In 1987 my soon to be wife and I went to a place called Spooky World in Berlin, Mass. I had a bad cold. As we waited outside in the freezing weather for a hay ride we passed by a stage area. The door swung open and the man himself, Bobby Boris Pickett, came out and sang Monster Mash! Suddenly I forgot all about my cold and the cold. What a treat not a trick! ALL true!
Same here 53 years old and didn't know who did the song. I remember the first time I heard it though. My elementary class were doing a stage show for Halloween. 6th or 7th grade and these girls dressed up as cats, black body suits and black tights with long tails. I got to see all the the rehearsals and the show. I never heard the song again until The Doctor Demento Show about 78 or 79. I didn't know he did anything else.
i lived a few miles away from the original spooky world.... It was amazing, just about every horror icon would vist that place...... u parked in a rolling green field and went to actual old new england houses and barns.....just an amazing timr
"Monster Splash" would have rhymed with "Monster Mash." But what he is referring to here is a fad dance called "the swim" which was popular around the time this song was recorded.
@@jonathank8057 True, but they might have used splash and still incorporated some reference to the Swim in the lyrics. Anyway, the song didn't go over.

I couldn't think of a better guy to do a song like this. What a fun and loving tribute to the one and only Boris Karloff. I'm sure Boris himself got a laugh out of this one!
I was 9 then and don't remember this one, but I enjoyed this one as much as " The Monster Mash" and watching the young audiences then. I wish I was there then.
It’s a little known fact that Bobby was actually recounting the horrors of a traumatic experience through these songs. RIP Bobby, May you finally find the peace you were looking for
Always a treat ( not a trick ) to watch Bobby 'Boris' Pickett sing one of his hits and change into his Boris Karloff characterization! The eyebrows constantly moving up and down, the lip tucks and facial expressions... all 'Vincent Price-less Pickett!!!'
I was sitting in my home, late one night When my mind imagined some awful shite The same old tune that I'd done before To get some cash like a musical whore From the studio walls where it all began I'd make a new record for the dumbfuck fans I need the dollars and I have no shame My landlord and agent they're the ones to blame
I can remember hearing this on the radio back in 1964, probably on WINS, then the no. 1 top 40 station in NYC. It didn't get anywhere near the traction the Monster Mash did, in fact that was the only time I heard it. Until now.
I wanted to marry Dick Clark when I was 4. I even got a Dick Clark doll that Christmas..ugh 1959~ A good year! Rest peacefully, Dick.. brought us SO much great entertainment for MANY years! I sure miss him on New Year's eve!
Feels like a Monster Mash remix. In my head I keep hearing the lady from those early 2000s hip hop remixes that just keeps saying remix throughout the whole song 😂
That song really was better than 'The Monster Mash!' My first time hearing it. Cool faces, voices, and topical references to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones!
He made some fun music but pretty much a one trick pony...it's one of those things that puts a smile on your face when you haven't heard it in quite awhile.....🌟🌟🌟🌟___. 4 stars out of 5! Thanks for that!
The fact that this exists and was performed on television is incredible.
What, no scary chicks in bikinis?
Totally agree.
It is epically bad stuff; like wow what an awful song lol
He performed well into his later years, but his facial expressions in the early years was amazing!

Even with no makeup or costume he amazingly transforms himself into a monster!. Really great performance!

Just amazing to see him in action. I always thought he had a group of other people doing the other voices. What a talent.

He's not doing the voices here either. Not a great job of lip-syncing to the record. ;)
I love this guy he throws himself into the character ,
And brings out the nightmare of the song
Very very talented and unique this bobby
It's like a "sequel" to the monster mash. Cute. Great facial expressions
Impersonations of an angry DICK YORK or PAUL LYNDE!
This dude was incredible! Thanks so much for both unforgettable songs Bobby. They’ll live in posterity.
Love his singing and his expressions even more... great artist.. love it love it love it!!!!
I thought he was 'rapping'.
His expressions were amazing and very like that of Boris Karloff 😂

Beverly Pollack Could be, I've never heard that that was how they did it, but if they did, what a great result, huh?
+I saw a video and it might have been dubbed. Anyway, it was amazig
Actually, Karloff performed "Monster Mash" on a tv special back in the '60's. There wasn't a whole lot of DIFFERENCE in the
voices
The "Crypt Kickers" were Gary S. Paxton, Leon Russell, Johnny McCrae, Rickie Page, and Terry Berg.

Leon Russel!!!

70 years old is pretty average life span of a human. Of course, we can live to 130 years old, but most will die before 80.

I love the Bobby Pickett Monster Mash song this is first time hearing the Monster Swim. Love it All :)

And so many of these 50’s-60’s singers would get one hit and then think they can just keep going back to the same well.
You have to give credit to this guy- he milked the living shit out of this bit. Good stuff
It’s a little known fact that Bobby was actually recounting the horrors of a traumatic experience through these songs. RIP Bobby, May you finally find the peace you were looking for
