  • You may recognize her as Shelly in “Northern Exposure” or as Rhonda from the Olsen twins’ “To Grandmother’s House We Go.” Today, Emmy-nominated actress Cynthia Geary has joined the PureFlix family starring as Charley Copeland in the new series “Going Home.” While living her everyday life in Washington State overlooking a beautiful lake, Cynthia sat down with The War Cry to talk about her new role as Charley and why this project means so much to her. www.thewarcry.org/articles/go...

    "I don't think I've seen Northern Exposure"
The saddest seven words in the English language.

I would think for an interview you would watch at least one or two episodes. I was kind of surprised at that.

34 years later and I still love Shelly Tambo. Also the rest of the cast. Thanks CG for bringing her to life.

I've been a big fan of NE since the 90s and have the entire series on DVD. I'll be driving through Wash. next month and one of my stops will be Roslyn where it was filmed and maybe lunch at the Brick.

Hate to use the A-word, but Geary seems so authentic. I think she is genuine. She always has been.
I completely understand her instant love for the place she was assigned to because of work.
Her end of life insights are illuminating. I have reason to keep them in mind these days.
Also, her and her husband's sense that they wanted kids and did not want to raise them in Los Angeles or some other sketchy place.
Well done, War Cry, for just letting her speak. I would have had such a difficult time of that. You, on the other hand, are thoroughly professional.

I raised my kid in the PNW after being born there then returning after spending total 30:years in LA.
I moved back when just when Northern Exposure began shooting in Roslyn. As a kid, I recall stopping in Cle Elm, and Roslyn.
It was a favorite stop on the way from Magnolia, Seattle to to grandmas home in Yakima over the Beautiful cascade mountains range.
My mind embodies these vivid memories with immense joy and fondness.
I can sense Cynthia’s authentic feelings in this presentation.
      I love the

Cynthia was literally in the best tv show ever made (along with Little House) & she was just adorable. All of the characters were soooo real & sooo rich that once the show ended I shut off my cable permanently because I knew nothing after could ever get close in quality as Northern Exposure. fyi: Forever grateful to Cynthia. While they were filming, I took my little daughter & drove 12 hours up to Roslyn, WA to watch them film & right after we got there & were standing in town, Cynthia was walking by so I asked her if I could take a picture with her & my daughter which she very sweetly agreed to. (32) years later I still have it. Thank you Cynthia. Have a beautiful life.

After Northern Exposure I found a Canadian series called "North of 60". That long running series MORE than replaced my "need" for Northern Exposure. Both remain my all time favorites. Both were able to make you really care about its characters.

Good for this home grown "gal" from the southeast, from a neighboring state, to be on such a memorable series that helped me get through grad school in the early 90s. Followed the entire Northern Exposure series then and binge watch it now from time to time.

I hope that Pureflix will produce a season 2 of Going Home. I'm so hooked on this show!! So Cynthia you're gonna have to get ready to make another season for Pureflix TV.
I'm not real sure if I'll still be alive when a second season comes out?
I might only have a year left to live (?).

I liked Shelley until ahe stole Joel's tapes & wouldn't give them back. I was so mad. I know it was in the script but I might have cussed you out had I run into Cynthia soon after watching.

Is Cynthia a Christian? She says things like "we die and whatever you believe in going into the transition to the next thing". And goes on to say, the show is not "preachy", this sounds very secular. As a Christian, we are to plant the seed and lead the lost to Jesus. The Bible says we are under Jesus' care when we die and are at peace, the Bible is clear about this. She seems like an actress just playing a role for a paycheck.

Oh dear. When will you Christians realise that not everyone is interested in your delusional nonsense? I mean, if you had one shred of evidence to back up anything you say, it may be excusable, but you don't and it's not. At least all you can do these days to perpetuate your doctrine is to lie to children unlike the thousand odd years you threatened to torture or murder anyone who doesn't agree with you. Of course the branch of your cult that is responsible for carrying your torch are also prolific child rapists, but we all know that particular barbarity is not just the preserve of that branch of your cult. Speaking of which, it is so obvious that you preach lies because all the the different denominations claim they are the only ones telling the truth.

I wondered the same thing but ultimately it is the writers of the show who are responsible for glorifying Christ. Also, many so called Christians don’t really, don’t seem to know the Bible. Yes it doesn’t seem like she is Christian. But maybe she will someday. God willing.
