Hello, thank you for the video. If I am primarily trying to simulate a telescopic baton, the usual measurement for length of the stick according to an extended arm changes for me to what is the longest baton I can realistically carry. What is the proper training ratio with 1. stick measured according to the baton and 2. variations of longer and shorter sticks? - I want to get familiar enough with the weapon I actually carry, but not complacent so that any improvized alternative would need long readjustment. I can just change where I grip the stick, so the question is how much time should I spend on this or that grip configuration?
I'm not sure I fully understand the question. But i think 2 or 3 finger widths is a good measurement for most weapons that could come under the category of a stick. Essentially you need enough to be able to hook or hit with the Punyo. I will also end with this though. Recently GT has started holding the stick with very very little Punyo and his thumb up on the stick. This is so he has more control. I'm not the biggest fan of this configuration though as I've broken my thumb trying this in a stick fight.
@@lighthavenindia thank your for the advice, I will hold onto the standard grip as you say. I understand the ideal length of the Punyo and the reasons for it. My question was just this: should I practice with sticks of different lengths? And if yes, how much time out of the entire training session should be given to each length? I want to train primarily with stick length measured according to the baton I carry - roughly 53cm/21 inches, so how much over and under should I train? eg. 40 cm as the smallest stick I train with and 70cm the longest. What would you recommend? Thank you.
are you sure that it is really 3 fingers? not 3.5? 😂😂 (Great video Aditya! please keep them coming! ❤)
Hahaha whatever works brother 😂 And thank you as usual for the support!

Best sword
“Maximum damage, in the least amount of time” was what I trained for since starting martial arts 40 years ago. I still apply that principle today. I found that footwork from several different arts(boxing, fencing,JKD, aikijujitsu) help me bridge the gap, and stay in/ maintain proper distance to apply techniques against stiff, retreating, or otherwise uncooperative opponents. Great info, topic, and answer as usual Tuhon!
It's always great to see how different martial arts can complement one another! Thank you for your kind words 😊😊😊
Awesome Teaching ...Thank you Tuhon
Thank you sir 😊
I found this same issue in my sparring as kali works up close. I find addinga good mix of boxing will make your kali open hand a lot better. of course we can say that for almost any art.
I agree. For me i add Muay Thai and BJJ.
❤❤

if he is trying to grab or distract you with his empty hand first, do you still do the same technique?
Great video❤
Thank you Guro :)
Yes, but the problem is, in a country where people mostly wear coat, and fore arm are protected by tissue, i don't know if a knife well sharpened, would be able to cut through. I never tested an actual combat knife, so i would like return of experience. Thank you.
This is only one option. The idea behind it is that you have to monitor the weapon. Otherwise you might land a solid hit but also get stabbed. I can't speak to the effectiveness of a knife against thick coats because it depends on the knife and the coat.
Such a cutie
Adi looooking gooooooooood thats my coach everyone read this and weep
Hahaha thanks Kvahn
I get what u trying to convey, thank you for the video sir, Kali footwork helped me in cutting angles, which i am trying to mix it up with kickboxing.
Thank you for your question. I also use Kali footwork alot in sparring.
