Wish i had seen this before. I thought there was some issue with my cable and i bought a new one and then same problem happened with that cable as well. Then i got it cleaned.
I would never use metal in a port and a wooden toothpick is too fat. I use the flat plastic toothpick found on my Swiss Army Knife. It's flat, skinny, and strong, and has a nice point. The canned air is good to use after you loosen the crud.
Canned air sold online or at most electronic stores. It shoot out really powerfully. It's also good to use on your laptop's fan slot. You can also use it for between the keys.
If anyone wants to find something cheap and effective use sewing needles i used one and it solved the problem ive been having for years i used to have to apply pressure on some cables just to keep it from disconecting and now it can hold its own weight by holding it by the cable 😊😊😊
You can definately clean it yourself just be more careful, I did it myself, it's working good now, then I started taking care of it more and it didn't happen again, go ahead if you need help, I can help you
