  • Learning the Pekiti Tirsia Kali Abecedario or Abakada is like learning your alphabets. Any Pekiti school you go to in the world will use the same terminology to describe the same angles. Angle 8 will be a reverse thrust, angle 5 will be a low thrust etc etc.
Here Tuhon Aditya takes you through the rarely seen Double Stick Abecedario.

0:24 Introduction to Single Stick Abecedario

First thank you for showing this. However, not sure i see the benefit of abecedario with double espada. Mainly single espanda with sinwali before each side. Other than #11 the use of double espanda does not seem useful/practical. The purpose of abcedario are the target areas so not sure what this double espanda abecedario adds.

I've thought about this comment all day. While I mostly agree with you I also think as a teacher my job isn't to filter the art based on my biases.
My job is to teach the art in the entirety as I've been lucky enough to recieve it. Along with that i can give my personal thoughts/biases/give context to what I'm teaching but that is very different to excluding things from the art.
The reality is that different parts of the art connect with different people. Maybe I might feel that the Double Stick Abecedario doesn't really add much to the art but there maybe someone else who studied this set and gained some profound insight from it.
Also the purpose of the Abecedario is not just to teach target areas. Among many other things it's to also teach how to hit these target areas. It's the first set of 12 sets of similar attacks that form the 144 attacks. Each set teaches us a different way of attacking these targets with the stick.
In my opinion the Double Stick version of it adds a different perspective to the set.

@@lighthavenindia thank you for your perspective. I wonder if there is a different double espada version out there. i agree it’s still has value to show so I appreciate that.
