    Great interview. My Three Sons was part of my childhood back when the shows were worth watching. Very few in more recent times come close. Enjoyed hearing all the little unknown tidbits of information. Thanks for the memories, Barry.

      me too ! such an old school sitcom that captured our era so well. The 😮cast was one of a kind with the iconic FRED MacMURRY portraying the laid back all knowing Father. I had no idea what happened to Barry Livingston. my grandmother worked in film editing at COLUMBIA and SCREEN GEMS before it was restructured

      @@ThatsClassicTV I had a heckuva time finding his book because it was not available in audio. So I had to read it in e-book. That’s OK, but I really prefer my memoirs in audio with the actor/author reading their book! Yes, a little spoiled here!

    • @ThatsClassicTV
      @ThatsClassicTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a shame. It would have been great with Barry reading it.I will just buy the soft cover then.

      @@ThatsClassicTV sorry, I did not see it on Audible when I went to read it. Yes, he would’ve done great reading his book! I read a lot of memoirs/biographies. It is pretty much a dealbreaker for me if the author does not read the audio. Hence the reason I actually passed up reading Leif Garrett’s book. He didn’t read it. As interested as I was, that really took away from the whole experience for me. So I will probably read it on e-book! I know, sounds really picky and spoiled! Lol

    I'm about the same age as Mr. Livingston. I remember during the initial run of the show, I had trouble with the Frawley/Demarest change as well as the Considine/Livingston change. The latter may have had more to do with the absence of Merideth MacRae than with Tim Considine. Anyway, I'm watching the show now and can see that Barry was an incredibly good actor, perhaps even the equal of Lisa Loring of the Addams Family. It's no wonder why the writers gave him so many of the best lines and made him the focus of so many of the stories.

"The Importance of Being Ernie," is that he once roomed with actor Steve Railsback, perhaps best known for playing Charles Manson in the made-for-TV film, "Helter Skelter." So, Ernie Douglas and Charles Manson were roommates. You can't make this stuff up.

    I was on the set of a number of television shows back in the 70s several times and there was a show called. It is enough. And I saw Dick Van Patten, who wasn’t much of an actor, not very good looking at all, of course, but regarded himself as a star of the show. However, it was called eight is enough. It was really about all these kids. But I’m sure he didn’t see it that way. This guy threw fits. This guy stayed in histrailer and didn’t come out until everybody was ready. What a Primadonna that’s what I thought.

    I am surprised they made him go to school and learn math at 4 especially back in those days when a lot of kids didn’t even go to kindergarten and definitely not daycare. They just started formal education at 6 in the first grade. I went to a private kindergarten (there were no public kindergartens) but we didn’t study math or reading until we got in the first grade.

    Ozzie Nelson proved helpful in the early careers of both Stanley and Barry Livingston . It must have his experience with young Dave and Rick .

    I have to say this. Saw him at the Hollywood Autograph Show a few years ago and he was a jerk. There were only a few attendees to see him and he was pushing his book. If they didn't show any interest in buying his book then he ignored them. His brother Stanley was also there and seemed like a nice guy.

    About Fred MacMurray not thinking Ryan O'Neal was funny (watch What's Up Doc), with that dialogue, it must've seemed very difficult To be funny because there were no really big laughs in the series.

      Fred and Ryan were definitely also very different personalities.
