    Those maxi pad ice packs are a MUST!!! You can’t use them for too long bc the cold doesn’t help the healing process but for the first 1-2 weeks they are an essential!

    Honestly not enough women talk about postpartum care. My best friend told me everything leading up to labor including sending me pics of what the mucus plug was. And she told me about labor. But failed to mention all the postpartum care and items needed. But i see why....it will scare anyone who hasnt been through it. But i always try my best to tell any of my pregnant friends or coworkers what they will need because i was thrown into not knowing and when i found out everything id need, i was shocked. So i try to lessen the blow for others on their first go round.

      Thank you. I'm pregnant with my first child now, and I asked my gfs, and they were mute. They said each experience is different, so they declined to share any information. That makes me angry. Why not?! I'm pregnant now. I will go through the process. Sure, my experience may be different, but does that preclude you from telling me about your experience? Ugh. I appreciate that you actively do this.

      @@dalytheos oh congratulations! That is so exciting! Im sorry your weren't able to get info from people in your life! But hey....theres always the internet and youtube I guess. It really sucks it has to be that way, but there are some really informative videos similar to this one floating around! As well as some videos that will go into much more detail with them being long form videos vs youtube shorts. Because while yes this video has tons of info....its not everything because again, everyone has a different experience but it never hurts to find out all the "possibilities" before hand (such as caring for tears, caring for an episiotomy, hemorrhoids, pooping while pushing etc) none of those may happen to you but its always good to have the knowledge and be prepared and aware those things are all possible. Because for me, I tore and didn't know that was even possible. I knew hemorrhoids were possible but it never happened. I've also been told that even if you poo while delivering and you ask, the dr or nurses will lie and say you didn't lol. But if you somehow find out you did...don't be alarmed. It happens to more women than even women know lol. Good luck momma! You got this 💜

      Great private gift for a baby shower. Get a baby clothing gift etc. and at some point, have this in your back pocket, so to say. Give it all made up or in various packages after the shower but before the birth. I think it would be great!

    • @mamaberry
      @mamaberry 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @dalytheos I suppose the most **charitable** reading of their silence might be that some of them dealt with intense baby blues or even postpartum depression and didn't want to scare you or admit that they may had dangerous or shameful thoughts.
      Still, that's probably not true of most of them, and it's annoying that none of them could share the pragmatic parts of recovery. Our hospital had a class on postpartum recovery, taught by two nurses. The first half was on postpartum mental disorders; the other half was on physical postpartum care and recovery. It was really nice to get the perspectives of people who were experienced helping lots of moms, and who were also moms themselves. Maybe there's something like that, in your area?

    Fifth day postpartum here, things I have been using is peri bottle, disposable panty, large pads, aloe Vera gel ( pure and organic, it usually white in Color) and witch hazel to apply down there. I’m healing well. In all honesty even this is too much because I feel like resting and eating whenever my baby is asleep… so I have minimum. But to each their own. All the best to all mummas, much love.❤

      Sadly from that comment I feel there is so much more reading and research to be done. Luckily - it's all over social media and easily accessible with the internet. Ha mas was created AFTER the illegal occupation of Palestine had begun. It is a resistance group. Let's understand what that word means - the definition of resistance means that there is an oppressive power that they are fighting against. Most human rights organisations across the world say that there is apartheid, ethnic cleansing and war crimes being committed. Israel is a terrorist state, much like the USA and UK. Reading is a wonderful tool to combat our own mental oppression and biases. Peace.

Because i'm from the netherlands and there you have postpartum nurses, who come at your home for 8 hours a day for the first week, and take care of you and the baby. Most of it is to help with the discomfort after vaginal childbirth. Besides the breast pads and nipple cream. Those are for leaking breast milk and chapped nipples lol.
      Like, C-section mamas would need different items to help with healing. She has a lot of good items that help with tearing and hemorrhoids. Only thing I would add is a donut pillow and a belly wrap. The pillow keeps pressure off the lady bits while sitting, and the wrap to help the hips and upper abdominals during and after the uterus shrinks. Of course, all is optional and dependent on what mama needs. 😅

      @kenetrice 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +96

      It’s not that you NEED these things, it’s that they’re nice to have and make postpartum a lot more comfortable. There’s a lot of pain and burning down there so while applying perineal healing creams, hemorrhoid cream, and the ice pack pads down there aren’t “needs”, they damn sure feel good and make that area a lot less painful. Our bodies go through so crazy things during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, what’s wrong with a mom wanting some self care? The world already cares so little about moms, it’s all about the new baby during that time so wanting some comfort and TLC for our healing bodies is a GOOD thing. I hate this idea that just because you can survive just fine without any of this, that you should go without it. I guarantee if someone had of given you a nice ice pack and some soothing cream to put down there to take some to that burning and soreness away back in 1980, you’d have been thankful to have it. There’s no prize for suffering through the most pain and not taking care of yourself too.

    Things that have been a lifesaver during my first few weeks postpartum were adult diapers (i know it can be akward, but it makes things soooo much easier for the first few days with the heavy bleeding, i mainly wore them at nights and it also helped for when i couldnt make it to the bathroom in time due to my pelic floor being so weak), an ice pack, and things i still use at almost 8 weeks is the perri bottle (my first checkup with my OB isnt for another few days so i still use it just till i know if its safe to go back to normal), and lotssss to drink. I typically drink juice (i dont like water so i drink juice to get some sort of hydration), and milk but now i always need a drink during the night. Fibre gummies also helped me a ton, i still use them due to hemmoroids which sucks. But they also help a lot when it comes to your first poop, i got some like the day after getting discharged from the hospital, and it helped me when going to the bathroom since my vag was already in a lot of pain after going to the bathroom due to stitches. And what i found helped after peeing, is putting an icepack on after rinsing/ dabbing myself dry with toilet paper, it didnt complety get rid of the pain immediately but it reduced it by quite a bit.

    You know what pisses me off after I gave birth nobody told me how to take care of myself, and ease the pain from the tearing I had, not at the hospital, not at the clinic nobody told me how to alleviate the pain and discomfort after giving birth.
    My mother adopted me, and she never gave birth so she didn’t know to warn me either for two months I suffered, and cried every time I had to go to P I even stopped drinking water because I was afraid of the pain and discomfort every time I went to the toilet.
    it’s so frustrating why does everyone assume that women naturally know this things.
    I wish I had someone to explain to me that we have options like disposable underwear and ice packs for down there. I didn’t even know we had that option at the time I gave birth.
    Any way she looks beautiful congratulations ❤️😅🙏🏼

      That's awful that you had no one to help you. Just because the baby is out, doesn't mean our bodies are done and back to normal. This is why I think having a midwife or a doula, even for hospital births, is amazing. My midwife taught me so much and gave me many of the items I would need for the discomfort. I wouldn't have known otherwise if not for her.

    I wish I’d seen this 6 months ago when I gave birth to my snootie . I absolutely LOVE the Frida brand, especially the ice pads. They felt AMAZING fresh out of the shower but I found it extremely difficult to sit down properly without a lot of pain while using one. I had 2nd degree tear and I was breastfeeding so having to sit up while wearing one felt like sitting on a bunch of little pebbles. I’m keeping this video for the next baby ❤

    Just saying this for anyone watching this and panicking. You do not need all this stuff. Like 4 of these things are essential in my opinion - pads, diapers, a squeezy bottle for washing. The rest are nice to haves, or things you might end up needing but sometimes it’s best to wait and see.

    The adult diapers heck yea are a must. I used the witch hazel stuff the doctor gave me, i think i got some extra before leaving. But i didnt use alot for MY healing process. I had a vb, with a very minor tear. I do say though, if they offer you the stool medicine to take that stuff home with you, just in case. Pooping was scary 😂 but i promise itll be okay, i built it up to be way worse than it was actually.
    I had the frida foam but didnt use it. I think it depends on preference. Being over prepared is much better than being under prepared. I also was very stressed with my first not latching so my care came last. If your kiddo doesnt latch i reccomend a lactation consultant it helped know my options and he did sort of latch. We ended up exclusively pumping for the first year. It was a very long year of pumping, but nonetheless greatful for being able to provide for my babe
