Led Zeppelin 1 came out the same year I dropped Acid for the first time in 1969. I'm 68 now. I was 13 then and that was the first album I ever bought. I used money from my paper route to buy it. That was my first trip to downtown Long Beach, CA by bus by myself to buy the album. So many times tripping in my bedroom listening to it. It was fifteen years later I got to meet Plant backstage at a Donovan concert at the Santa Monica Civic. He was in a wheelchair from a car accident and asked me to push him around. The rest of the band was in the audience. I was a production assistant for Fun Productions that put on the show in 1976(?) and this song was a part of that show. Kudos to the producer of this video! I've done a few like this many years ago in the early days of youtube and it isn't easy.
I had tickets to see them in Atlanta when they had to cancel because of that accident! I was heartbroken! I should have kept the tickets but I had to return them and get my $11 (!!!) back cause I was also broke! Never got another chance to see the band but saw Plant many times and Page a couple of times, playing with other acts. And saw Jason Bonham's Zeppelin tribute in '22.
Never thought that I'd hear Led Zeppelin, Fred Astaire, and Rita Hayworth in the same sentence, much less the same video. Gosh, this was wonderful!! The editing was flawless. I smiled the entire time and I thank you SO much for this. Fabulous.
Usually, musical combinations like this do not always work as well as this did. But this was superb. I was wondering what Fred Astaire would have thought of the whole thing and have decided he would have - pardon - gotten a real kick out of it. It's not like he was totally against rock music. He went to go see an Alice Cooper show with Groucho - who was a close friend of Groucho. And being a really good drummer, himself how could he help but like Bonzo.
I remember seeing one of Astaire's dance partners interviewed on a late night talk show in the '70s. The host talked about Astaire being a great dancer. The woman said, "I did everything he did backwards, wearing heels."

I haven't watched one of these "old clips dancing to modern music" videos in a long time, & maybe I'm alone in this, but all the others I've watched in the past have been better. I was actually disappointed in the editing of the dance steps to the music. Also, the best one I've seen not only matched the video to the audio, but even matched the video to the lyrics!
It just goes to show how while music may change over the years, dancing doesn't really change as much as you might think. Our parents and grandparents were making the same moves, just to a different beat.
Never liked Fred Astaire. Thought all those old dance cheesy musicals were rubbish. But Wow! I have never ever ever done such an about-face in my life! Absolutely stupendous! What an absolute mindblower!
Our parents and grandparents were BETTER dancers than we are. They were dancing generations, and their music was made to dance to. I'm 64 and remember the old timers "cutting the rug" at family weddings etc... They were just better dancers than us.
I dunno... There may be some similar steps, just as there are similar chords and progressions in music through the ages. But just as with the changes in music, the overall effect and feel of this kind of dance is radically different from today's.

Master class in dance. Fred Astair was so precise and limber yet he never looked like he was working. He looked so serene dancing away in intricate steps that had taken him hundreds of hours to memorize yet he looked like he just dropped in and did it as if he was just breathing.
Astair's physical grace was unmatched. It required a tremendous amount of athletic ability and self-control. He started his professional dance career with his sister, Adele, in the early 1900s in vaudeville. He became a favorite singer of tin-pan alley composers because he knew how to sing phrases so that the words meant something.

I’ve idolized Led Zeppelin since I was 12. I’ve loved amazing dance of all genres for as long as I can remember. To put these two things together like this . . . My soul is rocked! 😎 This was a thing of beauty, for sure. (I’m now 64 and still idolize Zeppelin. Just went to a Zeppelin tribute band concert last week - IT ROCKED!) Thank you!
I'm 62. I borrowed Led Zeppelin IV from my older brother in the mid 70s and was hooked from the get go. My father was a big fan of Fred and I'm sure he'd be quite entertained after watching this.
This is brilliant. I love Led Zeppelin! And I really miss all this dancing, that's flat out athleticism. My favorite thing was Ginger Rogers comment about dancing with Astaire, that she did the same thing with 6" heels on.
If only it were true, and not a snarky shot taken because she didn't like him. Fred Astaire incorporated considerably more flourishes to the same steps, no idea how everybody just accepts that comment as true (I just came from another video with them dancing, and saw this comment about 10 times). I know she's gorgeous and all, but you only have to watch them dance once to see it's not true.
I don't know. In six-inch heels she would have been noticeably taller than Astaire. Sounds like just a quip. In addition to that she was 12 years his junior.
*Fred Astaire* - the *greatest of all time dancer rocks* - better than any strictly come dancing / dancing with the stars performance. That Fred Astaire Led Zeppelin mash-up is just ace !
This is exceptionally well done - the beats actually match up. Fred&Rita's embellishments and breaks match up with breaks in the song - same dancing-alone-army guy! Its given me a whole new appreciation for their dancing.

@cindykrista I was brought up with live music but if you are talking about playing Led Zeppelin at a ballroom dancing tournament I get it, because you would not do that, but people were dancing on their seats at Led Zeppelin's concert of the century at the O2 Arena in London on the 10th of December 2007, it requires imagination and a bit of flare but if you have no ability to be able to move your feet and body rhythmically to the beat of music in any form better you remain a wall flower then Mick Jagger would also tell you that 🌻🌷🙋

Brilliant. Also really makes you realize how precise was Astaire’s sense of rhythm 🥁 !
This is stunning. Who'd have thought. Fred and Rita. Rock 'n roll before their time! Kudos the editor.
but there are not taps to hear - makes no sense - should sound like th-cam.com/video/g170UfckI4E/w-d-xo.html - not covered up by music
Now I see where Robert got his moves. Whoever did this was spot on genius. I was skeptical, at first, but it could not have worked out better. Well done
Почему-то всегда думал, Led Zeppelin это что-то тяжёлое и не слушал никогда, хотя возможность была. Как жаль... Зато сейчас можно поизучать что-то новое - это большой плюс. Rock-'n'-roll forever!!! ♾️
Beautifully done - I'm sure they would both be overjoyed to see how timelessly relevant their work and talent has remained.
Do not tamper with the original
@@peterkaldenberg2812 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just awesome! The editing was tremendous! Astaire was simply the best, and Rita was just stunning. And that Led Zeppelin group might pan out too! Lol
What simply astonishes me is how easy Astaire, Hayworth, and LZ went together with the incredible editing! Be well, safe and peace to you and yours.
Rita was always Fred's best partner. Amazing the way Led Zeppelin music works here. Wonderful to watch.
Oh my word !! This is just brilliant. Should be dispensed free as a cure for Depression !! Cant stop watching it
This was fun to watch. A much needed distraction. Excellent editing work. Thank you.
Amazing. When you move like Fred & Rita it can work with any music 👌🏻so fluid. Love it
This just makes me smile ! LOVE IT !!!!
Just went to a Zeppelin tribute band concert last week - IT ROCKED!)
Thank you!
I'm 62. I borrowed Led Zeppelin IV from my older brother in the mid 70s and was hooked from the get go. My father was a big fan of Fred and I'm sure he'd be quite entertained after watching this.
Let's take a minute and give Mad Propers to this Editor. 💥👏🏽💚 Long Live Fred,Rita...and 'The Mighty, Mighty Led Zeppelin'.
This is brilliant. I love Led Zeppelin! And I really miss all this dancing, that's flat out athleticism. My favorite thing was Ginger Rogers comment about dancing with Astaire, that she did the same thing with 6" heels on.
And backwards!
Its a jewel...
If only it were true, and not a snarky shot taken because she didn't like him. Fred Astaire incorporated considerably more flourishes to the same steps, no idea how everybody just accepts that comment as true (I just came from another video with them dancing, and saw this comment about 10 times). I know she's gorgeous and all, but you only have to watch them dance once to see it's not true.
that is incredible
This is absolutely pure genius work in choreography
excellent excellent excellent work !
Wow! This is the variation on a theme I’ve been waiting for! Brilliant!
That was awesome! They had rock n roll in their hearts and didn't even know it!! ❤️
Around 2:30 the dance looks like 60's style.
This is the best thing I've seen all day.
I loved this video and Rita Hayworth is so Gorgeous. Possibly a top 10 of all Time!
Possibly? You need your head examined
Actually Well Done doesn’t do justice to this amazing edit. Whoever did this is a true artist in my book. The work it must been…bet it was a labor of love. This has made my morning!
Putting these 2 great acts, Fred & Ginger and Leppelin together just proves how Brilliant they both were. Thank you.😊😊😊
Ginger ??
excellent montage , quelle beauté cette Rita Hayworth . Merci pour ce moment 😊
Can't go wrong with the classics
Greatest dancer who ever lived! Love you Fred Astaire!
True but I would rather watch Rita Hayworth.
Greatest WHITE dancer who ever lived...maybe
WOW !!!!
Amazing syncing with the music and dancing. I used to watch these movies as a kid because of parents choices, but this music really puts a new spin on things.
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT
The dancing is astounding!
That was bad ass!!! Loved seeing them dancing to Led Zepplin, my FAVORITE band of all time!!! 😃😊
tired of seeing dancers doing Michael Jackson moonwalk all the time. This old time musicals stuff was awesome!!! , more, please!!
Jackson coppied the moon walk from some old movie from the 1920s ,
@@alemgas Michael Jackson was also good friends with Fred Astaire and created Smooth Criminal as an homage to him. My point is that MJ worked in and extended the Astaire tradition (with some James Brown thrown in for seasoning).
And who says you can't dance to Led Zeppelin? That was great!
I never heard anyone say you can't dance to Led Zeppelin...ever.
Most people can't dance to Zeppelin, you have to be good like Fred Astire
@cindykrista Please loosen up a bit Cindy 🤟👉🍻🤣🙋
@cindykrista I was brought up with live music but if you are talking about playing Led Zeppelin at a ballroom dancing tournament I get it, because you would not do that, but people were dancing on their seats at Led Zeppelin's concert of the century at the O2 Arena in London on the 10th of December 2007, it requires imagination and a bit of flare but if you have no ability to be able to move your feet and body rhythmically to the beat of music in any form better you remain a wall flower then Mick Jagger would also tell you that 🌻🌷🙋
@cindykristaBut we are now living in the year 2022 not 1942
Watching Rita dance always makes me smile!
Excellent sincronizated! Super video👍👍👍👍👍👍😁!
BRAVO! One of the greatest rock bands in history and two legends from the big screen matched to perfection. Absolutely enjoyed this. THANK YOU!!!!
Amazing how the song and the dancers blend so well. Who would have thought.
Love it. Rita Hayworth was a doll!
Finally, the missing link between my parents' era and mine. This is a brilliant video. Been a Zeppelin fan for over 50 years.
