I would add that Northern Exposure was ahead of its time on issues of women, spirituality, native, race, and gay rights decades before other shows were socially conscious.

Broke the third wall also. A no no in the TV industry, but really they could push it to that threshold with the cast they had. It got producer Josh Brand in trouble with the network but he did not quit, but was approved to stay as long as he did not demand a pay raise.

This show is literally a national treasure, & it's nearly impossible to describe in words how brilliant this show was. If television is an art, Northern Exposure is a masterpiece. My gratitude goes out to the creators & the entire cast for giving us this beautiful gift.

I'm 61 yrs old, and for me Northern Exposure is the best TV show EVER. Quirky, original, wonderful characters, beautiful scenery, really funny but with a lot of heart. Extremely well written. Never boring. And, even though the characters were very complex, it wasn't as convoluted as today's shows, so it was easy to follow the stories.

What John said at the end is correct. It leaves you in a good mood with a good feeling, ready for the next adventure. I absolutely love this show. Thank God it is finally on a streaming network at Prime!

Love how John wore the cut off shirt and bandana. Still adorable. My favortite show back then and remained all these years. Available for streaming finally! with original music from the show which some was taken out of DVD's. I wish they'd gotten Elaine Miles (Marilyn) and Darren Burrows (Ed) to join in.

was in my 20s when I watched the show. At 60, I can honestly say that after watching the episodes several times, it changed me. Northern Exposure is a part of who I am today. I am so grateful for everybody who participated in making that show. Thank you.

Northern Exposure was a DREAM of a TV show....I never managed to see that many episodes even though I loved it due to household TV choice heirarchies...but now I have the ENTIRE SERIES ON DVD waiting for me to get my 50 inch 4KUHD TV out of storage....and just soak in it!

I feel the same. I'm 57 and this show gave me a license to celebrate my quirky and eclectic tastes and in turn celebrate each character on the show. I loved them all. Best of all, a couple of years ago I moved from Grosse Pointe, Michigan to the Italian version of Cicely, in San Fedele Intelvi. It's a great mountain town between Lake Come and Lake Lugano with an interesting cast of characters to keep me entertained. I now feel like I've joined the cast of NX.

We're in the same boat lol. I'm 46 and I just started the final season. It's a fantastic show! I don't know if you've gotten this far yet, but the conversation Chris (John Corbett) and Maggie (Janine Turner) have when Chris is installing that washer/dryer at her cabin. OMG, the writers nailed it back in 1994! That is exactly what we're dealing with today! Also, Janine Turner was/is a stone cold stunner. What a beauty!

I’m 65 and live near Olympia WA. Back just after NE ended my mother came up and wanted to see Roslyn since she was a big fan. I didn’t watch much TV back then so I didn’t understand all the things she was talking about. I only knew the town for its beer.
This year I finally got to watch it on Prime and am now in season 5. Now I know what all the fuss was about, what an outstanding series and what a great interview this was. Thank you for putting it together.

My mother adored this show. Vaguely recalled watching it with her as a kid, something we always wanted to stream as the age of streaming came on, it was always the biggest absence. Cancer took her, quickly, just before the show appeared on Amazon. Stunning how much this show shaped me even as a child watching in retrospect. Blown away by the show, saw a clip of this somewhere and spent some time looking for it in full-thank you so much.

Northern Exposure will always be one of the best TV shows of all-time. I am thrilled that N.E. was released on blu-ray in Region 1 for the first time recently, all six seasons in one box set. Watching Northern Exposure today takes me back to the early 90s even more than listening to Seattle Grunge Rock. That show defined an era and was a cultural moment in time. I cherish it! Seeing these great cast members share stories together today is so awesome. Thank you for posting this!

The show shone with genuine humanity. A deep optimism in the human capacity for kindness and the importance of community. I keep thinking of that one scene when Ruth-Ann quotes Terentius, “nothing human is alien to me.“ The show was everything that is noble in art.

I’m 62 this year. Had worked 12 hour night shifts in the hospital during the prime time airing of this show from 1990 to 1996. Only caught it once in awhile but loved the show at that time. Several years ago bought the entire DVD series to catch up now that I’m retired. I love it even more and this crazy show raises my spirits no matter how many times I’ve watched it. It truly is a network gem and gift to those of us that are fans.

I love the characters which are very talented actors and actresses and will watch the show time and time again because you just can't wear it out lol . Make a comeback ya'll and I'll watch those too . I been hearing rumors about a reboot so bring it I'm ready :)))

This show was formative to me. Back in college. It really set the tone for the nineties. That indy aesthetic. Oh my gosh, I'm soooo excited to find this. After 30+ years, I just found Northern Exposure on Amazon & now died & think I'm in heaven watching it once again. It is honestly JUST the best show still (with Little House in a close 2nd. Smiling). I truly forgot what a great positive feeling this show gives a person. It's literally food for the soul - all these years later. Please if they're still alive, give my respect to the writers for their amazing work. When you were filming initially, I had taken my then very young daughter up to Roslyn & watched you film & even have a picture of Cynthia & my daughter in front of Docs office. Thank you still. And while there got to thank John for his awesome portrayal of Chris, whose philosophy in life was eerily close to mine along with the Native American theme which fits my soul exactly. Then Rob M, who I was having crazy lucid dreams about though in a past life as Native Americans (who can make this stuff up) who shows up on his motorcycle to the very redwood state park (Jed Smith) my then husband & I were living in 12 hours south of Roslyn & stays for 10 days totally freaking me out after years of having the same dream, that I knew him in a past life. Honest to God & whose bday is 09.21.62 & mine 09.12.62. The makings of a NE episode for sure. If I hadn't been so pregnant & fat & true reality shock, I would have sat down to chat for the hek of it. Now, all these years later, the kids grown, even a grandson & now with my beloved gorgeous Shona African husband (from Zimbabwe) & N.E is back in all it's glory. It'll probably be the last time to enjoy such great tv with us soon to be moving back to Africa to be surrounded with culture, lots of African drumming & dancing & joy - which is why I loved N.E to begin with. To all who were a part of this show....THANK YOU HEART & SOUL. WHAT A GREAT LEGACY...I also shut off our cable after this ended cause I knew nothing could ever compare. Blessings to all. Kerrie Kanda

This woman should learn how to give folks space to speak. Loved the cast who did their best in spite of the rude and dismissive hostess.

Hi Rob, I would love to see your photo work from the show. Would you consider putting together a photo book of it?

man, if anyone could get their hands onto that 16:9 ratio footage. If I understood Rob well he said they filmed in the nore panoramic ratio but the studio wanted it cropped?

I've been re-watching on Amazon. Great show, but i didn't catch a huge part of the show at the time. Fleishman was a giant asshole.
