Had a lady in my BMT flight (1998) that couldn't do a single push up, no more than 5 situps, and couldn't run 2 miles, by the time we were supposed to graduate. We started BMT July 15, 1998. She was still in basic that Thanksgiving. Finally outprocessed at Christmas time. Still feel for her.
I love watching people’s experiences in different branches! I went thru basic about 2 years ago as well but for the Army. Your channel is addicting and I love your content, keep up the good work :)
I went thru basic 33 years ago. I find these stories hilarious. They teach literally nothing about hazards. Earthquakes, hurricanes, blizzards, volcanoes none of that. I dealt with all that. In my day. I was an Honor Graduate. Less than 10% in USAF get that. I am still alive. A disabled airman. In any branch, basic training is just that. Survival is the goal.
Good to see you today. 9 minutes/1 mile = 28 minutes on a 5K run. That is very good! This video enable some worrying ground facts to be established and dealt with about early life in the US military. I'm sure you will agree that achieving things outside your comfort zone builds confidence . It's so good to be able to say; "I can do that!" Thanks for uploading - Liked.
Excellent video! I missed this one the first time around, somehow. When I was at Hurlburt, about 89 to 93, we used to deploy to all kinds of weird places in Africa and even weirder, and we usually got a GG shot--the Peanut Butter shot, as you call it--right in the old butt cheek in the line to get on whatever airplane we were riding to the deployment. Most everybody on that outbound flight was sitting hiked up on one butt cheek because of that dang shot, heh! You're doing such a great job talking about how silly the things that young people worry about as they face going to BMT--like showering wtih others and being yelled out and all that stuff. Looking back on it now, isn't it silly the things we worry about and isn't it amazing that the really important things nobody ever even thinks about at that stage of their careers?? The whole experience of BMT is so different looking back on it than it is anticipating it. Love your media :)
If you're looking for an answer now, get on the AF website and put in your ZIP code for the component you want (guard, active, reserve). Someone should contact you in a couple days. If you feel like you're confident in starting the process or just simply want information, contact them . They ask for medical history, height, weight, if you're a conscientious objector, when you feel comfortable going to MEPS, if you have tattoos (if you do they ask where and what they are to ensure they stay in regs). They also ask if you've ever taken the ASVAB since a lot of HS students have taken it. I recommend looking up jobs to create a list. They ask for any facial/body piercings as well. I hope this answers enough!! They do go more in depth but there's a medical form you can look up online. They ask about previous drug use (like marijuana) as well.
Your wingman goes into the bathroom with you when you aren't in the dorm, like in class or an appointment. They obviously don't go in the stall and there are stall doors. When you're in the dorm you can get up and go whenever by yourself.
I really appreciate your videos covering over the Air Force because I'm also considering enlisting after covid clears up. Anyways, I noticed you said you have anxiety, same here. Will the Air force accept people who take any kind of medication for anxiety? and my other question I have is would you consider a single mother of one child joining? or no and why?
I'm glad the videos help! So when I went to MEPS I did not disclose that I have anxiety because I never took medicine before joining and did not seek any treatment. I didn't want my process to be held up. After tech school, I went to mental health on base and got the medicine I needed. Honestly, you'd have to ask a recruiter if that's disqualifying or not because I don't know. I know single mothers who have joined and are very successful. There are a tremendous amount of benefits to joining especially for a single mother like childcare, financial stability, schools on base, etc. You would just need to have a family member or someone you trust watch them while you're in basic training and tech school. Once you graduate tech school, they can accompany you to your first base of course.
When you join the airforce academy do you like get to chose what you want to do in the airforce like being a flyer that gets to fly tactical jets. Or is flying tactical part of the training program. If it isn't how would you be able to fly tactical jets for the military.
hello Mikayla! I'll be shipping out next month, question about overseas, are you able to travel with no restrictions all around europe? like for the weekend or any other holiday/vacation time? (ignoring covid situation) thanks!! good videos!
Hi there! And ignoring Covid, yes you can travel around Europe with no restrictions and without using your leave if it's a holiday or weekend, at least on my base, RAF Lakenheath. However, there are restrictions with visiting Russia. And thank you!
Thank you for your informative videos!! What hairstyles can we wear in basic can we do one or two braids like the Air Force is allowed to wear or is it different because it’s basic? And I know you said we can bring our own shampoo conditioner and face moisturizer is there any face moisturizers that we can’t bring like with added facial chemicals to them? Thank you!! I’m leaving for basic sometime after October 2021:)
Sorry for late response, but you can bring whatever moisturizer you want as long as there’s no Hemp in it. And you can wear your hair in braids, bun or ponytail. I’d google the exact reg because it’s kind of specific
I am going to be putting in for Public Affairs Specialist when I join this year!! My recruiter said there will be a "test" I take (not the ASVAB) to get into Public Affairs, is this correct? Something like... I will be reading in front of a camera? Also, would you mind talking specifically about the Tech School!! What you learn, how long it is, etc.!! :) MUCH APPRECIATED!!
What jobs are best and worst for women? I know it sounds silly but I really like law enforcement and I was looking into the security forces. But at the same time I don’t want to spend my day checking people’s IDs at the gate 😆
Best jobs for woman, depending on your personality and if you like paperwork I would say admin, personnel, finance or material management. Those are easy office jobs. However, Ive heard MX which is anything aircraft maintenance related job or Security forces is one of the worst jobs due to the hours they work. Like someone above said, they check ID 10/12 hr shifts etc. And we all get paid the same.
You set a leave date with a recruiter and he/she can't make you leave for basic before that date. If there's a job availability open earlier and you really want it you could volunteer to leave earlier. And you can wait by holding off on signing your contract until the job you want becomes available.
Honestly, it depends on your MTI but I personally wouldn't try. You could put on lashes if they looked natural and weren't over the top where you can tell they're fake. Once you graduate bmt you can get away with doing your makeup how you want, like eyeliner and the lashes you want...as long as it isn't too bold like red or purple lipstick. I used to feel like I needed makeup but basic training changed that, since you aren't allowed to wear any for 8.5 weeks. On the regular I just wear light makeup now lol but that's just me.
Peanut butter shot? Wtf is that. My Typhoid shot hurt. International deployment requirement Left USAF in 1993. I am a disabled veteran. This was informative. I had a sister flight. Women in uniforms want men in uniforms? 🤔🤔🤣😂🤣😂😉 Human nature. 🙄

I guess you could lie but that's just setting yourself up for disaster honestly because it would end badly if they found out your lying i.e your medical records. I wouldn't lie. The shot hurts but it heals and isn't worth getting in trouble for.
You don’t have to know how to swim to graduate Air Force basic training. However, you would need to know how to swim if you wanted a special forces job or to become a pilot.
I graduated in August of 2018 so I'm not sure how things are with Covid restrictions but my family came to my graduation in San Antonio and I got to go home in December for Christmas in tech school.
