Thank you for this video! I’m a high school student- playing trombone. Sometimes we have jazz band and I literally just suck at my solo. I can play it fine alone and with someone just putting it with the music- I loose myself. I don’t really know how to fix it but this helped a little of it I believe.
I use a gold Denis wick its an amazing mouth piece! I'm only 15, and have braces but with some help and that mouth piece I play better than I ever have
Pravo fastman is he playing the bac round horns as well , it sound s lik he's on a train lik an the train comes to a stop how cool right. I just started playing with cup mute again so I can play whole range an sound good . Thank
No wonder I couldn’t play as fast (or fast, as we say). I haven’t been using the tonguing techniques all at once! 🤣😂 That was fun to listen to, and the playing was nice as well. 👍🏼🔥
By the way, I love the “Mr Robert’s” piece you wrote. I played it on my graduate recital, more than a decade ago, and still enjoy playing the solo part along with Ben’s recording. It’s so much fun that I keep it in my short stack of practice parts. Any time I don’t feel like practicing, I pull it out, have a great time, and then I’m ready to get back to work. It’s just an absolute blast to play, and the ballad section is beautiful.
Where's the substance? Just a lot of doodle-tongued scrambling of the Bb scale in the first three positions. Same with Watrous, et al. Just meaningless blah blah. The trombone is not a tenor saxophone or guitar. One has to learn to deal with that fact, and then develop a convincing personal trombone style within the boundaries of that instrument's salient qualities--and limitations. This will never impress other trombonists, of course.

I’m completely the opposite. My solos suck when I’m alone 😭

It’s not about the mouthpiece it’s about the embouchure or the cup

except it absolutely does impress other trombonists.
"Just meaningless blah blah"
You should reconsider what music is and stop being an online music snob.
Who said this isn’t in the boundaries of the instrument have you heard Elliot mason play?
It impresses me though
