@@TepcoCycleRepair Could I ask which brembo front brake calipers you got? I watched your start-up video and I'm in the market for an upgrade over the original
@@switchback8 Sure, the entire front end is from a 2014 GSXR600. Brakes are awesome. Watch my build playlist to see how I did the bearings. It's a pretty easy swap and you can get stops that screw on to the lower tree instead of welding one on to the frame like I did.
Great video, I’m slowly restoring my GL500, I’m having some parts plated, am I able to just loosen off the little arm that connects to the adjuster, and pop it off? Thanks for your help mate.
Great video! I'm interested in a 1982 Gl500 silver wing, but want to know if they are too complicated to work on yourself? Are parts easy to source? Thanks in advance for your input.
There is a large group on FB that will help with anything needed. These bikes are not hard to work on but do have their small list of possible issues with age. Find a running clean one with no leaks and you should be good to go.
Thank you for this video, just got a gl500 and I have a lot I need to learn!
Thsnk you quick and clear
Fixing up an old 82' GL500 and thank you!
Awesome, enjoy!

@@TepcoCycleRepair Thanks!
Was unable to see how the drive shaft came out, is that self explanatory when doing this job?
You don't take it out, when you take the axle and spacer out, the brake plate will come out and the wheel just slides left off the drive splines.
@@TepcoCycleRepair ok cool thats what I was guessing thanks!
Do these drum brake need to be bleed? If you do where the bleed valve?
No, it's a mechanical drum brake, no bleeding required.
Since replacing the brake, it now makes a super high pitch squeak, suggestions?
Squeak is from vibration, pull the wheel and scuff up the drum surface.
The brake pads you took off look to be the same thickness and well in spec. Did you just replace them to make a video?
They were very very old so I replaced them just for maintenance.
when you do this job.. lube your rear splines too !
Great video but what about the chains
The CX and GL are shaft drive.
Mine has a chain
@@douglasmckay5161 What year bike is it and is it a CX or GL?
@@TepcoCycleRepair it's a cx
@@douglasmckay5161 CX500's in the US have shaft drives.
