- Return to Moria is a brand new, survival crafting game, set in the Lord of the Rings universe. Today we're taking a closer look at the game. Thanks to North Beach Games for sponsoring today's video, check out Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria for yourself here! returntomoria....
Honestly a very cool setting for a game like this
Watching this video makes it feel like i've already played the game.
ye playing is less entertaining
Loved how you hinted the game is very repetitive without tossing much shade at the sponsor. We picked up what you put down.
Sadly, it does look very repetitive.
Seems to be alot of the same mechanics as the vampire game. Cant think of the name right now. So you make better stuff, hunt down a monster, gather make better gear etc etc.
V Rising. But that game has a very robust base building system. This game looks to be very watered down in that regard. I was cautiously excited for this game, but sadly I think this is just a "generic survival IP grab" game@@wildsidemb6477
That sounds like the recipe for the vast majority of games. I don't see that as a negative though, long as it's still enjoyable.
Survival crafting games repetitive? That's as outrageous as FPS games having guns.
Im cautiously excited for this. Play DRG with my buddies all the time, and anytime we play a game where we can be Dwarves; Dwarves we be.
Rock and stone brother
Can I get a rock and stone ?
That's it, lads... Rock and Stone!
ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE!!
@@haydenwoodyard3624if you are not rock and stone you ain coming home 😂
It's like when you lock yourself out of your house and you have your kid sneak through the window to let you in but they build a mining empire first. Classic.
Would be nice if they would have the different areas slowly begin to repopulate with NPC's moving into the area as you repair and rebuild and get ready to move to the next area.
Where would the NPC come from? The whole point of the game is to try and find a way out, since you cannot open the door.
@@jusatin How did you get in there?
@@Dadsezso Its in the starting cinematic. Basically, a mine cave in causes you to fall into Kazad Dun
@@Dadsezsoan earthquake happened and u fell in and theres a “cave in” in the room u wake up in. i believe it was an earthquake
@@Dadsezso did you even watch the video if you’re asking that?
I LOVE Tolkien's works and i've been itching for a new survival game for a while now so this is right up my alley. Exploring Moria as a dwarf is a very nice fit for the genre as well, can't wait to try it myself.
We need more dwarf games
Anything is better with dwarves in it
have you tried dwarf fortress?
it's a little niche though
@@ammod4827 of course
1000% this
Dwarf of Duty
Ill consider it when they release it on steam.
I hope it comes to Steam, if not there other games.
After a year - as always ;-)
This looks great, seems very faithful to the original lore as well, curious to see how it rolls forward with the 4th age as a setting, great job done so far by the devs!
It's not faithfull to the lore at all but still looks nice. Its waaaaay to much to be close to the original lore. Its more based on the hobbit movies and shadow of war type lotr lore which is pretty far off the og tolkien lore as it is already. Way to much magic and fantasy tropes.
ah yes, to much magic in these games that dont follow the lore... you know the original one didnt have any magic or dragons, not even an all powerful wizard or races that have lived since the dawn of the ages.@@HansWurst1569
@@Very0ddsame things shills said before amazons rop came out. Now they are defending this slop haha pathetic
@@Very0dd A low fantasy setting doesn't mean no magic exists at all, just that the average person has no idea that magic exists, let alone how to use it. Or at the very least magic is considered dangerous and not to be trifled with by just anyone. In contrast to this would be a setting like Harry Potter, where literally everyone uses magic and its just a part of everyday normal life at Hogwarts to the point where some magic becomes as mundane as a kitchen appliance in the real world. Berserk is a great example of low fantasy. It has demons and dragons but the vast majority of people are just swordsmen and warriors not magic users, and using magic usually comes with other complications like selling your soul.
Playing it now, been looking forward to this since I first heard about it a long while back!
The game gets a minus right off the bat for making dwarves craft an iron sword as their first viable weapon. It should be an AXE!
I've been a Tolkien fan and a gamer for about 40 years and the game feels and looks pretty good. The crafting is fun and easy to understand. The setting is great. Love dwarves!
They need to add a lot of gameplay settings for difficulty and stuff.
- I think that the attacks from enemies are way too frequent and that they have too much hp. I want to be more immersed and do my building and exploring without war every 3 minutes and I think dead ai should not respawn in areas you have cleared.
- Bases are too weak and there are no traps or good defences to protect it. Like 7dtd
- Sleeping is a bit annoying, especially in a multiplayer game where everyone must sleep at the same time.
-Map is crap.
Does this look to be pretty linear or is there any sandboxing (e.g. - Valheim) to this?
U have rooms to explore and u can mine a bit of the walls in some of em. In the most cases you will run from preset base to preset base so u save on resources. Also combat is significantly worse than Valheim's
my friend and I have sunk +10hours already into this game, and while I can't say it's better then other survival games, like Valheim for example, it does get some bonus points for the theme, and soo far we're very much enjoy it, though like many other survival games I soo far don't see much replay ability in it once you finish up the game
Are there any npcs? Or is the whole game literally just you and your friends alone making your way through Moria? I would think reclaiming it and buildi mg settlements with lord gimli would be a way more satisfying game, seeing npc’s start to come into areas you’ve reclaimed and secured and whatnot
So this is Valheim in the Tolkien world then? Sounds really good as I love both of those things.
Yes, it's got that feeling. Similar bones.
Do you have a creator tag to plug into the purchase on the Epic Games store?
are there any information about the play time?
I have 500+ hrs in Valheim. This could be a new home for me!
I really enjoy your content and views on games. I trust it. Could you make a review on this game though? This was more like a general overview with a quick mention that you like it at the end. Maybe like your thoughts and views on the game play and mechanics and not just a list of things the game has. I had no idea how to type that without sounding ungrateful for the video. I am, but would enjoy a review from you as well is all I'm saying. Sorry.
rock and stone
Rock And Stine to the Bone! Brother
FOR KARL!
Nice just have to wait for steam release then im down, so many of my mates dont like epic (im mixed, i like more than one plattform usually generate competition and that is usually helpful to the consumer), is it exclusive to epic so it will open on steam in a year?
Can't wait for them to open it up on steam so I can buy it!
We all know you're gonna buy it on epic. Stop being another sheep virtue signaler.
steam or nothing, agree!
@@NainakaiAyita yep F epic game store
With 10 hours on the game I can tell you Valheim is a better purchase. This is just a downgrade with lotr paint on
@@likeyoutubers5454 Yup! Valheim might not be as pretty, but it sure seems a lot more fun and engaging if I compare it to this dwarf simulator.
do you need to be online to start and play the game ? Thanks
The gameplay trailers I've seen had a surprising lack of music. Is that true, no ambient music?
Is there a way to disable the hud?
Looking at the weapon tier list, it seems limited. Hopefully either updates or mods will fix that. Also hope the other mechanics will distract away from this.
does this game have denuvo anti tamper on? cannot find out anywhere
How many hours of gameplay can you expect in a play through? Is there an ending?
sooo its an online game or you can enjoy in singler player? thx
Does crystal decent is after orc town?
I was hoping this game would be great and it sure looks like it's going into the right direction. Art style and lore seem on point!
Looks mid
Don’t be negative
@@RustyCannons don’t be a baby
Sorry to burst your bubble but the combat is awful. This is just a worse Valheim with way less exploring
I would say I’m not, but I could handle a valheim ish clone. I hope it’s good, it may not be. But you’re here checking it out so you must be somewhat interested?
Initial reactions, how close is the gameplay and survival/crafting elements similar to Conan Exiles?
Is it available on console? Probably not but is going to be in the future?
There will come some day when we have a decently good Lord of the Rings game.
Lotr return of the king for PS2 was great
Showdow of Mordor was pretty awesome as well
But sadly this isn't it.
I’m hoping for a valheim ish clone, that could make it good
You trying to say this isn’t it? Lol
so far im curious what is randomized, are boss encounters randomized too like remnant?
Any updates regarding LOTR MMO by Amazon or Monolith studios tho?
torch dont dwarves have dark vision? it glowed b/c u were using mithril obviously.
I hope Force is signed up for Tarisland Beta coming November.
Do you have to eat to survive? Or is it like Valheim where eating just gives you a buff?
Being hungry does kill you
Cool! Thanks for putting this on my radar, Homey!
Didn't realize this was going to be an explanation of the entire game spoiling all mystery and wonder.
I'm so happy the company sponsored him because all gaming companies should be sponsoring guys like Force who maintain a calm and level-headed demeanor on TH-cam... that being said...
I've been watching Force for like a decade now and KNOW and TRUST him as a content creator. By "KNOW" I mean I can tell when he's super hyped for a game within the first 10 secs of a video. So... I'll hold out hope for this simply because it's both a genre and IP I love but I don't know about it yet. Something just looks "off" about it for a LOTR game. Hopefully I'm wrong but didn't get the sense Force was ecstatic about this one.
Yea, this definitely seems like a subdued response. This is just an explanation of the game and not a review in my opinion.
Because it's sponsored of course.
Feels phoned in without the usual twinkle and humour. I also can usually feel if it’s a - ok I’ll do a fair job. Or - holy shit I’m playing this in my free time!
@@T1tusCr0w Just to be clear I wasn't criticizing Force for the video. I was only saying I can kind of get the impression he wasn't impressed with the game and just gave a simple breakdown of it. Maybe I'm wrong but when he really digs a game you can tell right off the bat by his enthusiasm.
@@Wayleran nah your good! I always watch his stuff. This was the 1st time in a while I found myself wondering when some sentences would end. Something was missing. Either he is having one of those days or it’s the game. I still am kinda interested because it’s my genre but it makes me slightly apprehensive. 👊🏻
@@T1tusCr0w Yeah man I know survival genre AND LOTR?! For me that's such a great combo but we'll see. Hopefully the game is good or at least a bit of fun for a while. :D Give me Valheim in Middle Earth though and man we're talkin.
I would like to hear your review on the game Force?! Is it worth it? Is it buggy? Did you like it?
Looks good. Pity it's on Epic and not on Steam.
Lmao...🤡🤡🤡
Oh really? Well, so much for that.
@@sephychan21 Right?! Game might as well not even exist...🤣🤣🤣
Damn! I wouldn’t even have watched the video tbh..
Still easy to play pirated multi-player
Basically valheim but LOTR? Looks cool.
glad they sponsored a great youtuber, dont see much advertisement about this game
What about the multiplayer feats?
It’s very fun I’m already enjoying it so much! So glad I was worried
Bruh. The thumbnail got me dying. 😂😂😂
Playing this game listen Wind Rose will be amazing ^^ thx for the video.
3:20 - even the game knows what we'll sing, and you get a buff for it!
Anybody know what the co op is like. If I play with a friend can I only play his game if he is online
I see Dwarfes and mines my simpy Digger Brain "where is that damn mine cart?" and "were Rich" and "ROCK and STONE BROTHA"
a bit of a spoiler alert before revealing the elven quarter would have been nice....
not to mention the spoiling of all the levels after that......
"the door won't budge" power sync 🚀
I’m a simple man. I see a Tolkien based Dwarf crafting survival game. I dig a hole, diggy, diggy hole. Might be repetitive but it knows what it is and does that decently.
i was thinking i should wishlist it on steam sounds good, then i heard teh epic exclusivity....well sounded good
It will be on Steam after a year ;-)
Just like all other ES exclusives.
@@igorthelight well then after a year when they patched it out i check it, maybe
@@Flemeth100 Agree ;-)
Finally a good game with "digging tunnels" from FPP or 3rdPP. As a kid I loved Dungeon Keeper 1 when I obsessed chochlic mind and dig some tunnels.
Singing a song? You mean like "Diggy diggy hole?!"
Looks good but i dont know if i can play a game thats always underground. Weather adds so much immersion.
when are they wanna realease it on steam?
After a year
whats the end game? seems like a few hours repetitive then no goal
Get killed by a Balrog? xdD
A talking raven that guides you? I'm assuming that's an homage to Valheim.
Good for solo player?
not a word about coop and mp?? how come?
My bros and I are going to hit this hard for Extra Life, looking forward to it!
I’m just waiting for the MMO “they” are making. It’s gonna be crazy
Amazon is working on the mmo. Different company made this game.
I wonder if the LOTR MMO is going to shift to the 4th age instead.
Can count on you Force, just needed to hear it wasn't hot trash
1:13 stopped and bought it. Don’t care about reviews. Been waiting for it. Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t golem 2.0.
Literally what I did
After playing dwarf fortress I'm really excited for this
Far over the misty mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must away, ere break of day
To seek our pale enchanted gold
This actually looks really cool but it's a shame that it is an EPIC exclusive on PC
Oh look, it looks just like every other UE game. What a surprise.
So amazing then? 🤪
@@Natzz14So so amazing, just like every other UE game that looks and feels exactly the same xD
@@alexanderjamesreed935 Are you sure? xD
Elven forge in a Dwarven hold?
looks really good, prob will buy this when im going to my next LAN
Can I play in mobile this game
"Can I play this game on a smartphone?"
Fixed ;-)
Ty for the vid, I was rly curious about this one
Actually would like to see a survival crafting game with MMO where you actually build and have a community. Maybe have a town that is made of clans (or maybe guilds is a better name for it) that keep the town alive? (there will still be NPC, but a shop from a player is always better, but it's more expensive ofcourse) Where crafting things is just as important for economy as is adventuring for keeping monster threats down. Something like that.
Ark survival evolved...Conan Exiles...
@@vitt4300 Well since i only played the beginning of ark (tried playing with somebody else, but they stopped playing, so i stopped too) and only saw some bits of Conan Exiles i guess i just didn't knew these games had that.
@@RLHvanDijkmortal online 2
That was also originally the concept for Everquest Next. Was a full fusion of Everquest MMO mechanics with Building and destruction environments. But sadly that game never came to be.
how is there a raven and wolfs in the underground city? :D
Lore wise, the dwarves used ravens like we used carrier pigeons. And wolves like guard dogs.
How much hour of content do we get.
So, is it similar to V: Rising? I freaking loved that game.
more like Valheim meets Deep Rock Galactic. No vampire, no top down view
V rising is one of the best games ive ever played, sadly it had dying servers and thus a dying player base.
And yeah like the comment above its more similar to valheim, an amazing game too
Rock and stone!
Hey Force another great video! What is your creator tag? I want to purchase the game.
It's like Deep Rock Galactic, but with Dwarves! :"D
🤔
First of all, how dare you
All I hope is that they won't fuck the game up with useless and predatory MTX or a fucking battlepass. This game really-really looks dope, like Valheim crossed with DRG.
DRG in the LOTR universe? Sure, count me in
Lol soon as Dwarf was only race I was out lol.
Looks nice, darn shame its a epic store "exclusive"
Will wait for a steam version or pirate if it never comes to a real storefront xp.
Love to see more LOTR games! Really wish it was a full blown AAA top tier fidelity single player version of the first movie though. If done correctly, all socks would be off. Globally. WOOSH.
AAA games are garbage and launch rushed these days, you want Indie, and dream of the good Ole days.
@@warfighterarmy Couldn't agree more. I mainly play Indies myself :)
For 3 minutes straight you repeatedly said; mine, rebuild statues, progression. Most subtle warning a game has no content. Thanks, I'll wait to get it if at all.
Would be cool if you could recruit some fellow dwarves.
is it multiplayer ?
That was explained in the video ;-)
Want to thank ahead of time the Epic Games beta testers
I have been having fun with this game. Have put a few hours in, so long as you expect things to kind of repeat over and over, the exploration and finding crazy shit is fun. I like singing while mining. Lol
It's nice because it's Lotr and all but I don't know if it's better than the new Ark game if you don't take in account the setting
I wish they would have the goblins drop loot. or maybe experience system for leveling or combat levels
ROCK AND STONE
Looks great, love the artstyle and the animations gonna pick up when i get home from work
Sad
Wait for release and a few patches ;-)
