Having worked around Subs for several years, I am familiar with the systems required for a sub to submerge and then surface again. Communicating with the submerged model could be a challenge I am assuming....either way, lots of detail and great work. Germans are great mechanically....

Same here. And to me, it's not just about them being submersible. It's about them replicating an actual sub. So the idea of a submersible camera sub is not the same as a replica of a Los Angeles class sub that does the same thing. I would love to have one of these that I could mount a camera on an explore lakes and such..but it would have to look like a real sub. Know what I'm saying?
Yes Andy, definitely! For me it's a bit more easy because I'm from the science's side.. wich makes the possible scientific sub design widely more versatile... but still they'll have to have some specific points wich make them differ from toy subs...

There is a scene in the clip, where I did film the submarine in front of me,..while behind me three or even more subs slowly gathered..like they were curious animals,..wanting to know what's happening... Amazing. Impressive how detailed they are, even has Jules Verne's sub I think. Couldn't recognize the long light grey one. I think they are a bit too fast when opened up, but still very realistic if they keep the prop speed down. Among the hundreds of plastic scale models I buildt when I was a kid (in the 60s) was a small USS Skipjack SSN. I used to let that thing fill with water and push into my grandparents' pool, and it would glide along like these things totally unpowered. Love this. Thanx for posting.

I think this has to do something with the "boy in man"-thing :-) They enjoy speeding up a bit, and it´s not wrong to have a small reserve for the case of emergency... a few years ago we bought an "torpedo", a toy to play with our diving-scholars, wich reminded me strongly on your "Skipjack"-Story. It´s made from soft plastics and glides underwater from one to another... of course it´s no sub at all.. but letting it glide fascinates even the older ones of our pupils :-). Unfortunately, I don't have as near of a big wallet to build these awsome subs, nor the time to go to one of these events like the one in the video. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place so to speak.

I wouldn´t be able to live without staying near water. I litteraly grew up on or at least directly next to the water, I work on the water, my hobbys are conntected to water,... I wouldn´t be able to leave it for a longer period of time... You might also have a look out for r/c Ships (wich are much cheaper than subs) or land based r/c Vehicles like Crawler,... they are also very detailed and some are a pice of art.... So keep it up! Incredible collection of submarines. Even the Nautilus from the film 7000 leagues under the sea. Loved watching even though its old but its so clear. Do they or can they use these for film work and are theyexpensive to build. I am from UK and always had a fascination with submarines. My cousin served on one which i regret not doing. More fool me but thanks again for great video. David

Hallo VOIX,... kein Problem :-) Englisch geht auch :-)). Ja, es ist tatsächlich möglich, das große U-Boot von Revell zu motorisieren und sogar tauchfähig zu bauen. Dazu als Empfehlung: Google das mal mit folgenden Suchbegriffen: revell, modelluboote.de, Ausbausatz, VIIc Dann sollstest Du schon einen ersten Einblick finden... O:-) Ansonsten ist da natürlich auch das Internet Dein guter Freund.... viele haben Ihren U-Mbau dort dokumentiert. Für den Graupner Bleiakku (sofern er noch in Ordnung ist) brauchst Du ein Modellbauladegerät welches Blei-Akkus laden kann. Was für Daten stehen denn auf dem Akku drauf? Schöne Grüße, Holger

Thank you Admiral8Q, it was a bit creepy to film them ;-), while filming I took too much time for a single boat, 5 others did lurch in from behind and when I turned it looked like they waited for me, starring and checking that I won't harm the single boat. I had to surface for laughing ;-) And for the silver strip I'll have to ask the owner next time,..

The only drawback is that you pretty much have to be underwater to get a good view of its performance. Maybe make the controller waterproof so the operator can stand underwater with a mask and snorkel?
Hi Ramond,.. actually I still can´t get it, that noby did build an underwater transmitter.... using the right Frequenzy it might have enough power to travel up to 6 Meters wich would make a pretty nice underwatersteering..... Hihih.... and me again.... it´s definitely time to go to bed 😂 :-). Yes, I´m totally with you there! I once had a submarine wich I started in a muddy lake... and I thought I could identify it´s course using the waves on the surface... but I was so far away from the real course!! It didn´t even leave the pier... when diving I cought some waterplants in the prop... and it stayed the whole trip right below my feet... I didn´t have to tell you, my collegs were quite amused.... I wasn´t, as it didn´t surface where I thought it migh have been.... until someone told me...... Actually they did play together .. okay,..the humans up over the water did play together.. but as I did film them, I did constantly get the feeling, they also did play with me 😉👍. There is a scene in the clip, where I did film the submarine in front of me,..while behind me three or even more subs slowly gathered..like they were curious animals,..wanting to know what's happening...
And, by the way,..you are the first one, recognizing this.. 😉👍👍👍

Amazing. Impressive how detailed they are, even has Jules Verne's sub I think. Couldn't recognize the long light grey one. I think they are a bit too fast when opened up, but still very realistic if they keep the prop speed down. Among the hundreds of plastic scale models I buildt when I was a kid (in the 60s) was a small USS Skipjack SSN. I used to let that thing fill with water and push into my grandparents' pool, and it would glide along like these things totally unpowered. Love this. Thanx for posting.

I think this has to do something with the "boy in man"-thing :-) They enjoy speeding up a bit, and it´s not wrong to have a small reserve for the case of emergency... a few years ago we bought an "torpedo", a toy to play with our diving-scholars, wich reminded me strongly on your "Skipjack"-Story. It´s made from soft plastics and glides underwater from one to another... of course it´s no sub at all.. but letting it glide fascinates even the older ones of our pupils :-). Unfortunately, I don't have as near of a big wallet to build these awsome subs, nor the time to go to one of these events like the one in the video. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place so to speak.

I wouldn´t be able to live without staying near water. I litteraly grew up on or at least directly next to the water, I work on the water, my hobbys are conntected to water,... I wouldn´t be able to leave it for a longer period of time... You might also have a look out for r/c Ships (wich are much cheaper than subs) or land based r/c Vehicles like Crawler,... they are also very detailed and some are a pice of art.... So keep it up! Incredible collection of submarines. Even the Nautilus from the film 7000 leagues under the sea. Loved watching even though its old but its so clear. Do they or can they use these for film work and are theyexpensive to build. I am from UK and always had a fascination with submarines. My cousin served on one which i regret not doing. More fool me but thanks again for great video. David

Hallo VOIX,... kein Problem :-) Englisch geht auch :-)).
Ja, es ist tatsächlich möglich, das große U-Boot von Revell zu motorisieren und sogar tauchfähig zu bauen. Dazu als Empfehlung: Google das mal mit folgenden Suchbegriffen: revell, modelluboote.de, Ausbausatz, VIIc
Dann sollstest Du schon einen ersten Einblick finden... O:-)
Ansonsten ist da natürlich auch das Internet Dein guter Freund.... viele haben Ihren U-Mbau dort dokumentiert.
Für den Graupner Bleiakku (sofern er noch in Ordnung ist) brauchst Du ein Modellbauladegerät welches Blei-Akkus laden kann. Was für Daten stehen denn auf dem Akku drauf?

Thank you Admiral8Q, it was a bit creepy to film them ;-), while filming I took too much time for a single boat, 5 others did lurch in from behind and when I turned it looked like they waited for me, starring and checking that I won't harm the single boat. I had to surface for laughing ;-)

The only drawback is that you pretty much have to be underwater to get a good view of its performance. Maybe make the controller waterproof so the operator can stand underwater with a mask and snorkel?
Hi Ramond,.. actually I still can´t get it, that noby did build an underwater transmitter.... using the right Frequenzy it might have enough power to travel up to 6 Meters wich would make a pretty nice underwatersteering..... I would definitely enjoy it!

Hihih.... and me again.... it´s definitely time to go to bed 😂 :-). Yes, I´m totally with you there! I once had a submarine wich I started in a muddy lake... and I thought I could identify it´s course using the waves on the surface... but I was so far away from the real course!! It didn´t even leave the pier... when diving I cought some waterplants in the prop... and it stayed the whole trip right below my feet... I didn´t have to tell you, my collegs were quite amused.... I wasn´t, as it didn´t surface where I thought it migh have been.... until someone told me......
I did sell it a few weeks later... but as we have quite some possible pools now.... it still fascinates me :-))))

What kind of radio do you use to control a submarine like that? Doesn't a few feet of water block 2.4GHz pretty completely?

All you need to round it out is a SEAVIEW .. You should check out some of the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Special effects . You Guys aint too far off the mark GOOD JOB!!
