For all i know, the studio approached Tatsuya Kitani while he was still producing the song and gave him an idea of what they wanted for it. Meanwhile, this contrasts the ending, that shows their friendship instead with a relaxed tone.
“where our blue is” is from gojos pov and shows what his thoughts and feelings towards geto are. the ending song “akari” is about geto and from the pov of people who love him. i highly recommend checking that out as well. once you know these two characters full story the songs will make you a 100 times sadder than they already do.

The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. Just like a lot of Japanese songs the feeling and lyrics are so different. It is such a beautiful song vocally, but knowing and reading the lyrics it is very dark saddening.
