yall make up your mind
@@winterrrrrrr telling a boyfriend whom I've heard she cheated on, is one thing. Telling a bunch of strangers at a place you WORK is a different story, not only strangers/guests, but also her employers and co-workers got to hear her "venting" as well. People shouldn't expect teenagers to be naturally empathetic & sensitive to others - they can't when their cognitive and emotional development keeps exploding every minute. Like wee tornadoes of uncontrolled 2 year olds in a teen body. That said, I'm so frikken glad I don't have kids, this phase in their lives would destroy me.
I used to be a teenager. I was never like this. I never had outburst of emotions. Blaming everything on my parents when things went bad. Teenagers can think well too and they're at the age where they should be held accountable for their choices
@@abthurd not all especially when you can see your parents messing up and you can't say anything about it. And not every Teenager's goes through the same things to say that. they are still learning how to communicate their emotions. and if they think you don't care they will act out especially if they gone through alot And no one listening to them
You can expect more from a teenager. By then, they have a set of moral codes and ethics. They are NOT children anymore and their actions have consequences. Neither I nor my siblings would ever do this to our parents - even when one of them kind if deserve it. None of my friends would do this to their parents - and half of them have beyond complicated relationships with them. This is not a phase or teenage rebellion, or at least not an acceptable one. And it’s only because Georgia loves her kids so much that not a damn hand was raised.
@@jadaandino4691 expectation does not negate choice. I was stressing that other people should not be placing their own personal expectations and judgement on what empathy & compassion are - which are culturally subjective and NOT objective assessments of an emotional state - on top of a teenagers already chaotic & judgemental life. I didn't negate choice in this matter though. A teen could have all the incentives to cede to the psychological warfare happening inside them but it's the choice to do so that changes things. In this context, I wasn't excusing G's behaviour but understanding why she was behaving the way she was. Considering that Georgia hasn't made Ginny accountable for anything in her life at present - e.g no true repercussions for shoplifting, talking her way out of Ginny getting punished for anything - Ginny has no foundational basis from where she has learnt repercussions in a safe, nonjudgmental manner i.e her mother's expectations of behaviour have been almost nonexistent. With no basis, how does one expect Ginny to learn but the really really hard way of seeing how inflicting pain to a loved one does? This is a painful lesson for both to learn.
I thought this poem was all bout Georgia at first, but really it was about what Ginny’s been struggling with although I really don’t think the last phrase had anything to do it, hopefully.
I’m not saying that ginny calling georgia a monster wasn’t bad. But do think about it a way that while georgia did do everything to protect her kids and while that is totally understandable ginny does get to have her own feelings. You all in the comments are so missunderstanding. The point is that none are actually in the wrong because while georgia only wanted to protect her children it also hurt them in a way. Not saying she shouldnt have done that, but all the moving and lying and everything that happend did have inpact on them(mostly ginny cause she’s older). Ginny was just in a bad place and I feel like as much as she didn’t have to call georgia a monster, she did have feelings she needed to get out. She has her own feelings. It’s not like she’ll just feel happy that georgia offed someone even if it was for protection. After all, she is still a kid.
those comments are giving me a headache. everyone saying "i WISH i had a mother like georgia" is seriously concerning. not only is she a murderer, but she constantly puts the weight of her actions on ginny. ginny KNOWS that georgia did it to protect her, but she never asked to bear the burden of murder. georgia is making her responsible for her actions and it is not fair. i feel like the scene where georgia is about to set up ginny's teacher and tells ginny "i would anything for you" and ginny answers "that's horrible to put this on me" is also very relevant. knowing georgia took someone's life and was ready to ruin her teacher's life FOR GINNY is actually making her guilty and powerless. moreover ginny tried SEVERAL TIMES to mention serious topics with georgia and she's almost never met with answers and understanding. georgia always switches subjects back to light-hearted topics and completely disregards ginny's feelings. im not sure if you all would actually like a mother who's a dismissive criminal or if you just never watched the show and simply judge based on shorts...
some of you including georgia don't understand that the poem was a literal cry for help. the only part georgia noticed is when she called her a monster, she is a great mom but while the past is slowly "eating,, her she pushed away her daughter and her problems. "scrub and scrub that damn spot out but you cant wash off a tattoo", by my guessing, she meant that no matter how hard you try to feel better you just can't. (or something else), georgia COULD understand man. but she didn't because she makes things about herself and her past most of the time and ginny did do some messed up shit in her life and to her mom but she's a typical teenager and she goes through her own shit too which is completely understandable + in S2 she had a huge character development which is great and makes things less complicated for people that care to understand her character, georgia did get the positive recognition in the show so it's time ginny gets that part for a while, she deserves it.
It’s what happens when you cry wolf, Ginny has had this attitude since day one, it’s not a bad day anymore, that’s her character and her character sucks
This poem's intensity increases every time I see this video. Oh God ginny is like river that's crushing it's dam's wall while reading poem😯 And Georgia's expression while hearing that peom is like she's swallowing pain, tears and she's getting choked on her own breath, while it's poisoning her slowly 😭
Ginny is a bad person but that doesn’t mean that Georgia’s not a bad mother. Georgia needed to hear it, Ginny has tried to tell Georgia what she felt but Georgia kept ignoring her.
Off topic, I havnt watched the show yet, just clips, but seeing ginny, a girl who has natural kinky curly hair, black/mixed, I apologize in advance, bc I don't know if she's mixed or black, or Hispanic... But my point, it's nice to see a female character with the type of skin color that I have (I'm probably mixed, I just don't know of what, thanks to not knowing my birth dad), and hair type too, mines just darker brown... After I saw ginny, for the first time in my life, I finally, actually accepted my curls and now where my hair down more, and not in a ponytail or bun. I don't know, I know it's random, but it meant a lot to me, finally seeing a character like me, and I finally felt seen... I didn't feel alone... Maybe im overreacting... But ya.. I just wanted to tell someone how I felt...
The only part I got from Ginny that was through was the fact that she is of an different color from her mom so her mom does not understand everything she goes through. But when she called her mom an monster that was not cool, her mother fought to damn hard to keep her safe as well as to ensure she is happy in the best way she bows, she ensured she did not go through the same hardship as she went through in life she never waited for her to complain she was observant and she took action, that was a strong woman and maybe she made a few mistakes but she is only human we are aloud to make mistakes I think Ginny should learn the hard way of how the world will change your every prospects of like how it will turn you into the monster you despise, that words really hurt her mom and I hope she really understands and reflects on them Plus am still waiting on the next season last season did not end well with me hurry the hell up Netflix
I really understand Ginny, and some people say that she is a teenage and it's difficult for her to accept what Georgia did or keep doing, but this was to much for Georgia, even unfair, if Georgia lose the custody of her children (when she was a teenager)then Ginny would be mad because of that, she would say that she did not care about them and other popular phrases for that case, so....unfair for Georgia, she really fight for her children
To be fair, ginny looked like she wanted to cry the minute georgia came in. She never wanted her to hear that poem and obviously it was written before they made up
@@YanAsims Mhm. Georgia just continued to make it abt herself, not actually listening to ginny and acknowledging how much pain she was in till she found out abt the self harming. I dont rlly like how ppl attacked ginny for this when she was literally just saying how she felt. Ginnys trauma is constantly getting invalidated i swear smh
Georgia is the best mother , she would jump of a cliff for her kids, i dont understand why ginny is so spolied and a brat, wow, i literally cried when i saw georgia
I feel like people that don't like Ginny understand what REAL trauma is or not having good parents. Ginnys problems are valid ofc. Georgia killed someone and made mistakes. But instead of trying to understand why her mom is the way she is. She just attacks and internalizes things instead of having good communication. Georgia isn't perfect, no parent is. But she's a hell of a mom. So while this poem was good. I feel for Georgia, cuz shes a lot like me and others that went through real shit but tries their best with all they know. Ginny simply takes on dumb things then lashes out when they go bad. Instead of trying to better her mental health and her relationship with family.
This scene broke me. Georgia was doing so much for Ginny, just to hear her true opinion of her was that she burdens her, and is a horrid being, and a murderer, and nothing more to her. But on the other hand as a person who self harmed herself I know the pent up emotions, pent up energy that u have and the desire to get them out but not being able to because Ur trying to stop hurting yourself. She was broken, and didn't want to break her mother, but did because she'd been needing a release... I cried after this scene coz besides d race difference I relate completely to this character...
I didn't get ginny pov as much as Georgia's... Ginny had her struggles of constantly moving around, not being able to settle in one place, not being able to make friends and so on... It lead to self harming, having a hard time making the correct decision. Before, All she provided with was a small part of Georgia's past. As a teen knowing that her mom killed her stepfather is for sure triggering information for her. It's not something small, Georgia did drop a bomb at once, so it might be overwhelming for her. Although her words and actions were hurtful and annoying (sometimes) Think about it people might say something which we may not mean to say or the choice of words might go wrong. And at some point, we realise it and we learn from the past to become a better person. And it was shown as the episode progressed to the end. Georgia was a teen back then when she had ginny, and on top of that she was struggling in all ways keep her daughter and her alive. She wasn't financial stable neither mentally. Obviously her life was unguided without affection from her parent, growing up with stepfather's sexual abuse. She would definitely tries to make ginny's life better in every way possible even if it cost her life, she was ready. Her methods of protections weren't through right ways, obviously not murder. But she was mentally unstable with lots of things happening around her.She might've been in an overwhelmed phase to act like so. She learned to use weapons in order to protect herself( you will definitely get it)... Again, later on when she came to know that all along her mother knew about her stepdad's action and chosen keep it silent. How betrayed and helpless might have Georgia felt... And again, she was never free from all this... Always being caution and aware like she said in order to keep a step in advance, if she was an emotionless idiotic person like people says ( she was a bad mother not caring about her daughter) then half of what ginny is having wouldn't be there. when last she thought she was going to have something it all got ruined. the last murder was unnecessary even though she did it on sympathy, she was in no place to kill him. It probably might not make sense to everyone but it's just my opinion. (sorry for my poor English!)
I'm so happy Ginny got to do this. A lot of the fandom is full of people that shouldn't be parents. Hating on Ginny and worshiping Georgia. Y'all have no critical thinking skills.
I agree like I love Georgia but I hate how some Georgia fans make georgia become this saint and hate on Ginny… they are both really well written characters and it’s okay to love them both. And I think Ginny improved a lot this season character wise.
@@zoc.6922 How? She is referring to Scarlett O'Hara and racism, naturally this is tied to race. There are multiple ways to interpret the poem but this one makes the most sense since it's already hinted.
i had to stop watching this the first time i watched it and i seriously have never had to do that while watching something and trust me i watch a lot. I feel ginny in this scene on a level i cant even begin to explain. i want to thank the writers for going out of their way to truly depict depression, Its not pretty so all the people villanizing ginny can fuck right off. I'm sorry peoples mental illness is hard for you to witness but imagine living with it. remember this the next time you say you are an ally for mental illness, you might be but when the going gets tough it disappears, that's not real allyship
As someone who didn't have the privilege of having a mother over their head as a child, I really despise this character, regardless of what she knows or doesn't
netflix is real good at their job bc this show made me so mad 😭i hated ginny. she constantly calls georgia out. she’s killed for ginny and would do it again. i’d also kill, to have a mother like georgia. this show made me SOOO mad
Ok the poem is good but when ginny says those things when she herself doesn’t know everything her mother has been through and is going through is crazy and painful
Certain people are saying Ginny is allowed to feel how she wants which agree but to a certain point especially when it came to her personal life and feelings. But at some point we also have to draw the line and stop playing the blame game. As child you shouldn’t have to juggle some of your parents problems but at the same time when Georgia was trying to be just her mother and keep her shelter from HER personal background Ginny still took it upon herself to dig deeper into her moms past. Georgia herself told Ginny to stop because the skeletons in her closet wasn’t nice. Ginny brought a lot of stuff on herself when it came to having “trauma” from her MOTHER and blamed Georgia. Ginny used Georgia as an excuse in a lot of her problems SOME she created herself. Ginny was an asshole not just to her mother but also to her friends. Even when SHE was in the wrong somehow she still made it about herself instead of taking accountability at times Ginny was a selfish individual.
I can understand why Ginny feel this and everything but just one thing which i didn't like is calling her mom monster infront of everyone and especially when her mom was right there
her top was most definitely chosen on purpose. showing the black and white, the ying and yang, the good and bad coexisting inside ginny. And probably also how she is caught between black and white people, belonging to neither of them and struggling with being a woman of color which her white mom could never understand. Or maybe I'm just reading way too much into it ahaha
Nah I felt like there's was a lot of symbolism is when it comes to the colors of the characters for example max wearing bright color or ginny wearing dark colors.
no, you're catching onto something for sure
its ginnopulus and giorgio bro, its not that deep.
@@kristenmckinney3771 she was not at all an 'amazing mom'

Toni is a great actress. She used to do stand-up when at school and she was too good HAHA i was like 'nah, why is she pretending to be a cactus right now. She's too good' I keep watching her in this and i'm so excited for her future work
I didn’t get the poem except the mom part which was way off and she is the monster not her mom
Georgia did everything to keep her children safe and to keep their custody she literally take bullets for her kids . I don't think she's a monster at all loved her character i wish i had mother like her we don't understand the feelings of our parents until the day we become one 🥺🥺🥺
You can say the same for Georgia. How many times has Georgia tried to deny Ginny’s experiences especially as a black teenage girl? It’s a lot

Yeah but Georgia didn't deserve this
Am I too old to hide under the bed?
I'm stuck in a storm
But the storm's in my head
All I see is lightning
All I hear is thunder
Just one boom coming one after the other I once was blind, but now I see
The blindfolds folds have unfolded from me
But try as I might to close my eyes
And shut them tight and go back to black To not knowing, to trust
Because now that I know I know what I must do for you
What you've made me be
And I'd give anything to wash it away
Scrub and scrub that damn spot out
But you can't wash off a tattoo
Because now, you see, I'm culpable too
I gnash and gnarl and gnaw until I'm raw
My vocal cords vibrating
With vicious and vital truths
That I need to speak
That you need to hear
My tongue undulating
With the undue burden of silence
But the sound chokes back into my throat
A hard swollen lump I swallow down
They say mother knows best
But what if there are things Mother doesn't know?
Like if she can braid your hair
But still stans Scarlett O'Hara
You always say I am your reflection
But I can't hide behind your smile
And from where I'm standing
We're on opposite sides of mirrored glass
Me and you against the world?
But the world is out to get me
In ways you can never know or feel
So how can you know it's real?
I am sick of suffering in silence
Today, I will stomp and scream and shout
Until every word inside of me is out
Just by knowing, by seeing
That was my agreeing
My hands wet, once clean
Dirty with sins I don't mean
Words I didn't say, dragons I didn't slay
I inherit the sin
And I become the monster
That I was born from

@@19Rena96 preach!!
Did you even watch season 2?
@@Sofia-yy8ei Yes. We are critical thinkers when we watch shows so your opinions will be different from our facts.
You're only seeing the good side of her. now let me point you out her bad side.
1) She is Immature, she is a grown ass woman who should know how to act
Ex: When she threw all the food away when she could have just hid them
2) she doesn't allow her kids therapy, after all she has done to traumatised them and all the signs they showed they need therapy.
It's one of the reasons why Ginny is struggling because she needs therapy
3)Georgia never disciplines her kids, Why do u think Ginny is so rude to her mom? Because she was never taught discipline.
4)She let's dangerous men into her life. The main example is Kenny and gill.
Which puts her kids in danger
5) Georgia is a bad influence, She taught her kids to always run away from her problems which Is not good and etc which makes Ginny not want to be like georgia but she is slowly becoming like her.
Georgia is definitely not someone who u would want as a mom. People are only willing to see the glamourous side of her being some sort of savior and praise her every time but if u actually had a mother like her then u would be extremely depressed.
@@Gamingworld-xf6mi this!! But people want to stay blind and deny Georgia's flaws so bad😐
ginny isn't naive for feeling bad about kenny's death. im not saying kenny didn't deserve it but instead of leaving kenny georgia immediately killed him and then constantly put the weight of it on ginny by saying "i did this for you" to justify it as if ginny SHOULD be happy kenny's dead and should even be thankful for it (which is giving her no room to feel any other emotions). like it's messed up that y'all are upset that a sophomore doesn't like killing
Everyone criticizes Ginny, but as a teenager hiding a m*rder your mother committed is really heavy stuff, besides, we are all kinds of brats as teenagers. Plus the pen was really good in my opinion
That being said my opinion isn't really valid as I haven't watched the show, just a bunch of shorts.
Empathy comes easier to spectators who can ignore their own shortcomings because they aren't a part of the story, than to characters who get a story they don't fully understand from another person's tongue

I might not like Ginny but I love this poem it’s so heartfelt

I don’t care what anyone says this is the worst thing ginny has done. As a parent this is probably one of the most heartbreaking scene for Georgia. To hear your own child who’ve you’ve done EVERYTHING for say this about you. The acting from Georgia was amazing in this scene
Also, I agree that Ginny is allowed to be mad. Poetry was away for her to release that frustration she has with her mom. But the pain in Georgia eyes was so heart breaking.

girl as her mother that’s georgias job.

@@yashvikachaudhary9327if Georgia was caught you wouldn't have supported her. It was sheer luck

Joe is the only one that didn’t clap

When I heard this poem I started crying because I can relate to it so much….
Moments like these are good when they don't put crappy remixes in every scene.
Lucky you
The only part I got from Ginny that was through was the fact that she is of an different color from her mom so her mom does not understand everything she goes through.
But when she called her mom an monster that was not cool, her mother fought to damn hard to keep her safe as well as to ensure she is happy in the best way she bows, she ensured she did not go through the same hardship as she went through in life she never waited for her to complain she was observant and she took action, that was a strong woman and maybe she made a few mistakes but she is only human we are aloud to make mistakes I think Ginny should learn the hard way of how the world will change your every prospects of like how it will turn you into the monster you despise, that words really hurt her mom and I hope she really understands and reflects on them
Plus am still waiting on the next season last season did not end well with me hurry the hell up Netflix
I really understand Ginny, and some people say that she is a teenage and it's difficult for her to accept what Georgia did or keep doing, but this was to much for Georgia, even unfair, if Georgia lose the custody of her children (when she was a teenager)then Ginny would be mad because of that, she would say that she did not care about them and other popular phrases for that case, so....unfair for Georgia, she really fight for her children
wow... just wow...
My mother would kill me if I did this
She would kill you for expressing yourself and wanting to have your voice heard? Yikes..
@@YanAsims yeah she would murder me on the spot for someone who's very emotional Gorgia handled this very well
@@randomgeekcrapidk… because she clearly didn’t understand the point of the poem as she continued to shame ginny for thenpiem
2:49 Joe also not applauding means a lot here 🥲🥲
I think this poem is SO BEAUTIFUL?! I need to know the poet ya’ll please 🙏
Georgia is the best mother , she would jump of a cliff for her kids, i dont understand why ginny is so spolied and a brat, wow, i literally cried when i saw georgia
To. Everyone that’s hating Ginny she is a teenager she couldn’t face everything ❤
whats that background sound when everyone is clapping and Georgia is crying ?
Half of this season was all about Ginny whining and overreacting. I can't stand this character 😭 .I skipped many scenes because of her
shut up omggg
Whining and overreacting orrr are you just not understanding what she’s saying at all?
@@YanAsims she is just weak 🤣🤣.maybe you can relate to her
How is she overreacting her mom legit murdered someone like how is that even relatable
@@Mohamood_jama you thought you ate that so hard💀
I love Ginny character. Idk what yall talking abt
I love it
What episode is this?
It's muted
I never understood Ginny and actually kind of hated her until this scene. Now I kind of understand, even if I still don't fully agree.
I LOVE GEORGIA
These things tend to be really cringy so going into this i was scared that it would but it totally wasn't
Which episod is this?
@@the.earthlyaquarius you just proved my point about having no critical thinking skills 😂
@@zoc.6922 How? She is referring to Scarlett O'Hara and racism, naturally this is tied to race. There are multiple ways to interpret the poem but this one makes the most sense since it's already hinted.
@@the.earthlyaquarius no she never did… tf
@@the.earthlyaquarius she called her mum a monster coz she murdered someone
She is an inspiration, for me im gonna recite a poem tmrw🥹💗
Good for you❤❤ hope it goes well
Slam poetry conventions are a plague but the acting here, underneath the usual slam poetry reading bullshit was superb.
Ginny thought she ate
She did
Bro this is so awkward.
I felt the second hand embarrassment not Gonna lie , this is such a touchy topic
Which season and episode?
Season 2 ep 5
i had to stop watching this the first time i watched it and i seriously have never had to do that while watching something and trust me i watch a lot.
This!!
I love this, mentally Health isn't pretty and this show, shows it all
As someone who didn't have the privilege of having a mother over their head as a child, I really despise this character, regardless of what she knows or doesn't
What episode is this
Comment section kids backing ginny and parents feeling georgias pain.
Geeze why does she SCREAMS out her poem?? I had the lower the volume! 😂
It’s called passion bitch 🙄
netflix is real good at their job bc this show made me so mad 😭i hated ginny. she constantly calls georgia out. she’s killed for ginny and would do it again. i’d also kill, to have a mother like georgia. this show made me SOOO mad
Is there a name for this certain type of poem/delivery?
Ok the poem is good but when ginny says those things when she herself doesn’t know everything her mother has been through and is going through is crazy and painful
Episode?
Season 2 ap 5 i think
I can understand why Ginny feel this and everything but just one thing which i didn't like is calling her mom monster infront of everyone and especially when her mom was right there
"And I become the monster that I was born from." Ginny seriously? Come on girl!
Wat episode???
"And i become the Monster i was born from" Damnnn😢😭
