    Glad I chose this stand. Nice piece of equipment with quality hardware. The only thing I did differently was for step #3...I put the bolt in the other direction so the smooth surface of the head faces out like the factory installed bolt at the base of stand. The hard stop catches these arms when folded and the nut end of the bolt does not make contact with the stand.

      I thought that an odd direction in which to put the bolts like you I turned them round.

    The plastic cone on mine constantly gets stuck. I have to wiggle my bike when it's in the clamp and suddenly it releases violently. And yes, I make sure I loosen it enough. I came to this video thinking I did something wrong under assembly but I did exactly as in the video. Is there any way to fix this? makes me not want to use the stand

    Great video, very easy to follow and assemble the stand. Does anything have to be oiled or greased? Perhaps the video should be expanded to include the possibility of folding it up. High-quality stand.

    • @readyplayer2
      @readyplayer2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To fold it up, loosen the knob and depress the spring loaded button that prevents accidental folding, while pushing the upright tube with the clamp towards the legs. You can then gently fold the legs against the upright tube. I just assembled mine and am happy with it so far. Time will tell how it holds up!

    Can you tell me the difference in the 10.3 over the 10.2 that justifies the extra £100 or so

    • @chemaco1
      @chemaco1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If you look the minute 1:00 of this video, you can see a kind of nipple or steel chrome edge that brake any accidentaly posibility of folding in case the bottom lock ring collar is undertighted. In the video of 10.2 👇🏼👇🏼
      th-cam.com/video/BwKojn-5G1Q/w-d-xo.html
      around 1:40 minute can be seen there isn't anything similar to avoid accidentaly folding of the stand. However, there is another collar lock ring to solve this possible issue, but that is not included with the 10.2 as far as I know.

  • @changereception7750
    @changereception7750 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I was looking at buying the 10.2, what's the difference between the 10.2 and 10.3?

    • @parktool
      @parktool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The main difference is the addition of a spring button which prevents the legs from folding once the stand is fully upright, even if the adjustment knob is not properly tightened. The clamp and jaw covers have also been revised to allow for more secure engagement on tubes as small as 7/8”, which would include most dropper posts. Finally, certain internal parts have been revised to be stronger or to allow smoother operation.

      @@JV220 I used some kind of lithium grease (Abro, yellow in colour), but any grease should be OK. If you've got anti-seize lying around, that'd be even better.

    • @parktool

      Yes you can. It is up to you to decide if that is the most logical place to clamp though. We typically recommend clamping to the seatpost.

    It's a nice stand but the head gets stuck and doesn't rotate without a bike in it as a lever or a long bar.
    I tried the lube but it doesn't make things better.

    make a video on how to fix a seized up stand. I've had mine 3 years and it seizes up and won't rotate. Park Tool says not to leave it tight. That's asinine.

    Torque specs on small screws for a repair stand?!? Soon Ikea will have torque specs for their lamps.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People often ask how tight things should be. A torque value is fortunately/unfortunately the most effective way to get that across.

    • @jptrainor
      @jptrainor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@parktool It seems to be a trend. Which isn't a bad thing. I've seen it recently in snowblower assembly instructions too. Never saw such details in the past. Always see the spec in auto service manuals.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It may or may not have something to do with how many home users/mechanics are stripping bolts out or not tightening them enough. Defining tightness/tension reduces the number of issues that people may experience.

    The plastic cone on mine constantly gets stuck, put grease in the hole lets see if this is gonna help. But I am really disappointed on this bike stand cause of the plastic pieces. Its not a durable bike stand because of this. It looses up everywhere all the time. Once again another shitty bike product because of its plastic pieces. Companies try too save money and then don`t care about the environment.
