Awesome looking trails. For those downhill trails where you are slipping, low lock and 1st gear work really well. Just let the transmission do the work, no brakes. I have an M998 and it is awesome offroad.
I didn’t think about it that day. You are correct. I went back later (you’ll see that video) and did it again. And my brain went out the door and I locked it up and slid down like an idiot. But didn’t flip it or wreck so we will call it a win.
It is so backwards in my mind to apply brake while trying to throttle out of a hole. I suck at it. Usually think about it after I’m stuck! Seasons changing. Now those trails are muck and mud. Can’t wait to go back and try again.
@@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures yeah you're right about that. Please though for your safety budding and everyone else's never stand anywhere near that cable
That is a great question. Overall it rides well and the bucket seats are a big help. But a hard trail will make me sore. Going to 8 psi in the tires helps a lot.
It all depends on how modified the Jeep is. Box stock to box stock with 37" tires and16" ground clearance the Humvee comes out of the gate fighting. The Jeep with a lift kit, better axles/gears, and larger tires will compete with a Humvee all day - and do a way better job on the highway.
@@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures sorry, couple questions. Are you limited to only 45mph while driving in roads? Did you send in the sf 97 and bill of sale or…? Thx
@@DavidEAragon I bought mine from someone who had already processed the original paper work from the gov planet auction. I then worked with dirt legal to obtain and forward all the paperwork to process it. I also made the street modifications that were missing. I was then able to get insurance and the registration. It cost extra going through dirt legal but was worth it because they know what they are doing. The only limit on speed is the truck is slow. It will do 65 mph with a tail wind and down hill push! But no problem running 55-60 steady as needed except hills. If you get one go with a 6.5 and the four speed trans and you can run 70 mph plus. A turbo model would be a real plus.
Just a GoPro and an iPhone 13. I’m glad you enjoyed it. My goal is to give people especially Humvee people or those that might want to buy one an idea of what it is capable of doing and NOT doing in the real world. Let’s face it. They leak, rattle, smell bad, and ride rough. Oh and are slow and clumsy but off road I’ve found it to be amazing and like a trusted horse that you know how it is going to react at each change in the trail. I just wish we had more Humvee guys up here to trail together. I’m the only big fat truck and am outnumbered by far by the Jeep’s and Toyotas.
@@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures totally man! Wish I were there too, my truck needs a little off road, she’s been pampered delivering stuff on a military base (Fort Bragg) all her life. Lol. Also people think that since it’s a humvee it’ll just go through obstacles with no resistance, but it takes skill and understanding of the 4x4 gear shift to drive right, and knowing when to ease in and out and when to apply torque. You did great in the snow. 👍
So far so good. It pulled the truck maybe 70’ on the last hole breaking through the ice shelf. I’m happy so far. I wish it was the 12k but they didn’t have any at the time and I wanted a made in USA model.
@@ninja63639 well…the thing is it says that. But nowhere on the winch is it stamped or stickers that say anything. But they say it is. Or was. Super winch was bought out and I don’t know how they are doing it now.
I appreciate the feedback. I’m trying to do better with music. TH-cam is tricky in that regard with what you can and can’t do. Over the years I’ve learned more and they are giving more options. Never sure to just have the engine and truck sounds with our conversation or some background music. Sometimes my wife is playing music while we are wheeling and TH-cam will give a copyright infringement strike if it picks it up in the original video soundtrack. So sometimes when I have music dubbed over (approved TH-cam music) it covers the music she had played in real time in the cab of the truck. But I do sincerely appreciate your feedback. You took the time to watch so I want to make it worth your time.
It was an awesome trip. We have to do it again
Cool video guys! Yeah that's a pretty intense Trail. This time of year makes it way worse glad you guys made it👍👍
It was a blast. I love your channel. I love all the adventure you take that Colorado on. Hopefully we can wheel together soon.
@@McSpeedAlaskanAdventures Thanks man! I will be doing a lot of the Glacier runs I'm sure we will bump into each other.👍

“That’s not a good sign”😂
Very nice place 👌👍
Looks like a fabulous time!! Alaska is gorgeous!
Badass trail. BTM is very helpful. Brake throttle modulation will lock the torsen differentials. There's a bunch of videos on how to.

@McSpeed1 Yea its super odd at first. I used it when mudding and its a game changer. Been working on these trucks for over 15yrs and still love them.

Awesome ride! Glad your experience those Alaska trails!
Is a humvee giving a ride,or does it hurt your back and body.

You have more nerve than me!!!
Just thinking Woww these Humvee's go anywhere vehicle
And over the next crest you arrive at Camp,
Two Toyota's already there🥴
Truth. But. You will notice the Toyotas are highly modified to run those trails. Takes a lot to get a 37” tire to run on those.
How big is the fuel tank on your hummer?
Standard size. I think it is 25 gallons
Is the Jeep Gladiator JT better than the Humvee and have people replace the Humvee for the Jeeps? 11-13-23

Was looking at getting one but saw you can't register military humvee's in AK...?
It depends on how it was originally titled. I used a services called dirt legal. You can Google them up. They are legit.
Thx for the reply.
