When you’re getting started in rock climbing, either in the gym or outdoor sport, finding a great climbing harness that won't break the bank can be a challenge. That's why we choose the Black Diamond Momentum as our first harness. We review this harness, including what we liked and what could be better.
The Black Diamond Momentum is a very versatile harness. We’ve found it to be the best entry level or backup harness for us in the climbing gym and for sport climbing outdoors. The harness has one adjustment buckle on the waist and one on each leg loop for great adjustability. We found the sizing charts on Black Diamond’s website to be reasonably accurate. The belt is comfortable when belaying your partner at the rock gym and moves well when it's your turn to send the route.
It's also a very affordable harness and with so many different items to purchase when you're first getting started, it's a welcome addition to your set up.

The recipe for Sawback Gear was born high on the switchbacks of Mount Whitney. The idea was simple, we wanted everyone to have the opportunity to experience the combination of relaxation, excitement, and rejuvenation that only the outdoors can provide. Start by giving people the know-how they need to ensure their adventures are successful and fun. Next, help people find the best equipment and gear they need. Finally, focus on the community, creating a group of people who simply love being outdoors. Throw in a handful of conservation (because you can’t go outdoors without the outdoors) and you’ve got the recipe for Sawback Gear. Whether its rock climbing, backpacking, mountaineering, or camping, if you want to get outdoors, we are here to help. If you love the outdoors as much as we do, subscribe to our channel! JTFulky,
It depends on what you’re planning on using your harness for. Where do you plan on using it the most: in the gym or outdoors? Sport, trad, top? Is this your first ever harness or are you simply looking for a new one? Those factors will help narrow down the options.

@@sawbackgear6119 It is a first harness for all around. I went with the Petzl Sama. Hoping it is good!

How does the outside material handle scrapes from tree bark? I'm looking into using this as a safety harness to do some pruning work up a tree so I will be squirming around and likely scraping against tree limbs and rough bark.
