    excellent video! great job with recording, audio, being clear and concise. I have a 1981 GL500 and will be replacing the clutch, and this video is exactly what i needed. thank you!

    Thanks for the great video. I followed your directions and replaced a frozen clutch on my Gl500 and my bike is back on the road! Thanks again!

    Guess I'm on the scope for the trick socket for the center hub bolt, as I'm not really digging chewing up that fastener no how. Great idea about swapping out the inner parts in sequence to save misplacing any of the metal rings. Thank you.

    What oil did you soak the rings in? My first bike needs the plates replaced and this really helped!

      Glad I could help, I used Shell Rotella T4.

      I forgot to ask as well. Where did you get the replacement plates? I’m having a hard time finding some for my 78 CX500. I don’t know if they’re the same as the ones you got but anything helps.

    How did you make your socket for the clutch or where can I get one? Great video. About to do my clutch when it gets delivered. Thanks

      I made it from an old clutch nut tool for another bike. You can find them for under $10 on ebay and Amazon just make sure it says it fits CX500 or GL.

      Bought 26mm socket and left 4 “leafs” 6mm wide. The rest of socket edge cut out with disk grinder😉

  • @Sebastian-zm2rw
    @Sebastian-zm2rw 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Center nut is actually 26 mm (not 24) socket You need to make a tool. BTW those 12mm nuts on clutch cable should be one on top and one beneath the mount, IMHO. Great video, thx😄!

    • @CaseyJonesNumber1
      @CaseyJonesNumber1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No, they should both be on top of the mount! The lower nut is the adjustment, the upper one is the locknut. So many people get it wrong by doing it how you suggest. Its quite clear in the Honda workshop manual.

    For some reason when I pull in the clutch it doesn’t come back out, what could I have done wrong ?

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It gets pushed back out from the clutch springs. Make sure the clutch actuator is put in correctly.

      @@TepcoCycleRepair so I don’t have a Torque wrench. So the bolts that go over the springs sit all the way down?

    • @babyfacecoslett4466
      @babyfacecoslett4466 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The actuator also Doesn’t have much compression but I don’t see anything wrong

    • @TepcoCycleRepair
      @TepcoCycleRepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@babyfacecoslett4466 Yes all the way down, don't over tighten.

      @@TepcoCycleRepair okay I did that right. It’s like that spring isn’t strong enough to pull the cable back down
