I want to thank you both for your work on Battlestar. My brother and I bonded over this show. He passed away a few years ago at 28 from a seizure. Battlestar is how I feel close to him even though he’s gone. Thank you for bringing so much joy and comfort through your work.
Totally hear what you're saying. When I first watched Battlestar I was exiting my marriage and having the show to watch really helped me keep it all together. I'm forever grateful to everyone that worked on the show.
In the words of Palpatine: "long have I waited." Sam is such a SW veteran, blessing us with some of the most phenomenal characters in our favorite galaxy far far away with Starkiller and Maul, amongst others. Giving the most insightful and brilliant SW takes that are just as awesome as Dave Filoni's, Battlestar, this man is a living legend. Katee and Sam are literally king & queen. remember how disney obtained the lucas arts and instantly discontinued all of the extended universe, so everyone abandoned all hopes? and how people was happy when they saw bo katan in the mandalorian? and gone nuts to the brink of heart attack when they've heard "find asoka tano"? well, there is another way to make people believe in star wars once again, and this way sits right next to the katee.
Battlestar Galactica may still be the best sci-fi series to date. I have the warmest feelings for the character of Starbuck. You really did the role justice, Katee.

Huge fan of Witwer and Sackhoff!! Being Human, Longmire, Battlestar, Once Upon a Time, along with everything Star Wars. Awesome and humble people just killin’ it at life, I love it! ❤😄
I love that Katee brought up Sam's love for painting miniatures. I love even more his explanation of why he started and how beneficial it is for people's minds. He's 100% correct. I love Legion and Shatterpoint as games, but I find painting the minis to be the best part. It is such a zen thing and brings me so much peace. It's like "Look at this thing that I did! I was always impressed with the episode where Crash down has to lead an attack on an anti aircraft gun, and he is trying to brief the attack with the only limited training he's had as an infantry officer using the 5 paragraph order. It was a very cool thing to use to show his inexperience doing that sort of thing. There were loads of little moments that made you feel like the creators really did their homework of how Sailors, Pilots and Marines interact on a ship.
I watched Battlestar Galactica from the first episode. Absolutely loved this show. So much more serious and dramatic than the original show. Plus what a great cast!
What an exciting Guest! Love, love, love Sam as a regular in Sci Fi productions, especially his unique impact for Star Wars. I just realize you both have been in Galactica and Star Wars productions. This is so exciting.
Katee you nailed bo-katan to a tee. I screamed at the top of my lungs in your very first mando scene, it was everything i dreamed of. So never care what the haters think, you were born for the role.
I identify so much with some of the behaviours described, remembering names, school, playing voices, the focus when it comes to a craft. Both Sam and Katee are absolutely gorgeous, clever and lovely people from what I can tell. Some of my absolute favourite people. I wish nothing but happiness for both of you.
Katee and Sam, respectively, created two of the most memorable science fiction characters from my childhood in Starbuck and Darth Maul. So happy to be seeing their impact on the genre continues with new characters to this day. And what an engaging conversation. Please have Sam on your show again, we love listening to the two of you talking about whatever comes to mind!
You completely forgot about Galen Marek a.k.a. Starkiller from the games Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. He was not only the voice but the character likeness model for that game role.
I'm so very late to this. If there are two people that can save Star Wars, it's you two. No one puts more into their characters than you do. Thank you both for the years of amazing stories that you helped create! I wish you the best.
That fan who made the helmet... what a great story - hope that fan knows who they are and that their helmet that saved the day is in the show. Great story.
Love seeing 2 of my favorite actors talking about all sorts of good stuff. I feel like Sam is such a renaissance man. He's well spoken, funny, talented and highly intelligent.
Hi Katee, ChrisB here from Portland area (actually West, through the tunnel, and on to Sunset Hwy, and sure you know where, but I don't like to tell the wide public exactly where I am) Really good chat you had with SamW! Yeah, didn't know that he had done so many things, especially for the Star Wars universe! About you talking about your mom being a teacher, that was good to hear that your mom has been able to do such a rewarding job for many years! And she still has students that come up to her, and thank your mom! Thats Kinda like my Mom! (My mom has been a grade school teacher since 1973, after she graduated from Boise State; then she went to Salt Lake City taught there, remarried and then she taught there for almost 20 years! Then, she and her husband moved to Portland area, Okay, Washington County OR, and she has taught at a CAtholic school since then; and she tried to retire, but the school didn't want to lose her. So now my mom is a teachers aid, and only has to work a couple days a week! People still come up to her, and say that she taught them when they were in grade school, and they thank my mom for being a great teacher to them! It is quite amazing how many do/say that to her! That is what I wanted to say! I'm a kind of an introvert that does extrovert things. When I get writing or commenting, I can say way too much. But I felt like I should write a comment here, seeing that we have something in common, having important connections to the Portland area! (I actually was born and raised in BoiseID area, my grandparents raised me; and now that they have since passed away, I live with my mom and help her and her disabled husband. I love BSG and I’ve always loved Katee. Sam Witwer seems like a super cool guy that I’d love to have a beer with. Loved him playing Crashdown. Thank you Katee!
It is nice to know that I am not the only one that cannot remember names and I to use associate to remember peoples names, thanks for sharing this it makes me feel better! I really liked the entire conversation/interview. Thanks!
Teacher and fan of both of y'all, warmed my heart to hear the support for teachers. Hoping to see Sam in a live action Star Wars series, loved him in Being Human and his voice acting and looking forward to more Bo Katan. After this, I have to binge Battlestar Galactica over the summer now😂
REALLY enjoyed this episode being a Sci-Fi man plus the fact that you got to interview someone you've worked with before which brought some real interesting stories and energy to the conversations.
these actors represent such a significant body of work to my generation it's insane. absolutely loved their work in BSG, so stoked for Katee continuing the role of Bo Katan. Live action role in Star Wars for Sam Witwer when?
Loved this episode!! You’re both truly amazing in your Star Wars roles, but as someone who played The Force Unleashed when it first came out years ago, I’ll always hold Sam in the highest regard for his impact since then on the franchise.
Amazing interview I want more stuffs like this. Hopefully Sam comes back as a guest in the future. I am now going to go down a Katee Sackhoff & Sam Witwer rabbit holes :)
I follow both of their work and love every second of it. Battlestar galactica is my favorite sci-fi show of all time! And Sam is just so in tune with the Star Wars universe! ❤
Loved every second of this!!!!! Def gotta have Sam back for a follow up episode in the future :P Huge Star Wars nerd and fan of yalls characters and absolutely adored Starbuck in BSG! Such a great show! Awesome podcast. Can't wait to watch more :)
I still have not watched BattleStar Galactica might have to push it on my tv list. I loved Sam Witwer in everything he has been in Star Wars Force Unleashed 1 & 2, Being Human, The Mist, Smallvile Season 8, Riverdale Season 4 in couple of episodes, & Clone Wars & Rebels. Very underrated actor that deserves more love. Loved the interview.
I was a few weeks late on watching this episode but really enjoyed it when I did. Great discussion and insight from both of you. It's always fun to hear how much goes on behind the scenes. This is steadily becoming one of better podcasts out there. Keep up the great work.
Katee, I remember thinking Starbuck is a female? No way. The role will be ruined. Then I saw every episode you acted it. You sold me! Love every role you have acted. Great Interview with SAM.!
I got to meet both of these gems at different conventions. They were very personable and I had a great conversation with Sam about rescue dogs and how they are family. If you have a chance to see them in person you won’t regret it.
His portrayal of Crashdown was very well done as it reminded me of some young officers I had met & worked with. As for the RDM BSG overall, the best frakin' docu-drama ever!
Agreed! Someone needs to make a petition on this, and get Witwer back in the lead role too. Apparently it was due to "low sales," but even the devs and publishers disagreed with Sony on that, due to the game having sold over 5 million copies.
Battlestar, easily one of the best drama's (not just Sci-Fi) shows ever made. The first time I watched the show, I binge watched all the mini-series, and seasons in 5 days while working full-time. lol I don't remember much of the work I did that week... but I sure remember the show! I've since watched it many many times' over. The cast was outstanding. I am hard pressed to recall a cast member who phoned it in. Everyone was on their A-game.
Bo katan is one of the greatest characters that I've ever seen as a continuing character, and I believe that she will be for years to come. Well done Katee. Sam is one of my top favorite actors since his appearance on Battlestar and in Being Human. I also believe that no one could pull off Starkiller the way he did. Amazing work, both of you.
My two favorite actors in the world, my inspirations as well, what a wonderful experience to watch this interview, and how much I've learned from both of you! Thank you Katee and Sam!!!
Katie, you have been such a staple in amazing sci fi series. Battle Star Glactica might be the best series of all time because it was a genre breaker. By that i mean, people that i told to watch it, that did not like sci- fi, loved it. that shows just how good it was!
It's hard not to like Sam. His work in the Star Wars games, etc truly shows his love of the story and the lore of the universe. If Disney was smart, they would hire him into Lucasfilm and have him work on the next Star Wars project if they actually want to make the fanbase happy and actually make money!
Hi Katee and Sam, Sam will always be to me Deacon St John from my favourite game of all time Days Gone. His acting in the game was phenomenal. It’s a crying shame that the sequel was cancelled. Thanks Sam for giving me such great enjoyment and escapism for hundreds of hours! 👍
I've been following Sam's career since the force unleashed and he is like the coolest nerd!! Love that he is into painting minis, wonder if plays legions.or shatter point. Anyways loved seeing you two chat, look forward to the next video😁
I seriously hope Disney/Lucasfilm has this guy on staff whatever brain trust they have for Star Wars. The guy is just too knowledgeable about everything Star Wars related.
Im born in 89, I was aware of the original battlestar series, but I grew up watching Katee in her series of battlestar, and its still my favourite to this date. All of the series and especially Battlestar Deadlock is how I immerse myself again and again in that universe and EVERYONE on that show was absolutely onpoint. Shame on me for not knowing Sam was crashdown. Really enjoying your podcast show, Katee, keep it up!
This was a great interview, I loved listening and watching you two. I hope both of you get to continue to add to the Star Wars universe for years to come.
As one of the people who said "Why is Starbuck a girl???" I would like to sincerely apologize. You are an amazingly talented actor and have made your mark to say the least. Thank you!!!!!
Also, Darth Maul, Starkiller, many storm troopers. Apparently, Battlestar Galactica. He was also Deacon St John, Ferris, and Being Human. He's one of those actors like Travis Femmel. He's been everywhere but doesn't get credit. Tom Hardy was like that for a long time.
Crashdown’s death was very tragic. We don’t know if he was gonna shoot Cally and it’s implied that his soul just died because he died on Kobol. And then his murder was covered up and he never got justice. Never liked it.
This was such a great interview! It was a really fun and interesting conversation. It was great hearing about your time on Battlestar together. It's one of my favorite shows of all time, and a lot of that is because of Starbuck. I also loved learning more about Sam and his work. Katee is such a great interviewer! I can't wait to see more. ♥
Ah man. Im going to watch battlestar again. Haven't watched it in years. I hadn't watched full on sci-fi before and i was honestly hooked. I blitzed the entire thing in like a few weeks. I didnt realise Sam was in it 😂 Starbuck was and genuinely still is one of my favourite characters of all time!
I soooo understand the crafting thing...I'm a 911 dispatcher and have been for more than 25 years. I started making miniatures myself (lot of Star Wars ones..lol) along with other crafts.. I also find it to be very therapeutic for me too. Helps my mind slow down and focus on something else..something I can control. Would love to see some of your pottery Katee!! And some of your miniatures Sam!!
Fantastic interview and insights from both Sam & Katee - greatly appreciated the candor on behind the scenes, teachers, technique… all with humility and gratefulness and without gossip or slander: role models that are sorely needed today. Subscribed!
This talk about educators is SO true! In university I had a handful of professors that did such a fantastic job and who took a interest in what their students learned. Then you had those who just checked boxes. I can’t even remember those educators now. But Doctor Jim Reneau I’ll remember until I die. He instilled his passion and love of learning new and innovative ways in his coding classes. Put me where I am today
I've loved Sam Witwer as an actor since seeing him on Being Human. That show was great! Oddly enough, when I looked at his IMDB list of work, he did a lot of shows I was already watching over the years so I'm sure I saw him in other things before Being Human. My favorite thing about him is his love of Sci-Fi. He's one of those people you want to make sure you go to his panel at a convention because he has so many experiences he's willing to share about different shows and the business in general. Thank you for making him one of your first interviews and I thank Sam for being willing to do Katee's show because he is definitely a Sci-Fi favorite!

My two favorite actors in the world, my inspirations as well, what a wonderful experience to watch this interview, and how much I've learned from both of you! Thank you Katee and Sam!!!
Starbuck and Starkiller walk into a bar....love you guys!
You two are the absolute greatest - thanks so much for letting us listen to the conversation!
I've been following Sam's career since the force unleashed and he is like the coolest nerd!! Love that he is into painting minis, wonder if plays legions.or shatter point. Anyways loved seeing you two chat, look forward to the next video😁
Love you Katee, love that you had Sam on, he's such a good actor and human being
I seriously hope Disney/Lucasfilm has this guy on staff whatever brain trust they have for Star Wars. The guy is just too knowledgeable about everything Star Wars related.
*SAM THE MAN!*
Gods, I loved Crashdown. 😍
I just noticed I tapped the 33rd Like 😂
Sam, great job portraying your character of Crashdown; he scared 😱 the frak out of me 😂!
This man does not age. He is vampire.
Bo Katan & Darth Maul! 😆🔥
This was a great interview, I loved listening and watching you two. I hope both of you get to continue to add to the Star Wars universe for years to come.
Starkiller show when??? Disney? What's the hold up?
He will be in Tales of the empire, where asokah and star killer meet
He would ONLY do IT right. Disney will never do anything right 🤔 they would have woke IT up
@@p20gdnofficialnope :-)
As one of the people who said "Why is Starbuck a girl???" I would like to sincerely apologize. You are an amazingly talented actor and have made your mark to say the least. Thank you!!!!!
Noooooo she can't be married...."there goes my chances" 😅 lol. For real though, she's soooo beautiful.
Sam Witwer is awesome! Excellent guest Katee!
Is this the guy who played Doomsday in Smallville?
Yes
He’s low key an acting treasure
No, he's Aiden from "being human"....we try to forget the doomsday thing.
The two of you have done so much for Star Wars and I could never thank you enough
Katees uploads average around 10-50k on views, Sam Witwer comes on and she gets 300k in three weeks
The nerds came in droves lmao
wtf??? starbuck has a PODCAST!???? i friggin love katee
Bo and Maul
He played 2 characters in 2 completely different franchises which I love
LucasFilm is loyal if you’re not Gina.
She got a wonderful smile!
Good Lord, I loved every minute of this interview with you two glorious nerds!
Hell ya! i love learning when someone famous who's work I've always enjoyed is a fellow mini painter!
